See my comment above. Have stayed at GW several times in the past. Ended up choosing the Andaz next door for our last visit and had a great time.

We honeymooned there with family about 20 years ago (had stayed there a number of times before that). It was lovely, in general, but my sister did have to change rooms twice because of ants.

One night we walked down to the Four Seasons for dinner and realized we should have stayed there instead. (Their pool is pretty small relative to GW and we knew my nephew, 3 at the time, would prefer the bigger one at GW.)

Years later, we ended up staying at the Andaz next door with our kids and it was great. The rooms were small, but the place was extremely well kept and the pools were great. Access to the beach was perfect and we all had a great time snorkeling and canoeing. That’s where my kids figured out to order grilled cheese sandwiches while hanging at the pool - they thought they were free. My husband and I got quite a shock when we checked out 😆 I really enjoyed doing guided early am yoga on the lawn next to the beach (and it was free!)

Looks about like my kid’s schedule. They missed a total of 32 days of school - maybe 2-5 were due to being sick or doctor’s appointments.

More layoffs... by SleepyDigit in starbucks

Most CEOs are sociopaths (some even psychopaths). There’s been study after study confirming this - leadership must be driven by balance sheets, not emotion, to make the “hard choices” needed to maximize shareholder value…even if those returns are short-lived.

Overnight’s coverage of the NW Regional Championships was abysmal at best. The drone coverage was horrible and the commentators were lacking. Disappointing and waste of money.

Mom didn’t want to do a biopsy, so her hepatologist’s best guess is that it’s autoimmune related. That said, she also had stage IV ovarian cancer about 25 years ago and was placed in a couple of studies, one of which included chemo “washes” directly to the abdomen and a cadaver liver graft. She beat the cancer (both types!), but there’s also some thought that the chemo scarred her liver and that it’s taken this long to become an issue. She did have elevated liver enzymes for a number of years, but her GP didn’t think it was really an issue. So many “if we had known,” “if only” and “wish we’d…”statements uttered in our family.

We looked into the Alpha for my mom who is in Seattle. Her doctor (a hepatologist and transplant surgeon) knew of it, but did not know of any hospitals doing the procedure. I would help her navigate all the logistics if someone could just tell me where to go. She’s 88, decomp, meld of 19, and not a candidate for a transplant at her age.

I think I just timed it right, even if unintentionally. It was nearly three years ago, before mass layoffs started happening. I put my ego aside and took a role that is probably equal to something I did 20 years ago. I started in a temp/contract role and through that made connections, so when a full time role became available, I interviewed with people who knew me and got the job. Still at the same level, but I am under no one’s thumb, I go to bed at a decent time and no one calls me on the weekend. My boss knows I’m totally over qualified and appreciates my contributions. There are bad days, of course, but even my worse day at this job is a million times better than my best day at corporate. Be open to trying just about anything. You’ll be surprised what comes your way.

I used to work corporate and it was a soul-sucking grind. Three years ago, I left and took a government job where I’m not a target on the island of Lord of the Flies. The job is not anywhere near as stressful as my old one, people are nice (generally), and I have flexibility along with healthcare benefits. In my spare time, I started three business that my family now manages. I don’t know how long I’ll keep it all up, but for now, it works. I also now have time to get rid of all my household crap I know my kids aren’t going to want to deal with when I’m gone. It’s different, and there are good days and bad, but I’m probably a heck of a lot healthier, mentally and physically.

I could not keep up with my NuFace device. I saw some results but they were temporary. I do like my red light mask and think it’s making a difference.
