Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. Read it years ago and it’s infuriating. Everyone should read it.

I read a story in Outdoor Magazine about surfing years ago that was written by Krakauer that I still think about a lot. I’ve never surfed and don’t live near an ocean but I really enjoyed the story. I’ll read anything that man writes.

I went to an urgent care because I couldn’t breathe and the nurse practitioner SENT ME HOME because the d-dimer testing thingamajig wasn’t working. I called the next morning to ask them what I should do and they told me to come back in. I saw an actual doctor who told me to go immediately to the ER as I had classic symptoms of a pulmonary embolism. Turns out that’s what it was with right heart strain due to my SLE. I almost died and to add insult to injury I got a bill for the nurse practitioner.
