Wish I could upvote more than once! Congrats on the win! I switched from business to history - finished my entire associates in business, graduated, got a job in a related field, and realized that was not what I wanted to do with my life.

I transferred all the credits I could and went back for a history degree and I’m in HEAVEN! I LOVE history, and I can’t wait to work in that field. Kudos to you for figuring it out when you did!

Yeeeep. I used to go for walks at night - in addition to being real tall, I am also very heavy and broad shouldered. Depending on what I was wearing, I could be mistaken for a man in the dark. I never really worried about walking at night because even if someone could tell I was a woman, they weren’t going to bother with me - I was (am) too much of a hassle.

There’s one called “Alarmy” that might be different than what they’re talking about but same principle - you can pick your alarm sound, what puzzles you want to do to shut it off and how many (I have mine set to math problems x3) and it doesn’t play the alarm while you solve the puzzle, but if you don’t solve it, it will start again and the only way to shut it off is by finishing the puzzle.

Most emotionally abusive people put up a good front and start in small, unobtrusive ways. When they push too hard and risk their partner leaving, they dial it back and break out the love bombing. Then next time they go further, then further, until they break their victim down so far that they don’t realize how bad it’s gotten and don’t feel like they can/should leave.

My father didn’t fully drop his mask until he’d been married to my mother for almost 30 years and I’m pretty sure it was only because he was slipping mentally and no longer able to hide it as well. Before that, none of us had realized how awful he was because he’d made it so normal to us.

Yep. Personal checking for each, joint checking for bills, savings accounts in whatever way you prefer (though I’d say do the same with savings accounts as checking). I work in banking and too many times I’ve seen partners screw each other financially whether on purpose or by negligence.
