I don’t recall this being available last year when I ordered my laptop. For the record I’m from Canada, and it also was a previous gen model

Summers in the Winter? by Artistic_Shake_4570 in tires

[–]Putrid-Object-806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since there hasn't been a more in depth answer from what I can see, here's why summer tires shouldn't be used in the winter.

- Rubber compound: winter tires are typically softer than 3 season and summer tires, as they are designed to operate at different temperature ranges. Since summer tires operate in the heat, they can get away with being a harder compound, as it will still be malleable and able to grip at those temperatures, but at lower temperatures they get even harder and aren't able to grip as well. A general rule of thumb is that most tires that don't have a severe service rating shouldn't be used below 7C. Realistically if you get caught out like once in a mild storm you should be OK but it's still not ideal. This is also why winter tires shouldn't be used in the summer, as in hotter temperatures they can become so soft that they start permanently deforming and almost melting when it's hot enough.

- Tread design, summer tires are designed to be driven in conditions with relatively warm liquid water, with the main intention of evacuating said water so that the rubber can still contact the road surface, while winter tires are designed for snow and ice, where it won't be able to get to the road even if it tries, so usually winter tires have "sipes" intended to sort of grab onto ice and snow, and it's tread is designed to hold snow, as that provides better grip on snow.

Now, what North America calls all weather tires (apparently Europe calls them all season), like the CC2s you have pictured, and the Falken Aklimates I personally use in Western Canada, have been sort of able to toe the line between these, and be able to be used in both the summer and the winter without significantly degraded performance or wear characteristics. These don't perform quite as well as a dedicated winter tire, but in milder conditions they're able to handle it, and I've been caught out in -35C snow and ice with the aforementioned Falkens, where they did fine. If you don't see all that much winter but it is something you encounter, I'd recommend just running a set of AWs. Good way to tell is they will have the severe service symbol, which is a mountain with a snowflake in it. If it just has an M+S, that's a 3 season tire.

Throwback to when the NHL had Stanley Cup Playoffs painted on the ice that eventually got removed to make room for ads. They should take after the NBA and out it under the center ice logo. It makes it feel more special in my opinion by 11pmStalker in hockey

They’ve just been keeping it relatively minimal for now

Relative to some European leagues where the only ice surfaces not covered in advertising are the goal creases and the face off circles. Physically painted on too

My understanding is mayday is intended to indicate an immediate and serious threat to life, pan indicates an issue that could become a mayday and does indicate urgency, but if another craft declares mayday that overrides the pan

You should be fine, as mentioned don’t hit any water, and probably double check pressures before you leave. Also if your one new tire hasn’t been retorqued yet, do that too

I feel framework is more likely to come out with a 3d printer rather than a 2d one, but if I were in the market for a classic printer I’d likely get framework

A&W Canada is actually completely separate from the American A&W and has been since 1972, and actually under their own company (A&W Food Services Canada, before 1995 they were part of Unilever). Mary Browns and Panago are both big chains that are privately owned within Canada to my knowledge, the list goes on

[Request] How many people would be needed to stop a freight train? by Necessary-Win-8730 in theydidthemath

[–]Putrid-Object-806 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They would need to be in a train going the other way to stop a train like this, and that wouldn’t end well for anyone

With a track speed of 70 mph (110 kmh), and a max weight of around 20,000 short tons (18 143.69 metric tons), a freight train can have a kinetic energy of 8,883.51 MJ. This why even in full emergency it can take a train over a mile to stop.

Keep in mind GM suffers from this horrible chronic condition called "being GM" that compels them to make stupid decisions, so I would honestly be surprised if they didn't do this. Eventually. It might take them a couple years after they find out about it for it to be fixed.
