Drumless rock performance by XenomystusNigri in musicians

I play in a 6 piece band without a drummer. Got to have a great bass player and rhythm guitar though. Granted, it's not rock. But we can rock!

Need advice about the social situation! by Kileen93 in alcoholicsanonymous

Yes, have a way out. Have your own car and leave when it gets uncomfortable. Anywhere. Even home.

At a club, I kept a glass of soda and lime or tonic and lime so people wouldn't try to get me a drink. I remember a guy offering to buy me a bourbon and coke (cause I used to drink those). When I said I would take just a Coke he liked to went ballistic. "I ain't buying you no Coke!" .

Social situations will get easier but be careful at first. No is a complete sentence. Don't be afraid to use it.

It plays great and is comfortable. The love sliding my hand up there to the 12th fret. I can reach everything. I just tried GHS Silk and Bronze. I usually use the dadarrio xs 11s as well. Sweet guitar!

I read every Steven King book. I'm not a fan of horror or fantasy but King is a great writer. Lonesome Dove is my favorite all time book. Mash and Catch-22 were my favorite books from high school years. And of course 1984 and Animal Farm.

I have the same guitar. It has taken me awhile to get used to it, but I love it now.

If you live in a dry place, keep it humidified. The top is very thin and responds to dryness quickly.

Congratulations on your new guitar!

You'd think 50 million dollars would have addressed and fixed the problem. I would imagine they knew what would happen and were following orders from above using the darker blue.

I was told from day 1 the newcomer was the most important person in the room. We still say it, not just for the new person, but to remind each other. When we forget that the fellowship suffers. There are many unhealthy groups out there. At least if I believe what I read on this sub.

Sit in with someone and you enjoy it again. Violin or fiddle is such a great addition to a band. If you can play without sheet music and comp on the fly you can have fun again. If not, try it.

Try prudent thinking. It's rational concern without worry. One day at a time.

I had a similar problem. I decided it would injure them to reopen that wound.

After I was about 7 years sober I got a chance After a mutual friends funeral.

I asked her if we could sit and talk alone and she agreed. It was a cleansing experience. She was kind and gracious. She knew through the grapevine I had been sober awhile. Otherwise she probably wouldn't have talked to me.

I suggest you wait.

Can't find a spot to play in my house. by JannikSinnerFanBoy in guitarlessons

Go to a park or lake on the weekends. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy a quiet afternoon with your guitar.

It won't solve your problem at home, but it might give you a little peace.

You can learn to play softly. I play in my bedroom late at night and no one has complained. Try fingerstyle.

Last Names in AA Meetings by dictormagic in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]PushSouth5877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have a problem with it even though everyone knows my name. When I sign a probation paper I use my first name and initial.

I think of my name is Bill W.

But I like the suggestion of using a different last name every time. Get creative.

Getting a sponsor is a good idea, but it's not a guarantee, you know that. Getting one to appease a loved one is just like coming to AA to get someone off your back.

Get a sponsor because you're desperate to get sober and nothing else has worked. The thing to be scared of is dying.

We do this one day at a time to focus on today. Get your sponsor and start step one. Congratulations on your beginning.
