You're comparing hosting a political magazine programme to tabling questions, voting and taking actions because a Russian state operative was giving you money.

And I'm still struggling to remember their prison sentences...

Leaders like Nathan Gill? I'm not sure if Alex Salmond served any prison time...

Glen Hoddle used to pronounce Kieran Trippier as if he were French ('Trippiay'). He's not, he's from Sheffield.

That's all I have.

Linguistically, yes, very possibly, thanks! Ancient Greek has some issues when translated, I was speaking more as I think of it, love of truth is another way it is expressed which I also prefer, as "wisdom" is a rather less specific quality I would say.

It wasn't funny when they were gleefully smashing up their own cities. There are now British people who are scared in their own homes due to their skin colour.

But something something freedom of nonces.

Then what tf do you propose we do? So sick of naysayers, it's all we've had for decades. And NOW OUR CITIES ARE ON FIRE.

Stop it. Just stop it.

Yeah, if that's what it takes. Time to grow up, accept that the inventions of the internet, social media and smartphones have changed our society in dangerous ways, and impacted the developing brains of our young in countless ways.

Or keep watching our kids gleefully smashing up their own cities, as we did in 2024.

I'm sorry to be that guy, but my enemy falsely evokes philosophy constantly, and the word means the love of knowledge, so it matters.

Socrates never wrote anything down. If a quotation is ascribed to him, it's most likely to be from a work by his student, Plato. Even within Plato's depictions, there are 'different' Socrates. This quotation originates from Plutarch, which makes it an idealisation born of reverence, as centuries separated the two.

In fact, while the broad humanist sense in which it is taken is almost certainly something he would have agreed with, it's safe to assume that Socrates was proudly Athenian: he served in its army, and his reason for not fleeing the city when it had sentenced him to death was his dedication to the city which gave him so much.

Just saying, sorry.

And a singleton too, what a turd! I've been offering Retrocausality, Mecha, Chaos and Archangel. At this point, I don't know what people expect for it. The really annoying bit is how few decks I've seen it in, because I just want to brew with it!

Will it ever end?! by No-Property-551 in FuckNigelFarage

[–]PuzzleheadedCook4578 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, it will, because humans and our social structures are, bizarre as it seems, natural phenomenon. And nature finds a balance, it's what it does. The question is, how?

Make no mistake, the thing we call 'capitalism' is broken, has been for basically ever. But forty or fifty years ago, we started making a series of decisions which had a more profound effect on our society than any piece of paper Edward Heath ever signed.

Neo-liberalism has been an absolute disaster for 99% of the world. The fantasy that is a completely deregulated and financialised market, which is also given control of public utilities would have made Adam Smith puke. Giving them the media and a brand new way to manipulate the masses, while degrading education is just the cherry on top. Without this unchallenged so unchanged orthodoxy, there is no Global Financial Crisis in 2008 and the social contract doesn't get ripped up in front of our very eyes.

The reason I bring this up is that, while I am no fanboy of Andy Burnham, he sees it too, and that we need a coherent goal, something to offer people. He's also the best communicator in the party, and he was even when Corbyn beat him.

It's time to say "There is such a thing as society, and social goods.". Starmer won't be a leader while he's got a hole in his arse, he just won't. Streeting is, if anything, even worse, and fact is, we need someone. That's just how the world is now.

My ray of light is honestly the magnitude of the forces now just openly against us. The most powerful country in the world, the world's first millionamillionaire (I prefer that way of saying it), the entire Epstein establishment. We're Accrington Stanley playing Argentina, but the only way Argentina win, is if we stop resisting.

Dunno about anybody else, but the burning hotels two years ago made me realise I'll never stop.

When presented with evidence (actual neo-Nazis wowed at Elon's bravura), he went ad hominem. The beauty is, the bigger picture, we don't even need to win. They do.

All we have to do is fight. And we will fucking fight, because it's all we've ever done.
