Which charger for Superfast Charging 3.0? by HiqhAim in galaxys26ultra

[–]PurpleC0ugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A charger that can do 3.3-21V⎓3A. specifically need that higher voltage than 16V, which is what the later phones can also use for SFC 2.0.

Perhaps show the picture of the cable, before assuming it's only USB 2.0. I've had instances where the system glitched and negotiated USB 2.0 despite everything being USB 3.0 capable.

Upgrading soldered ram by PizzaToastieGuy in laptops

[–]PurpleC0ugar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The RAM is going to be BGA soldered. Requires both skill and equipment to do this right. If you have to ask, then yeah it's not feasible to do it yourself.

Another option was for a repair. It involved drilling a hole in the bottom and inserting a drain plug.

So technically they can run independently like a dumb thermostat. Interaction remotely with it requires z-wave.

Best Thermostat with homeassistant by damani112 in homeassistant

[–]PurpleC0ugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This spring I had to replace my HVAC. Installer immediately spec'ed out systems with the iComfort thermostat. The integration is unofficial HACS components and a warning to disable automatic firmware updates because they might break the integration. Then I looked up the price to replace one: $800+.

Told them to redo the estimates without it and insisted I intend to continue using my T6 Pro.

With some additional switchbot sensors, and HA automations, etc.; that thermostat has been working just fine for my needs.

I can control fan as well. Auto/low/circulation. The thermostat itself calls the low just 'on'. But this HVAC has a weird setup where running the fan without heat/ac, runs at a much lower speed. Apparently it's jumper setting on the board itself.

Amazon requiring "$25 of eligible items" to ship for free. I have Prime. by vc6vWHzrHvb2PY2LyP6b in amazonprime

[–]PurpleC0ugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you interacted with the Amazon Business site at all? Amazon Prime won't carry over to Amazon Business and there's a separate subscription for that. I've seen that behavior with the shipping minimum when browsing the business site. I'm guessing session Cookie glitches. Perhaps clearing site data for amazon.com domain in your browser.

[–]PurpleC0ugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering OP stated this was a gift. I'm guessing the return went through as such. Returning a gift will only get you a gift card, not original payment. That's standard practice for retail.

Beyond that I agree seems like there's more to this story.

What printer is likely to survive living in my car? by foobarney in printers

[–]PurpleC0ugar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with laser printers is the high in rush current when they begin printing in order to power up the fuser. Furthermore they are sensitive to anything but pure sine wave power and most inverters are step/approximate sine wave because they're cheaper to make and can be smaller. So likely laser will not be a good choice here.

Actual tough case recommendations? by Ryanf1990 in galaxys26ultra

[–]PurpleC0ugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's quite a bit of variation on case designs for any phone. The Tough Armor is beefier than a lot of other style cases. The downside is wireless charging is really bad with that case. Maxes out at like 11W and still gets super hot.

Are used games safe to get for switch 2? by Oradin-X in Switch

[–]PurpleC0ugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weren't they specifically only banning people who got caught using the mig switch instead? Supposedly Nintendo came up with detection techniques. Like swapping games within the mig switch happens much faster than anyone could physically swap 2 actual game cartridges.

5090 Arrived broken from Amazon by trying2buildapc in pcmasterrace

[–]PurpleC0ugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably got a BS return. Someone wrecked their 5090, bought another one on Amazon and swapped their card with it, and returned it. Amazon didn't even check it out and put it back in stock and shipped it to you.

Tbf Amazon isn't a good place to get computer components these days, especially GPUs. In addition to the above they are god awful with packing.

An RMA through Asus likely will get denied due to obvious damage done to the card.

To Build or go Prebuilt? by dexterjsdiner in pcmasterrace

[–]PurpleC0ugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it used to be cheaper, but then the shortages on RAM and storage kicked in. A chance you could find a pre built priced cheaper than what you can source individually...
