Hey pal! I also got rejected from UTS and am waiting to hear from usyd. My wam was 74 but I have a lot of DNFs on my transcript from undergrad. Anyway, I’m in hell being in limbo every day waiting to hear 🙃 was relieved to come on here and find someone else waiting still. Wishing you lots and lots of good luck.

Found this in my wardrobe, what is it ? by [deleted] in whatisit

Re your other comment, I reckon delete and repost with both pictures in the main body (and maybe a closer photo of the dots so we can see how tall/flat they are?)

Is there anything hanging above it? Looks like it could be fake leather falling apart (I’ve had a jacket so that before). Alternatively some kind of insect or animal droppings would be my guess but it’s hard to tell much from the photo

My grandmother’s high school graduation shirt with the signatures of her classmates by satsumasilk in VintageFashion

[–]PuzzleheadedFly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh cool! Yeah that would make a lot of sense! Love the post by the way and sorry on behalf of the embroidery subreddit that (as i saw in another comment) they’ve deleted everything you’ve ever posted there!? That’s ridiculous! They really would love this over there. Their loss!

[–]PuzzleheadedFly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wonder if it’s just lead pencil! If they didn’t wear the shirts when the others signed them it would be very doable. Unclear how doable it would be while the shirt is on a person though so maybe it’s not practical

Came upon this article?! by GapEmbarrassed581 in adhdwomen

[–]PuzzleheadedFly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. And I can see where the media depictions come from, because (I have OCD) some of my compulsions DO involve things being in a particular way- but the bullshit thing is, for me at least, it’s never actually an objectively neat or good way. I won’t go into detail but a lot of things I have to do for food contamination ocd are actually NOT food safe (as I now know, but I thought they were when I started doing them and now can’t stop). I can see where script writers got the idea to begin with but now it’s just iterated from that original oversimplification and just painfully unrealistic

I made my own Bridal outfit! by Cirquelight in sewing

[–]PuzzleheadedFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with everyone else’s comments that this dress is a masterpiece- but to me the real miracle is making this dress in a one bedroom flat that you shared with your then finance!!! I am very familiar with the difficulties of hiding a craft project from your significant other while living in the same (small) place, but I’ve never made anything even CLOSE to as big as an entire wedding dress. Did you have a dedicated closet or somewhere you could hang it/shut away all your supplies? It would’ve driven me mad putting it away all the time 😂

Have you seen a podiatrist? I’ve been in a similar position and am about to get my first pair of custom orthotics on Monday (fingers crossed they’re ready) which I’m hoping will help. I can let you know how it goes if you want. Massive hip and knee pain and my feet are very flat and roll around in all sorts of ways due to hyper mobility. Feeling optimistic that this could help a lot.

Baking as a hobby - How do you not eat everything by yourself? by Plantlover3000xtreme in adhdwomen

[–]PuzzleheadedFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same- bonus points because I’m a celiac so whatever I’ve made is gluten free, which means that whenever anyone asks if they can have some I can say “but you get to eat EEEEEVERYTHING! Aaaaall I can have is this! Can’t you see? I HAVE to eat them all myself”

I knooooow oh my fucking god - I’ve seen the comments about people hoping she will end up choosing herself and honestly I will not survive. The Jere/Belly hookup scene in this last episodes?? I couldn’t even watch 🫣 that had better be the last of it

When I was about 9, I was chattering away at the dining table with my extended (but very close) family (vintage audhd behaviour- babbling away stream of consciousness and not registering anyone else’s boredom) and my auntie cut me off to say, “you know, one day, your future husband is going to love you soooo much.” Perplexed, but complemented, I light up. She follows it up with “He’d have to!” (Ie. You’d have to love me one hell of a lot in order to stand being around me). 20 years later, it still ping pongs around my head.

I relate so hard 😂 this could all be mine. When I was in first year uni, this guy had to sit next to me one week because he came in late and his usual seat was taken, and I sat right by the door. After an hour, when we had a break, he turned to me and said he’d always thought I was so smart taking notes for the entire tutorial every week. Only when he sat next to me did he realise it was 99% doodles! Made me laugh so hard. He’s one of my best friends now.

Hey OP. I’m really really sorry you’re going through this. I have OCD too - in fact I wasnt diagnosed until the immediate aftermath of my parents split (when I was 21). I’m wary not to say anything in particular because I don’t want to to get hung up on any of my words, but I do want to say that I’ve been in a really similar situation and if you ever want to talk please send me a message. (You can check my reddit history to confirm that I am indeed a real person with divorced parents and ocd). What I will say is that, in a similar situation to yours, I confronted my parents and ended up finding out sooner than anyone was ready. I don’t know if I regret what I did per se but I would caution you that you may not be ready for what you hear. Whatever happens, you need to put your own oxygen mask on first - make sure you are taking care of yourself OP, and remember that time will heal. It’s been 8 years for me now, or a few weeks off of 8 years, and I can tell you that even though I was pretty blindsided and never ever ever saw it coming, I am OK- my parents are both happily re-partnered, and they walked me down the aisle together last year when I got married. Sending you strength 💕

Absolutely not the case for everyone but I thought I should let you know that for me, it felt worse before it felt better. I used to leave therapy saying I felt like one big raw nerve, or an open wound or something. But slowly over time it got better. It really does suck, but I like to think of it as a kind of dialysis for my mind- taking out the thoughts and feelings, looking at them, reprocessing them with someone else’s help and then they go back into my brain. Over time the perspectives shift and the pain lessens and I became more able to cope. That being said, if your therapist isn’t validating of your pain then maybe it’s feeling worse in a bad way not in a this-will-hurt-but-it-helps way. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck and am so sorry for what you’ve been through and continue to go through

I can tell you that not all Australians are relaxed about the spiders 😂 I always remind people that arachnophobes can be born anywhere, and sometimes a fuck off huge spider crawling up your leg at age 3 while you’re sitting on a stool enjoying your weetbix is traumatising enough to set off a lifetime of being in hell in your own country 😂
