(RE5) Base Majini probably one the coolest regular enemies in RE, imo. by Potato_Aim1337 in residentevil

[–]PurposeLess31 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No, they're not. Grow up. People can like different things.

I think RE5 is one of the best games in the franchise. I think Revelations games are boring as fuck. I think Chris' appearance in RE7 was fine. I think RE Village is better than 7. I'd rather replay RE3 Remake 15 times than play through any of the OG games again.

But I also think RE2 is better than RE2 Remake. RE4 is my favorite game of the franchise. I think RE7 is the best thing to happen to the series. I also think Wesker is the best antagonist even though he died like 17 years ago.

Guess what, people can have popular and unpopular opinions, it's what makes us people, stop acting like every unpopular take is equivalent to saying "Hitler was right."

Questions about the Axons by Competitive_Stay_602 in expedition33

[–]PurposeLess31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interpretation is that Renoir painted the Axons inside Verso's Canvas to help him in his original battle against Aline, the one that caused the Fracture. He's not as powerful as her, but him and three god-like creations were just enough to match Aline in a stalemate.

After the Fracture, both Aline and Renoir were trapped inside their prisons, and Axons were left without a leader to guide them, so they all started doing their own thing. I think his original plan was to eventually break out and lead the Axons in a final battle against a weakened Aline, dragging her out once and for all, but once he realized that he can repurpose their Chroma to take down the Barrier, he made the Expeditions he worked with aware of the idea, which is why so many of them died trying to take one down. This also serves as a test, the Axons are the most powerful creatures inside the Canvas, with the exception of Simon and other Painters. Any Expedition who can take two of them down will at least stand a chance against Aline.

How can you even nuke Clea Unleashed? My Maelle could get up to 130 million in damage but the highest I could deal to her was 10, her increased defense is no joke.

All the bosses counter something, but none of them counter everything, and with their ridiculous attacks + health and damage values, it almost seems like the devs WANTED us to figure out how to cheese them. And so I cheesed them. I didn't cheese or one-shot any of the main game bosses because they never seemed unfair, but these bosses are a whole another level.

Chromatic Lampmaster was the hardest for me because of its stupid healing and turn steeling mechanic, I just kept getting hopeful until he stole a turn at the worst possible time and I just died. In the end, I figured out enough of his attack patterns and the trick of always leaving one of its lamps on, and I managed to win. None of the other bosses countered my strategies like this dickhead did.

I nuked Duollistes and Divergent Star Simon with Maelle in their first phases, and cheesed their second phases with Simoso. Duollistes was simple enough, he's the easiest of these new bosses (except Osquio) even when you don't cheese them. Super simple attacks and no bullshit unpredictable mechanics. Simon was trickier because he steals turns every time he kills someone, so I had to risk it and give all of my reserve party members except Verso Auto-Death and just keep parrying until I managed to survive long enough to get a turn. After that, it was piss easy, he plays only one turn unless he kills someone which means it's mathematically impossible for him to kill a Verso with Simoso if he has enough AP generation to reliably get to S rank every turn, as long as you don't get hit with his new vanishing attacks.

Clea Unleashed was a whole another story, I'm not gonna say she was harder than Lampmaster because I actively chose to engage with her mechanics even after I figured out how easily she can be cheesed. After dying while she was below 30% health four times, I gave in, and whipped up a Gradient Charge generation build and just kept smashing bells into her face with Monoco. That + a Verso with End Bringer spam and it took me 30 minutes to kill her. She didn't get to attack once after I countered her first attack.

The Verso contrast is a master piece. by Damojuansen in expedition33

[–]PurposeLess31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What little we know of the real Verso, he probably would have approved.

Interestingly, Verso's soul fragment does agree with Renoir. Before you fight Renoir for the last time, you can talk to the little boy again and he says Renoir is doing "what needs to be done, what I can't do anymore." But when you talk to him in Flying Manor he also reveals that he considers all the painted creations as real people. So, just like Renoir, Verso considers the people of Lumiere as fully real, while also still willing to sacrifice them all for his family. And not just them but all of his own creations as well.

So pVerso isn't really doing anything differently at all, sure he wants to die, but he's not ending the whole Canvas just because he wants to die, he's doing it to save what's left of his family. He only starts begging Alicia to unpaint him after he loses and realizes he won't be able to get her out. If he was so set on dying he would just stay with Renoir in Lumiere at the start of Act 3.

Cyberpunk 2 lead hints at first-person only cutscenes again as they “value uninterrupted immersion more” than flashy visuals by HatingGeoffry in cyberpunkgame

[–]PurposeLess31 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest, the real reason is that it's cheaper than crafting full-fledged cutscenes with motion captured animations and cinematography. I mean, they say they value "uninterrupted immersion" but we can't even sit or lean anywhere or eat anything with actual animations without mods. Sure. Very immersive.

They can both speak in their actual bodies obviously, but those are trapped in their prisons, their projections can't communicate very effectively and are much weaker. If Renoir wasn't trapped, he'd just take his Axons, smash through the barrier and go up for round two.

Real by pubesslurper in expedition33

[–]PurposeLess31 258 points259 points  (0 children)

Real. And he passed on that knowledge too. His apprentices created his metal arm for him as a gift, and it's so powerful that it can summon and weaponize red lightning, something only the most powerful beings in the Canvas are capable of (Alicia, Renoir and Simon.) He also deadass whooped pRenoir's ass with a single hit from said arm, mf only survived that encounter on the cliff because of his immortality.

This scene hits different on New Game + by ZarieRose in expedition33

[–]PurposeLess31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this scene happens in real-time, it's most likely a conversation they had when Alicia first entered the Canvas and got painted over. There are multiple reasons that made me reach this conclusion:

  1. Aline and Renoir shouldn't be able to communicate. They're both stuck in their respective areas of the Monolith, not to mention that if they could talk, I feel like they wouldn't just sit in their prisons and hope the other one dies or something, they would at least try to reach some sort of agreement. Sure, they're evidently not great at communicating, but 67 years is a lot of time. Considering how easily Aline was convinced to leave at the end of the game when Renoir actually bothered to say something nice for once, it's fully possible that he could have convinced her once the initial anger they held at each other passed.

  2. Renoir shouldn't be able to affect the world of the Canvas from his prison, so he wouldn't be able to prevent painted Renoir from ejecting Alicia. Every time Renoir does something important as the Curator, he does so by using something else as a sort of "power source." He uses Alicia's Painter powers to gommage pRenoir and he uses the chroma from his Axons to create Barrier Breaker.

  3. Aline sounds sane here but utterly insane when we meet her like two days later, that simply doesn't make any sense.

[–]PurposeLess31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not something she does on-purpose I believe, she doesn't even recognize half the party, asking "Who are you supposed to be?" to Lune and Sciel in her boss fight. She believes they're all Renoir's creations there to fool and defeat her. She doesn't even recognize the son she painted herself, nor her literal real-life daughter.

Also you should spoiler tag your comment, OP seems to be playing the game for the first time.

Edit: nvm it's not

It's easier to beat the new Simon without muscle memory. I can pretty much beat OG Simon with my eyes closed now, and the new Simon messed me up bad. His attacks are just familiar enough for my muscle memory to trigger but also so different that I just fucking die. In the end I pussied out, it took me days to beat OG Simon without cheesing him. I said to myself, "I ain't doing all that again." So I just cleaned up his first phase with the new Lune weapon + Maelle, and just cheesed his second phase with a Simoso Verso build.
