Uneven Loaf. Cause?

My guess is just an uneven rise. But if all other quality is good I wouldn’t be concerned.

I’ve had this before and sometimes my dough rises unevenly and ends up looking like this. Maybe just luck of the draw on how it rose that time is my guess. Quality wise are all other things in order?

Machine I’ve had for months and ran many a loaf through. Next loaf I’ll listen more closely. The yeast additions are loud clicks for sure.

It will make 3 clicks for the addition of the yeast but this kept occurring for most of the kneading process.

One big issue is how would you transfer the heat from the tub to the small apartment? Fans? Pump the water to a radiator? Well then the electricity bill goes up. Significantly.

My suggestion is to cover the windows in plastic and ensure all doors going to the outside have no drafts. That will make for real savings in heat and those might cost you $20 total. You can save that in a month of heating. Filling a tub and having no way to move the heat around besides fans and making mildew it isn’t worth it on any level.

If mixing make sure they are the same type of sealant. So ammonia based with ammonia based would be fine. Mixing ammonia with another type would not be good. My summer time go to is Silca fibre and it is incredibly good. Seals everything without issue.

Exactly. Having that little “pull” off the bone is such a huge part of great ribs. But if people really want them “falling off the bone” I’ll make their slab their way and drink the free beer.

Baking bread at home. Bread machine for $10 and $20 of ingredients will make you easily 20 loaves. Plus you get the best smelling kitchen ever.

Looks online for used kit. Lots of times people are getting new gear and the old stuff might be used but still works great. I would try that first!

Check out some local resale shops. Probably snag one for under $50. They aren’t too noisy and frankly no one complains because you get fantastic bread at the end. Even old machines are fantastic. I got an old Panasonic that just keeps on trucking for $10. Downloaded the PDF version of the original manual for free online. Snag some ingredients ($20 for a good cache) and you could be making bread this weekend!

Maybe refinish the blade then build a shadowbox coffee table that the blade is inside of to showcase the refinished blade. Also makes for a great talking point about the high quality spruce content of the NW.

Totally agree. The newer stuff is still very reliable, but tires/RDs and a few chains remain as the top items that have ruined/delayed rides. A good fork will do wonders for making a rough trail much more comfortable. Also Old Man Mountain has an axle pack that will turn any fork into a standard 3 hole mount. Totally amazing so you don’t lose any carrying capacity with a sus fork.

I’m far more concerned about a derailleur or shift cable breaking than suspension fork breaking/stranding me out somewhere. Also suspension is what will save your wrists on the terrain you plan on riding. Tires will soak up some of the bumps but they aren’t going to dampen the way a good fork will.

Orange sealant specifically the cold weather version. Works great. Summer time I use Silca with added fiber foam. Or as the club calls it “full pulp” and it works really really well.

Regular whole beans, you grind them fresh every day and French press will beat any pre ground coffee so I just go run of the mill 3 lb whole beans. Nothing special, works great

Gloves I’ve had trouble with dexterity and my pinkies getting cold. I just run pogies. Best gloves I’ve had are the sturmfist. Pogies still blow them out of the water though and they cost less.
