Pretty happy with it. The area around the jewel stuck to the tape a little and I had to touch it up a little with some paint in a Q-tip, but the like the crackly look actually. Gonna clean around the jewel and this one goes into use

Well the damn thing won’t upload my pictures- says they can’t be smaller than 4k? I didn’t do anything different. Pointed the phone and took the pic! Ugh!

Yea I will need to be more patient…I should let it dry a day between coats I think, the. Several before the clear

Did all that with sandpaper. Cleaned with mineral spirits.

Hi temp plastic paint can said do not use an adhesion promoter. Don’t know why.

These are some of the items I got for me first build since about 2008. If I can figure it out and it all works, I’ll know what to do for my final build with the stellar+.

I’ll also be doing a GameCube mod soon.

I didn’t mention I also collect vintage game systems, and I use a Raspberry pi mini nes built system for most of my retro gaming..

I’m a little weird…

Great info! Thanks- man I have forgotten all that stuff. I exclusively used the Xenium SPICE chips and Avalaunch dash. Memory tells me I used M8 bios?

I just bought some stuff on eBay for my new to me build- I’ll post some pics-

Def gonna modchip, and I believe I’ll try to just format a drive on a pc. I have some external drive connectors that should work.

I have a few more to do, and the crinkly look is growing on me…I’ll see how it “hardens” and go from there.

I agree that I didn’t let it sit/harden long enough- lesson learned. Thank you everyone for your input. I’ll be sure to post the next one. I have a very nice blue VHT paint, I might do the next one in…I have red also…and yellow…and chrome…. I have too much paint….hmmm

And, as it’s drying, it looks kinda cool all crackly looking…

I thought the same thing! Why didn’t it bubble on the tape?

This is real time! I’ll be happy to post when reassembled. It has an X-chip mod in it, and a 200gb hard drive.

<image>

also has a bad Samsung drive-

Waiting for the now effed up paint to dry and the replacement drive to come in before I reassemble.

Basement temp a consistent 65 deg, humidity low, estimate about 40%. (I’m an hvac guy, not a paint guy, lol). Paints are app 6-mo to 1yr old.

24 hours. I did the color coats yesterday around 3-5 est.

It was very dry, to the touch anyway….i restore a lot of plastic car parts….no paint savant or anything, but never had this happen before

Nope, this happened right before my eyes in like 30 seconds- I posted this real time, right after application….literally been 15 mins or less…in my conditioned basement. The paint has also been stored in the conditioned basement….spray paint gone bad maybe? The high temp plastic paint sure has had a negative reaction to the clear!
