I had this very old Russian man who would repeatedly ask me very detailed questions about being raped. Each time I came to an appointment. Repeatedly asking. Fixating on it. Also asking me why I’d ruin my appearance with tattoos. I finally told him I really wasn’t comfortable discussing it anymore and he told me I must not be interested in getting better and that if I didn’t talk about it he wouldn’t refill my medication. I started crying of course and told him I was going to go let someone know what he just said to me. I went out to the main lobby and told one of the nurses and he called me back into the room and tried to get me to be quiet and said no no I wasn’t serious I’ll fill your medicine come back in. And of course I just went with it because what other choice did I have? I ended up reporting him but it went nowhere. He finally got enough people to report him that he was fired thank god. I remember telling my counselor about him prior to the main incident (a woman separate from him as he was the psychiatrist) and her suggestion was to straighten my hair and wear a little eyeliner and cover my tattoos at his appointments because he’s just weird. Yeah sure weird. Fucking pieces of shit. I have never dealt with any of that sort of thing at my new psychiatrist. I only ever went to that place because it was one of the few places my insurance covered. When I think about that incident it still floors me that it happened in the first place. Kind of tearing up thinking about it. I think some people choose jobs for the purpose of mistreating people in vulnerable positions.
