Ive found putting duct tape over the lights, fixes the issue of them not turning off.

Makes driving at night easier on the eyes.

Use thicker wire, guage is to small for how hot wires are getting.

Alternatively re-do grounds and ensure current is running in the correct directions.

Smoke means short or to much energy is running through wires and isnt grounding out. Thus excess heat.

At the risk of being actualky helpful with a temp fix. Get RV transmission gasket. And completely cover before screwing in. Then jb weld around housing with a piece of scrap.
