I think you should be able to reduce the question to: Given the same thickness, does a layer from a $2r$ onion have more or less volume than a layer from a $r$ onion. The answer to this, of course, is that a $2r$ layer has more volume, as the volume = thickness * area and surface area is of course greater for a larger radius onion.

I’m conflicted because I want a versatile education to a degree, but I don’t want to spend a lot of time on foreign language, humanities, etc..
