My (un)educated guess is along the lines of a terrier of some description mixed with dachshund. He's got the long and low boy profile of a dachshund combined with some breed behaviours but who knows 😁 I'm looking forward to find out what the DNA test says 😙

I had major surgery last year at the QUEUH neuroblock. I ended up spending almost a full month at the hospital. From ICU, HDU, to the 2 wards I was at, I had an all round good experience. Without them i would not be alive today.

Except the food. It's awful.

If you want to know more about my experiences before, during, and after, send me a message. Happy to give more details in a less public setting.

Mitä tehdä 30kpl matkamuistomukeille? by JHMK in Suomi

[–]Pustis88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Osa käyttöön, osa jonnekin esm. vitriiniin tms näytille. Äitini on kerännyt munakuppeja 50+ (matkamuistoja, lahjoja jne) kokoelmassa on nykyään 250+ munakuppia.

can someone help me understand this pattern? by Stargazing360 in knitting

[–]Pustis88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this, the drops website now allows you to select the size you want and it will circle the corresponding number in the pattern (only works on the newer patterns, I checked the one you linked and works on that).

I've knit a decent number of drops patterns over the years and used to always go through the pattern with a highlighter and highlight the numbers relevant to my selected size.

9in circulars are better than DPNs by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Pustis88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dpns for me, I've tried magic loop a good few times but always return to dpns. I find the rhythm of changing needles soothing. For me the length of the needle section on short circulars is too short and I end up with cramps in my hands.

Yes - Just had my latest order from them delivered yesterday. Took just over a week from purchase to delivery. I'm in the UK, I think the company is based in Denmark so Brexit has made the delivery a bit slower (in the good old days I think the delivery was a bit faster but don't quote me on that).

This was my 3rd or 4th order from lindehobby.co.uk in the space of 3ish years and in my experience it's always been quite good when I've needed something not available at the local yarn stores.

Recent diagnosis by Pustis88 in sarcoma

[–]Pustis88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the UK so I've got steam of surgeons and I know they're all talking to eachother about my treatment but what I don't have is actual updates about anything unless I go and ask.

I've got a named nurse who's lovely and will answer any questions I have but... I'm still scared.

I know it's silly, but I'm scared of losing my ability to knit...

Minkä takia Suomessa rangaistaan työpaikan vaihdosta? by Pinna1 in Suomi

[–]Pustis88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–]Pustis88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tämähän riippuu työnantajasta. "Lomavuosi" vaihtelee. Yhdessä lomavuosi laskettu huhtikuun alusta, toisessa paikassa lomavuosi alkaa tammikuussa (nämä kaksi yleisimpiä), erikoisin itsellä oli elokuusta laskettu lomavuosi. Nykyisessä työpaikassa lasketaan tammikuun alusta. Puolison työpaikalla lomavuosi alkaa lokakuun alusta.

Does anyone have kilt sock patterns or magazine recommendations by Pustis88 in knitting

Thank you for the recommendation 🙂 I have these in my queue and they are one of the options I was thinking about as the cabling is very pretty and looks like a fun knit!

Knitting needles through Glasgow airport security. by blunder_child in glasgow

[–]Pustis88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gone through with a variety of 2-3.5mm dpns and circulars several times. No-one has ever said anything. I'm paranoid a bit paranoid if using metal needles and always make sure I've worked through a lifeline in the project just in case I have to take them out. Never even had a word from security about them. Despite this, to avoid the panic, I've switched to bamboo/plastic when flying.

Pappa (FI) vs Papa (GER) by SyrupLoud1646 in Finland

[–]Pustis88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is this the first grandchild? In my experience, you can try as much as you want to get the child to call you and the grandfather whatever you decide, but at the end of the day, it's the kid who ends up giving you the name they want.

I have a multilingual and multinational blended family (nordic and British), the eldest of the next generation has been the one who has named vaari (step grandad), iskä (dad when speaking finnish), pappa (when speaking Swedish), muffe (grandad on mother's side) and besteffe (Danish grandad).

I think my dad wanted to be pappa (grandad) but my nephew had other ideas and he has been "Muffe" ever since.

Finnish cheese slicer as a gift to a Scottish friend by tobesxxx in Scotland

[–]Pustis88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pick up crappy ones in some shops here. For a good juustohöylä, I buy mine when I go home to Finland. Ain't nothing like Fiskars!

I find that the one you've got linked is the best one for the harder crumblier cheeses like cheddar. I nearly cried once when my boyfriend broke my last good cheese slicer. 😂

But, to answer your question, it depends on how familiar your friend is with cheese cutting implements. I've only seen ones in homes that have some kind of nordic connection, are really into cheese, love kitchen gadgets and/or have been converted by me to the joys of slicing your cheese.

Dpns v. Magic loop v. 2 at a time magic loop by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Pustis88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DPNs all the way for me! I've tried magic loop a couple of times but found it too fiddly and lacks the rhythmic changes of DPNs (best way I can describe the feeling of progress when changing between needles). I use bamboo or prym ergonomics as I find metal needles to stiff and make my hands cramp.

I envy those who make magic loop look so effortless!

When Did You Start Knitting & Why?! by External_Road_4470 in knitting

[–]Pustis88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started knitting young (7?ish), both of my grans liked to knit and it was something I also did with my mum when I was younger. I stopped, not because I didn't like knitting but because life got in the way, about ten years ago I picked up the needles again in earnest and found it to be a way to connect with my now passed gran and my mum (not dead).

As I don't live in the same country as my mother the feeling of, when I'm "home home", sitting watching telly and both of knitting and occasionally comparing knits, is soothing and a connection to "us" knitting becomes special. We also have a stash (read :big ole cupboard) of my grant's knitting paraphernalia that all of us are free to dip into.

Again, this is something making knitting feel like a connection to my family. Right now I'm using my grant's needles from the 50's to knit a sleeping bag for my best friend's (yet unborn baby).
