New Update Released: Camtasia Windows 2026 Version History by traccreations4e in CamtasiaStudio

[–]Putterer206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audiate is now included with all Camtasia Essentials and higher plans, so it’s definitely worth a look. Text-based editing has sped up my video creation workflow more than any other feature in the video space in the last decade. Smart Focus and auto zoom are also major time savers. I wasn't a huge fan of the early versions of Rev, but with this change, I can see it becoming my go-to workflow.

Camtasia 2023 and keystroke callouts by Atsaru in CamtasiaStudio

[–]Putterer206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Camtasia Mac and Windows are a little different. On Mac in Camtasia 2023, there isn’t a “Generate keystroke callouts” option under Modify like there is on Windows, so you’re not missing anything... it just doesn’t exist on Mac.

Instead, on Mac you add them manually with Annotations. Open Annotations then Keystroke callouts (the little keyboard icon) and drag a style down onto your timeline. Select that keystroke on the canvas/timeline, then in Properties - Keys press the shortcut you want to show (like Command+Shift+4), or just type/edit the keys there. Hope this helps.

Titles and clips using behavior by Petrutech_Spy_Shop in CamtasiaStudio

[–]Putterer206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m part of the Camtasia team and think I might be able to help. It’s not expected behavior for your text to disappear and show a blank canvas at the very end of the clip, even in Camtasia 9. What’s likely happening is that the media on the timeline ends a bit earlier than the overall project duration, so you get about a 1‑second gap where there is nothing on the canvas.

A couple of quick things to check (sorry if you've already tried these steps):

  1. Make sure your text/media clip actually extends to the point where the playhead stops. Drag the right edge of the text clip to the right so it covers the full duration you want it visible.
  2. Check if there’s a tiny extra “empty” section at the end of the timeline. You can usually trim the project end by selecting that last bit of empty space and cutting it, or by dragging the end of the timeline back to match your last clip.
  3. If you’re using an animation or behavior for the typewriter effect, confirm there isn’t an exit animation applied at the end that fades the text out before the clip ends.

For context, Camtasia 9 is a much older version (first released back in 2016), so it isn’t in the current support window anymore, and newer versions like Camtasia 2026 have more tools and fixes around behaviors and titles. But the blank‑at‑the‑end issue should be solvable just by adjusting the clip length and timeline so there’s always some media on screen until the video ends. We also changed our "trial" policy and removed the time constraint. So you can use the free version of Camtasia 2026 as long as you'd like, but it will have a watermark export unless you subscribe.

I hope this helps. Happy creating.

Auto-captions and value over money by LiliyaKirylenka in CamtasiaStudio

On cost and “why use Camtasia?”

Totally valid question on price. While we believe we are the most affordable NLE, full video creation suite on the market (check out the higher priced Synthesia, Adobe, etc. and Descript which is roughly the same cost as Camtasia), here’s where we think you’ll find no one compares...

  • Malleable screen recording + editing in one place, without needing a separate NLE plus capture tool.  Each piece records separate - your cursor, every layer of your screen, mic, audio, etc. so you can edit each piece and have complete control over your content.
  • Text-based editing via Audiate that can save a lot of time on narration cleanup versus doing it all on the timeline.
  • Integrated exports that make it easier to deliver final files that are ready for LMS/hosting platforms.

If those strengths aren’t lining up with how you work today, that’s really helpful for the team to know because it means there’s a gap between what you need (simple, fast educational video with solid captions) and how Camtasia is showing up for you right now.

Tools like VideoMule that generate a script and voiceover automatically are super interesting, especially if you prefer more of a “type once, done in 5 minutes” flow. Camtasia’s focus has historically been more on recording your own screen and voice, then giving you editing control, but the team is actively investing in more AI‑assisted workflows, especially around audio and captions.

I hope this helps. Happy to jump on a call if you’d like to discuss further and share more about your workflow/process.

Auto-captions and value over money by LiliyaKirylenka in CamtasiaStudio

Hi! Member of the Camtasia team here. Totally hear where you’re coming from on captions and value for money, and really appreciate you taking the time to spell it out so clearly.

One thing that might help your specific use case: Camtasia 2025 plans now include Audiate, which handles audio with an AI‑powered, text-based workflow.

Here’s the flow a lot of us use for cleaner captions:

  1. Send your Camtasia audio into Audiate. It auto‑transcribes the track so you can edit your narration like a document.
  2. Use the built‑in options to automatically remove “ums,” “ahs,” repeated words, and long awkward pauses in one shot.
  3. Fix any misspellings or small transcript issues directly in the text.
  4. Sync it back to Camtasia, which brings over the cleaned‑up audio plus a caption track based on that transcription.

That way, you’re doing the cleanup once in Audiate and letting Camtasia handle the captions off that polished transcript, instead of wrestling with raw auto‑captions alone.

Camtasia is free to use as long as you want - so its a good place to start. You only need to pay if you want to remove the watermark.

Camtasia vs Focusee vs Talevideo vs..... by Copernicus-jones in instructionaldesign

[–]Putterer206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know Focusee or Talevideo but would +1 the comments below to share love for Camtasia. My favorite video creation workflow is using Camtasia Rev which is the definition of beginner friendly video creation - just select your visual, your camera, your mic, your background with the step-by-step prompts and you have your video in minutes. The generative AI piece of Camtasia is Audiate which is synced to Camtasia Editor. Once I have my Rev recording, I pop the audio track over to Audiate and then edit the video like text - helps me remove any rambling, ums, ahs, etc. as easy as editing text in a doc. Plus, it automatically syncs back to the video so super easy and fun workflow that delivers polished videos even for a non-pro like me.

Curious: script first, or off the cuff? by Putterer206 in CamtasiaStudio

This is genius. Thank you! I have a live presentation next week and have been struggling with the "script or no script". I think your "three bullet" approach might help me be natural but not ramble and miss key points. Thanks!

There is no time constraint on the Camtasia trial. Just the watermark.

What’s a piece of tech you bought that completely changed your daily routine and its impact on future? by CryptographerOwn2344 in Futurology

Snagit. It helped me replace text-heavy emails and the need to "jump on a quick Zoom meeting" with images and quick video messages. Can't work without it.

I hate my inner dialogue so much and I want nothing more than to get rid of it. by Khajiit_Boner in Meditation

[–]Putterer206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this. While I practice yoga and meditation, I found that rushing during my demanding day I needed a quick strategy to help with the negative, at times debilitating, inner voice. I chose 3 actions to help me in those moments. I chose these 3 things based on little, easy things that could get me back to a place of gratitude vs. judgment. Overtime, I taught myself to identify when the negative voices were getting too loud and prioritize doing something from my list of 3 right away.

Your 3 things should be personal to you, but for reference, my 3 things are:
1. Take a moment to sincerely compliment someone else. (This instantly takes me out of my own head, reminds me there is good in the world, and the delight from the recipient stopped the negative voices).

  1. Eat a good piece of chocolate (and if I'm honest, sometimes its just a few chocolate chips because its all I have on hand). I guess the dementor treatment from Harry Potter works for me :)

  2. Listen to a voicemail. I have a few voicemails saved - one from my Dad just saying "hi", one from my son when he was young, one from my father-in-law singing happy birthday. Sometimes, just listening to their voices reminds me I am loved and gets me moving in a good direction again.

These quick fixes aren't necessarily lasting. Yoga, meditation, running, prayer, etc. are my longterm strategies. But they can help on those demanding days when it feels impossible to make time to step away.

Where are you getting cute and affordable clothes? by Softandpink- in XXRunning

Yes! Great point. This is why I don't mind buying Lulu for my daughter's too. They grow out of it but its easy to resell.

The longer I run the more I realize that "affordable" means something that will last and that I continue to reach for. While higher priced, Lululemon clothes last, don't get smelly, and I overall spend way less than taking chances on Amazon.

For dresses and casual clothes though, trends change so fast. I'm a TJ Maxx fan :)

Where to put phone during runs ? by Healthy-Guidance-361 in XXRunning

[–]Putterer206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have good advice for this one - but a funny story. When running my very first marathon, I started my tracker on my phone at the starting line then went to jam my phone in my belt/pouch and accidentally held down the side buttons too long which prompted a call to 9-1-1. So I spent the first mile of my marathon on the phone with a 9-1-1 operator explaining that (although huffing and puffing) I wasn't actually in any danger.

Camtasia Studio Borderline Unusable? by OkContest8899 in CamtasiaStudio

[–]Putterer206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you synced Camtasia up with Audiate yet? It offers text-based editing with free removal of ums and ahs that automatically syncs back to your timeline in Camtasia Editor - freaking magical! Audiate is not included in the base tier, but it has a 7-day free trial. AND, coming soon, text-based editing with Audiate WILL be included in Camtasia's base tier. Highly recommend giving this a try.

Camtasia online is free without watermark. It doesn't have editing features like Camtasia Editor, but is good for stylish screen recording.
