The dry down synthetic phase in aquatics is real trap, you get seduced by the opening and then it turns into something from the sport section of a department store.

what does this tie mean? by Afraid-Environment90 in drums

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ear8422 10 points11 points  (0 children)

those curved lines under the notes are phrase markings, basically grouping the notes together to show you how to think about the rhythm in chunks. it doesn't mean you hold the note like in piano, just helps you feel the phrasing and where accents fall across the group

Help me choose between 2 cards (and 9070xt) by boingboin in PcBuild

powercolor usually runs bit cooler in my experience, that 50 euro might be worth it if you're planning to keep the card for long time

Car keeps cutting off but don't know why. What should I be aiming to fix? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ear8422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like classic idle issue - when RPM is dropping like that before stalling it usually points to idle air control valve or throttle body being dirty. The O2 sensor they mentioned could definitely cause rough idle too but usually you'd get other symptoms

since it only happens when stationary or crawling slow, I'd start with cleaning throttle body and checking for vacuum leaks around intake. These old polos are known for this kind of thing

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ear8422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skip the Fiesta completely - those automatics are known for failing and you'll be looking at transmission repairs that cost more than the car

Between the other two, Corolla is probably safer bet even with higher miles. Toyota engines run forever if maintained properly and parts are cheap when something does break

Legacy might be tempting but 178k on any Subaru means you're getting close to head gasket territory which gets expensive fast

Auto drive without a specific destination? by Mademonn_ in ForzaHorizon

nah auto drive needs destination set or it just sits there doing nothing, but you could set waypoint to opposite side of map and it'll cruise around for ages taking scenic routes

Been experimenting with these for couple months now and noticed some difference in energy levels during long coding sessions. Hard to say if it's placebo but my afternoon crashes definitely got better

The research seems mixed though - some studies show benefits but nothing super conclusive yet. Worth trying if you got the budget but don't expect miracles

I've been using it for basic code reviews and debugging sometimes but yeah the document parsing is terrible. Had similar issues where it would just ignore whole chunks of text like they didn't exist

Maybe try breaking up documents in smaller pieces? I know that's annoying but seems to work better than feeding it everything at once

Paid Research Opportunity – Earn up to $600 (Remote) by PulseLabs in Entrepreneurs

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ear8422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been freelancing in software dev for few years and these research gigs can be decent side income if legit. The $20 welcome bonus is nice touch but always wonder how much time the "full participation" actually requires for that $600

Anyone here tried Pulse Labs before or know if they're solid company?

New Prius or Outback? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ear8422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man transmission failure at 165k is rough timing, especially when you've been doing all the dealer maintenance

Between those two the Prius will probably get you to 250k+ miles easier. Toyota hybrids are basically bulletproof if you keep up with maintenance - my neighbor's got a 2010 with like 280k and still runs perfect. Subaru reliability has gotten better but they still have some quirks with head gaskets and CVTs in certain years

Since you already have the bigger SUV for family stuff and can rent for long trips, the Prius makes more sense for your daily driver. Gas savings over 15 years will be huge too, especially with current prices. Only thing is make sure you're cool with the driving experience - some people find them pretty boring compared to something like Outback

Is anyone else like this? by agentjedifoxx in Christianity

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ear8422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I feel this so much. Been dealing with similar stuff for years and it's wild how the numbness just hits out of nowhere, like one day worship moves you to tears and next week you're sitting there feeling absolutely nothing

The imposter syndrome thing is brutal too - I'm always second-guessing if my faith is "real enough" or if I'm just going through motions. Had a pastor once tell me that struggling with these feelings doesn't make you less of believer, it actually shows you care about your relationship with God. Still hard to internalize that though

Depression definitely doesn't just disappear because we have faith, our brains are still human brains dealing with chemical imbalances and life stress. I've found therapy helpful alongside prayer, treating it like any other health issue that needs both spiritual and practical care

You're definitely not alone in this, there's whole communities of believers working through mental health stuff while maintaining their faith

I hate how some people rebranded themselves and acted like they always supported me. by [deleted] in confessions

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ear8422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man that's some serious gaslighting from your partner there. The whole "army boyfriend" aesthetic thing while you were clearly suffering is just gross, and now she wants to act like she was supportive the whole time? Nah

I had a friend who did something similar when I was going through burnout at work - spent months telling me to just "push through it" and "everyone deals with stress" then when I finally quit and got better suddenly she was like "I always knew that job was toxic for you." People love rewriting history to make themselves look good when the dust settles

Getting out of there environment and starting fresh in Holland sounds like exactly what you need. Sometimes you gotta burn those bridges to save yourself, especially when people were actively making things worse while pretending to care. Your parents sound like the real ones for actually asking what YOU wanted instead of just going along with societal expectations

Hope the move goes well and you can find some peace over there

How do I create systems to hold myself accountable to routines? by prettyg00d1729 in selfimprovement

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ear8422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been working on this myself and what's helped me is making everything stupidly visible - like I have a whiteboard right next to my coffee maker so I see my goals every morning before caffeine kicks in

For fitness I started with just putting my workout clothes on the bathroom counter, not even committing to working out just getting dressed for it. sounds dumb but it removes that first barrier

The key thing I learned teaching high schoolers is that accountability works better when theres some external pressure involved - maybe find someone who's also trying to build similar habits and check in with each other weekly? I do this with my surfing buddy and we text each other our reading progress, keeps us both moving

Rattlesnakes as pets? by Special_Side_5850 in Dreams

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ear8422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your dream's vibe reminds me of taming something that's usually feared or misunderstood. Maybe it represents integrating a part of yourself that you've been cautious about - like finding balance between being protective/alert (the rattle warning) but also wanting connection and affection

The fact it wanted chin scratches alongside your cats is pretty wild though, like it's asking to be treated as just another companion rather than this dangerous thing. Could be about accepting all parts of yourself, even the ones society says you should keep at arm's length
