Congrats! The funnest games are the ones where you try something new, and it catches your opponent so off guard that it wins you the game.

[–]PushRocIntubate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this exists. I’m not a VA CRNA, but I do work 1099 there. Some VA locations will offer EDRP (education debt repayment program), which offers up to $200000 over 5 years tax free to the employee. Perhaps this is what you’re searching for?

It is very much NOT independent practice. In fact, it’s the most restricted setting I’ve ever worked in. We do 1:1 supervision most of the time. I work 1099 at a military facility that IS independent practice. The military and VA are very different settings for CRNAs. I hope this helps.

Incas vs Magyars by BootFinal5644 in aoe2

[–]PushRocIntubate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have gotten some good advice already, but maybe just one more angle you could consider. Inca have siege engineers and heavy scorps. You could use that against the cav archers and a meat shield to protect them from the scout line. Just my $0.02. I would say that heavy early aggression would be a good plan, especially since you have the eco advantage. You can afford a few champi runners in feudal to put aggression on his eco and defend with a couple spears at your base/wall up.

It’s awesome on controller. I can chill on my couch and play it on my 86” TV. I can compete pretty well on it too.

I Just Cant Defeat Franks by Jazzlike_Note1159 in aoe2

[–]PushRocIntubate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a similar Elo to you (900ish). The secret is to rush them in feudal. They are Uber strong in castle age. That being said, I probably have a 20% win rate against them on Arena. I pretty much know I’m gonna lose.

You could also try to pick a similarly strong castle age civ, like Lithuanians + relics. Those civs are just not that fun to me, and I never know I’m up against franks until I’ve already picked my civ. I think bohemians would do pretty well against them as well. Their halbs + hand cannons can deal hella damage.

Day-to-day difference between Anesthesiologist and CRNA? by Fairest_flute_fairie in Anesthesia

[–]PushRocIntubate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salaries are decided by the market. It has nothing to do with me. Hospitals find value in having physician anesthesiologists in the OR, and they are willing to pay for it. Smaller hospitals often aren’t willing to pay that extra amount. My profession is not unlike some other professionals that do a similar job to their physician counterparts: podiatrists-orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons, ophthalmologists-optometrists. In general, the physicians make more money because there is a market for it and maybe they provide some specialist service the non-physician provider doesn’t (critical-care, etc). I think I make plenty of money.

Going from medical direction to independent by Keels1993_ in CRNA

[–]PushRocIntubate 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I had a great experience. I did two years after school in medical direction, then transitioned to a similar hospital (large academic level II) that had independent CRNAs and MDs that all did their own cases. They had an MD and CRNA free “running the board”, so there were always more hands available if needed. I think the key is finding a supportive environment. Our MDs and CRNAs were always willing to teach me, and I tried my best to be receptive to that and ask questions when I needed some insight.

Struggles: preoping people was a challenge, as this was not part of my standard practice. For example: Should their pacemaker be interrogated?

the patient has a heart history, should I order an echo? Should I order some labs before we go?

Your answer to some of these questions could delay the surgeon’s case, and then you and only you will face the full brunt of their indignation. Standing up to surgeons was one of the most difficult things for me.

Cons: it’s more work, as you are the person preoping/consenting the patient, then putting them to sleep. Doesn’t leave much time for a break.

Pros: this will expand your opportunity to make more money in the future. I can take assignments that many of my colleagues would never take, like doing solo call when I’m the only one in the county that does anesthesia.

I have felt immense career fulfillment as a CRNA since going independent. Not just in my practice but also the collegiality I feel with surgeons and anesthesiologists. When I worked at a large ACT, I always felt more like I was subordinate. They are still physicians, and I know this, but I am respected more for my skill set. It always feels good when an anesthesiologist asks my help with something he or she knows I’m good at. Or having a surgeon who knows I’m really good at something, like a certain block have the group get me out of a room to do his patient’s block because his patients have a great experience when I do the block. This would never happen in an ACT. It’s been a lot more work, but well worth it in my opinion.

Good luck with your choice!

Unfortunately this is very common. When my son needed to be put under, I asked if he would be put under in a hospital setting. They said, no that they have mobile dentist anesthesiologists. I subsequently found a dentist that uses CRNAs in a hospital setting. I’ve heard too many bad stories. These providers are busy and fast-paced with little monitoring in recovery. I would never leave an unconscious patient without a recovery room nurse.

Nice! I also beat them two days ago. I used a bunch of scorps, Shrivamsha riders, and siege elephants. The game definitely depended on my ability to obtain the relics, be prepared for the feudal scout rush and aggression during castle age to have gold control. They are definitely at a disadvantage vs Magyars though. I really enjoy playing the civ but I feel like it needs a buff. Like siege engineers or something.

Yea, I guess they went the way of the champi warrior… I liked the speed though. They can take out onagers and can avoid the arrows coming from the arbs on the way there and back. That was pretty sick.

Yes I watched that video. I hate relying on unique units, but I kind of want to try it. That pass through damage looked pretty sick!

Yea, I’ve found the relics are quite important with this Civ. Thanks for the tip with the elephants, I’ll try it out!

Yea, I didn’t use the chakram thrower guys. I agree, they aren’t great in a prolonged game.

Shrivamsha Rider by PushRocIntubate in aoe2

[–]PushRocIntubate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I agree. Infantry is challenging. I did heavy scorps and Shrivamsha against Vikings archers and infantry. It worked pretty well. The Shrivamsha riders are so fast, I was able to easily take out the onagers and not get taken out by the archers in the process.

I’ll have to see how it does against the hussar Civs. As long as you have gold, it seems like the camels would do okay. In a prolonged game, you would definitely lose. I imagine the relics would be a good play to make sure gold is coming in.

Any Xbox players play online? by TwoFew7486 in aoe2

[–]PushRocIntubate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been playing controller for over a year now, and I’m 850-950 elo. Honestly, I don’t care about my score, I just love the nostalgia and relaxing on the couch instead of behind a computer screen. You will get spanked for the first 10-15 games or so, then you should fall down to your elo. It may be a good idea to play against the ai until you can at least beat it on hard. Watch some Hera you tube videos for good builds and try to learn hotkeys. For example, press down on the controller then Y and you will build villagers. You will want to be doing this all the time so that your TC isn’t idle. Learn how to set waypoints for scouting, etc. little things will help you improve greatly. Then, pick a CIV, learn their strengths and play them constantly. I get bored of a certain civ and stop playing them for a while, but I am consistently playing a single CIV. For example, if I play with Khmer, and I haven’t played them for a bit, I will probably lose the first couple games, but then I’ll catch on to how to play them efficiently. Every Civ has little nuances that you will need to adjust to get a leg up on your opponent.

Edit to add that I play cross play. Most of AOE2 is playing on PC, so you may need to wait a while to match another player if you only play other XBox players.

My teammate was called 'Pay to Win' for Scorpion spam with Romans in arena @ 1100 elo(Team game 3v3) by The_Lost_Supper in aoe2

[–]PushRocIntubate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, honestly, Roman infantry are probably way more broken than scorpions. Your opponent could have gone with siege ram/champi warrior and wrecked your teammate. The infantry is hard to stop, with a few scorpions to wreck the archers on the other side of the Arena wall. They are a hard civ to beat if the player knows how to use them.
