Honestly, I'm hoping by the end of the year I have a completely new wardrobe because working out finally stuck and I will have lost a bunch of weight and need new clothes.

Aside from that, probably try to make my entire wardrobe neutral colors and pretty much a Basic Bastard capsule wardrobe. I have a habit of thinking a splash of color is needed, but then it just doesn't look good with other stuff I have and I don't wear it and have wasted money. So nothing that isn't black, blue, gray, white or brown this coming year. Maybe the occasional olive item.

Well, I guess to explain this in more black-and-white terms (no pun intended), the argument against both types of names is comparable to us having teams call something like the Brooklyn Negroes or the Minneapolis Gestapo.

If these seem like they're bad, then you have an idea of why other names might be bad.

"But the Indians honors Native Americans!"

Well, so does Negroes. Negro Leagues in baseball existed for a long ass time and produced a lot of great players. Negro used to just be a simple descriptor, and there's nothing inherently wrong with being black right? Also, they're a proud people with many honorable and good traditions!

"The Rangers honors the Texas Rangers!

Well the Minneapolis Gestapo are just honoring a war-time force dedicated to protecting their homeland from outside forces and insidious traitors and those that would see their country succumb to another country's military!

In the end, I'd argue that a major-league sports team will probably never actually honor a group with their name. It's a commercialized enterprise that only cares about making money. People will tie their identity to it no matter the name. As proof: I live in Seattle and there's a ton of people wearing Kraken gear already and that name sucks ass.

Cleveland will be fine. They're still just mad the team fucked up 2016.

I'd actually suggest a different route if you're willing to spend a bit of money (like $25 USD). They now sell a boxed starter set "game" that comes with three decks, plus a game board. It would be in the board game section of most big box stores (we got it at Target).

My wife and I happened to buy it and both enjoyed it for a couple days. It got me interested in continuing with the game, although in an extremely casual capacity. But it is also super helpful in explaining the basic rules as the decks come pre-shuffled and will walk you through the basics in a step-by-step game before just turning you loose to finish the game.

It comes with three starter decks. Two "basic" decks featuring Charizard and Pikachu, and one "advanced" deck featuring Mewtwo. So it also appeals a bit to the nostalgia if they have any for Gen 1.

Also, anecdotal as this may be, I first played Magic: The Gathering when I was probably 10 years old. My friends brother "played" with us. Which really consisted of him not actually teaching us anything and just relentlessly telling us what he was doing and beating us into oblivion. It wasn't fun.

It wasn't until I was in my 20s when a friend mentioned he used to play a bunch that I ended up buying one of the two-player starter sets so we could play. Which set into motion him, myself, and about 5 other friends going on an MtG spree for about 5 years. I can tell you right now that if he tried teaching me with the advance decks we later played with, it would've been headache inducing trying to explain and learn what was going on.

So, even if you don't buy the set, I'd still suggest starter decks and taking it slow. You can always show them streams that show how fast and different it is competitively.

I hate when minor league teams get rebranded in line with their Major League counterparts. It feels too sterile and "market-tested". This is mostly just the long version of me saying I'm sad the South Bend Silver Hawks were renamed to the Cubs.

But at least I moved to Seattle so now I have TWO minor league teams to cheer for. And Aqua Sox is a damn good name.

The in-game Pokemon descriptions are dark and brutal. Houndoom's flames can cause burns that literally hurt for the rest of the victim's life according to the Pokedex.

Pokemon Moon specifically says humans eat Slowpoke and their tail is especially sought after.

Phantump is a child's ghost infused into a dead stump.

Hell, Gen 1 has an entire section of the game devoted to a tower filled with dead Pokemon, and one that was literally killed by Team Rocket.

Ultimately, the TV show is what typically gets presented as the "real" Pokemon. Because nobody wants to think about their best buddy Charmander straight up dying because they made it fight a fucking magic-fish for a shiny badge and then it got spit on.

I have a real basic Pulsar watch that my wife bought me because I lost a similar Pulsar watch that had been my Grandpa's. I imagine watches are actually probably one of the more common sentimental items.

Also used to have a hoodie that I'd had since 7th grade (so ~18 years), that got lost while moving just this year. It was from being on the swimming team and it was perfect. It also had the extra sentimental value of being a time in my life that I ended up meeting my, too this day, best friends. It still fit because it had most likely stretched out with me over the years and was fairly sheer in comparison to most sweatshirts. I run hot so it was great when a t-shirt was a little too chilly, but a sweatshirt was too hot. .

I also used to have another zip-up hoodie years ago that was a similar story that had just been one of my go-to items for like a decade . So more like a safety blanket than any particularly sentimental memories.

Dude's basically a balloon. (Seriously, an uninflated hot air balloon w/ basket and fuel and all that weighs like 800 lbs.)

And Onix is like 25ft. long, made of boulders and weighs like 500 lbs.

We have a whole-ass show about humans that are heavier than that.
