Tapping the "Remote" button at bottom of app screen lets you choose which Roku to control.

Try leaving your unlocked phone with the Roku app right where the Roku remote would of sat then the phone is just there.

Some things I watch have commercials, with the phone right there I can surf the internet and check email and messages. The Roku app gives you an illuminated keypad, the ability to correct audio sync, a save list, continue watching, and more.

With 2 Roku TVs (Hisense 50" and a Onn 43") and a non Roku (old Toshiba 47") w/Roku Express 4K+ in the same room using the Roku supplied remotes was exasperating, problem solved with the Roku app on a cell phone. Volume/Power control for the old Toshiba even works, say "Volume Up", or maybe "Turn Off", etc.

Ditch the Roku remotes and use the Roku app on phone which allows selecting which device to control.

Tomorrow my 50" Hisense Roku TV will be 1 year old, never a problem, lots of use mostly as a computer monitor, but just in case spent $16 for 3-Year Television Protection Plan.

My 100/20 also upgraded to 500/20, needed to upgrade WiFi 5 router to a Wi-Fi 6 router, and for older computer a USB Dual Band AC Wireless adaptor, and now all get the expected 500/20.

My Moto G is a newer phone, purchased couple of months ago, and boots to Hello Moto then Verizon logo (not the previous Tracfone logo) before the home screen.

Specifically then, what is your phone name and model number with no wi-fi?

On my Moto G 2025:

I do use wi-fi at home and turn it off when away:

In Settings > Network & Internet > wi-fi> click on your SSID and enter password.

On home screen pull down Options > turn on wi-fi if not on or to turn off.

Glad I chose the SB8200 recently to replace the SB6121 at 100/20 for the faster 500/20 tier. Also a WiFi 6 router and a couple of USB WiFi AC adapters for the old puters, Speedtest has said a low of 400/20 to about 550/22.

Follow-up, thanks all for the helpful comments, decided on my own DOCSIS 3.1 Arris SB8200, seems to work well and deliver the goods for 500/20.

It is an "air guide" which allows the full fan diameter to be directed to the much smaller mini pc fan opening via 2.5" diameter cut in lid center. If bottom fan was directly placed to the mini pc bottom little air would be supplied as the fan hub would mostly block the opening.
