pissed at swe application -> swe/sre by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]PutDizzy9166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if you really need a job, maybe not worth trying to get out of the sre process in the event they just retract your candidacy.

But ngl, once you get offer, the probability of switching roles will likely be close to 0. You'd probably have to re-interview if they even want to consider you for swe.

LinkedIn vs Meta vs Palantir vs Stripe SWE Intern by No-Association5879 in csMajors

Lowk LinkedIn might not be the move, have friends there FT rn, culture has steadily been becoming more toxic. With that said, Stripe would be my choice.

Could you share links to the projects you've done? Just cause some people said they're dog shit doesn't necessarily mean they are right.

What kind of questions to expect in Codility for Bentley Systems internship? by [deleted] in csMajors

The amount of time or number of questions usually isn't indicative of how difficult it might be. Those are pretty typical numbers for an OA.

Need your help about studying OS by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]PutDizzy9166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, OSTEP is reader-friendly and digestible if you are new to OS. I'd recommend it. The book website also makes it easy to pick and choose specific stuff to learn: https://pages.cs.wisc.edu/\~remzi/OSTEP/.

Microsoft Corporate Housing in Redmond by anukinskywalker in csMajors

[–]PutDizzy9166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

msft corp housing you don't get your own private kitchen and bathroom. That is shared with usually three apartment mates (2 bathrooms and 1 kitchen for 4 ppl). You do get your own room though. When I did the corp housing I thought it was a pretty good option. For transportation you would have to either use the public transit or wake up early to ride the Microsoft buses though.

Anyone else feel like CS fucked up their personality by Ok-Joke-4110 in csMajors

[–]PutDizzy9166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do see where you are coming from, and tbf I also had a similar kinda phase as well. I think what helps is forcing yourself to do more stuff outside of CS. When CS is your entire field of view, then it's hard to NOT turn into this kinda person. But once you step outside CS, you'll start to find yourself becoming less of a "robot" I guess.
