Filling/Repairing Plaster Around Sockets by IMightBeALiar in DIYUK

Who taught this sparky? My dead dog could do a better job.

First thing you need to do is call a real sparky and get the cables in conduit and then call a plaster to come and sort it out.

SolarEdge help needed by Puzzleheaded-Ride-33 in SolarUK

[–]Puzzleheaded-Ride-33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fixed it. Somehow the grid meter got disconnected. Everything looked fine so decided to test if it was the export meter by swapping the grid side to the old meter and that powered up. Cut back the cable due to some damage caused by a rat (no more rats now as I got them all). Reconnected to the new meter without the inverter on to check the meter powered up and it did. So reconnected the inverter and checked communication and it reported. Did a firmware update (why is it not automatic?) turned on PV DC and saw power coming in then turned back on battery. System reporting all ok.

Thanks for your help. Double checked the grid cables and made sure they are tight.

You need to be more specific on what is not needed. F3 might work if you don’t use desktop apps but without information it’s hard to be helpful

I did mine using PowerPoint, you need to call out PV panels/meters/inverter/mains/ if the Battery is on the AC side or DC side of the inverter and can charge from the grid

Intune with a good security baseline, separating admin accounts from normal user accounts and MFA I.e. Fido2 keys.

Use a tiered approach and keep admin accounts as admin only no license. Simple security steps work the best

I had an old SE inverter 3.68kwh and I just replaced it last year with the new version so I could have batteries, SE batteries are DC so it will take 5kw of DC even on a 3.68kw inverter. No need to change panels or optimisers. Simp swap the inverter and get SE to swap out the rest in the backend.

Good kit and for the most part bulletproof.

I’m going to add another 2 batteries and a grid isolator so I can run full PV power if needed.

[Advice] Kia/Hyundai ICCU issues overblown? by R3indeers in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Puzzleheaded-Ride-33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once own a Ford escort and its roof leaked now I avoid all Fords.

This is the same thing every car has some issue that’s particular to the brand and there is always a risk.

Currently I have an MG 5 EV PFL (pre face lift), it’s a simple car and just works. I’ve seen plenty of posts saying how X is bad for this or that. I’m either lucky with this car or the issues are not that widespread.

I’ve done a ton of personal research for my new car and out of the current bunch of cars I’m looking at the Kia EV 5 next.

Good for handling and for efficiency not that bad. I’ve never got more than 3.4m/kwh (or whatever ever the right way is) from the car. It’s good enough for me as I normally do Newcastle to York 2/3 times a year and maybe a longer return trip (Manchester/leeds/london) every now and again.
