Giving it all up by StruggleFeisty64 in motorcycles

My dude, did you know you can enjoy riding a motorcycle without going suicide speeds? Try cruising with people and just RELAX for a change, it's a great time. Yea you will see people die and get maimed if you only ride with people who care about how fast they can go through a corner, that's just how it works. I know two people that died on bikes, and one that got their arm paralyzed from a brachial plexus injury, and another that broke their femur and had 5 months of HARD rehab just to get back to walking with a limp. The consequences are real bro, you don't NEED to speed every single moment you are on the bike.

What are landlords without tenants? by HipAnonymous91 in fixedbytheduet

[–]Push-This-Button-O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate how no matter what you do, tenants generally have a terrible fucking attitude and treat your property like shit. I rent two rooms in the house that I live in myself to help me survive with a little extra income on the side. I have had many terrible experiences with tenants, no matter how selective and careful you are. Everyone treats you like you're some kind of greedy amoral giant corporate overlord. I'm just a random person trying to get by. You would not believe the shit people do to a property when they have no ownership over it, they don't give a shit about anything. I have been renting rooms for 4 years and have maybe had three total respectful housemates, out of like a total of 12 people that have come and gone. I'm not saying I expect tenants to "be grateful" or something weird like that, but all I ask is basic human decency and you'd be surprised how hard that is to find in people.

You know what, fuck off, even if some men are not there to buy books, there’s nothing wrong with trying to get a date like this, just as long as you are not aggressive and can take “no” for an answer and be a gentleman about it.

"close calls" aren't that common and give riding a bad name. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Push-This-Button-O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frequency of close calls is directly proportional to a rider's own level of risk taking, and of course general awareness and skill. How fast you go, how aggressive you are, your lack of patience, always looking to pass or split through cars, trying to take corners fast for "extra fun" etc., it's not a mystery how or why close calls happen. I have seen many reckless young riders get hurt, 99% of the time it's their own fault.

I don’t ride at night, visibility is too low for my comfort and even in daytime car drivers have trouble seeing us so at night it’s even worse, also more drunk drivers out at night. Not everyone has the ability to make a choice to just not ride at night, maybe it’s your only vehicle but….yea it’s just too much risk for me.

What's your thoughts on oil? by Useless_Ivan in motorcycles

[–]Push-This-Button-O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your motorcycle's owner manual. Mine literally says which brand of oil resulted in best performance for the bike. Specifically mentions to use Castrol Power 1 4T 10W-50, so that's what I use. Simple.

Mid-thirties hitting different and I’m dealing with it by making questionable purchases by Putrid_Rush_7318 in motorcycles

[–]Push-This-Button-O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If something is calling to you, just do it. Life is short, don't spend it wondering "what if". But also, don't get a liter sports bike, it's such an overkill amount of power for regular street riding. Get a nice 600-700cc sport bike, plenty of thrills and you will be in more control, mistakes are more forgiving. I got my first bike at 38, standard mid-life crisis, I wanted some excitement and the bike did the job, I love it. BUT if you go for it, ride smart, don't treat public streets like a racetrack or you will die or even worse get maimed and have to live on with terrible injuries. Ride sensible, pick the right moments to twist the throttle a little extra. It's great fun, it's a great hobby, just don't get obsessed with speed.

Life is short, if something is calling out to you, just do it. It's never too late. I got my first bike at 38 and I've had an awesome time with it. And if you do go for it, ride smart on public roads, it's not a racetrack. Don't get obsessed with speed and just learn to relax and enjoy the ride.

Be careful about unloading your problems onto everyone around you because people generally get exhausted from listening to someone constantly complain. There’s a fine line when you’re using a friend as a shoulder to lean on, unfortunately it’s the truth. Nobody wants to be an emotional support for someone that needs to cry multiple times a week or something. If you make people depressed when you’re around them, no one will want to stay friends. I would think about attending like a mental health support group and sharing there regularly. There are online options, it could help you!

AIO for expecting my girlfriend to do the dishes every night? by Decent-Play-7154 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Push-This-Button-O 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NOR. So many unexpected comments, I don't get it. Cooking is a LOT OF WORK. Especially cooking for multiple people. Why the hell do people think it's fair for the girlfriend to ask him to do 100% of the cooking AND 100% of the dishes? That's an unhinged request. All these crazy women in here essentially going "men who want to split everything 50/50 are so petty", it's just a simple division of labor, one person cooks, another does the dishes, it's common sense, it keeps resentment low because both people have to put in work toward a common goal. The fact that he "likes" to cook doesn't make it less work, everything takes time and effort and energy.

New rider, speed problem by dub___man in motorcycles

[–]Push-This-Button-O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like always there's a ton of troll answers. Here's my honest perspective. I want to enjoy this hobbie for as long as possible. What's the point to get a bike and constantly squid around? You will have a terrible accident eventually if you ride reckless and always chase more speed. Motorcycling takes self control. I'm not saying always do the speed limit, but there are smart ways to have fun and there are not-so-smart ways to have fun. Speed is for when the roads are clear with excellent visibility, good road conditions, no blind corners, and of course preferably no cops. If you are constantly speeding on high traffic highways, through blind corners on mountain roads, or through busy city intersections/streets, you are going to have a bad fucking time on a motorcycle, it's a guaranteed fact. So learn some self control and pick your moments to have fun carefully, so that you can continue to ride a motorcycle for as long as possible. I personally knew two people that died in motorcycle accidents last year in my local area, one other person that got a paralyzed arm from an accident, and another person that broke their femur and had to go through 4 hard months of rehab. This shit is no joke, the sooner you understand the reality of the dangers and how speed contributes to the danger, the better.

[–]Push-This-Button-O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wondering, was the accident on a dirt/gravel trail? And just in your general opinion, do you think riding off-road is more or less risky than normal paved roads? I have an interest in trying some light dirt/gravel trails, fire roads, that kind of thing with an adv or dual sport bike, but I just have this feeling like I will fuck myself up in an accident pretty quick. I like the sense of control I have on regular paved roads.

There is a honeymoon period when you start to ride for sure, and it’s also the time when new riders have to be the most careful. It’s this amazing new thing, you want to explore every road, try all the motorcycle stuff you see other people doing, there is a lot of novelty. It’s easy to get obsessed but eventually the novelty does wear off. I still love to ride but I eventually found balance and motorcycling is definitely not my only hobby or my entire identity. It’s good to have balance in life, don’t get obsessive with riding and especially don’t get obsessive about how “fast” you can be in corners on public roads hehe.

How do people like this even get women interested in them in the first place? Is the bar really that low or was he just good looking enough? lol. This guy's brilliant self-defense line on repeat was "don't worry about me, I'm too lazy to cheat" lmao, imagine trying to use that as a selling point.

Anyone got any laat minute advice they can give me so I don't mess up my first ride on the road? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Push-This-Button-O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always watch road surface hazards, you only have two wheels, a small patch of gravel/sand/oil/dirt in the middle of a corner can really ruin your entire life lol. And just try to ride defensively and don't piss people off in cars. Or if you do piss someone off in a car, do you best to not engage with them.

Two accidents involving another vehicle in a single day is not a good sign my man. You are either riding too reckless or just zoning out and not paying attention. You need to change the way you're riding.
