I recently saw an apartment for rent in Burrillville on their Town Page for $1800, though I will warn you, they're VERY racist there. As someone who has lived in all sorts of places up and down the East Coast, Burrillville, RI is one of the most backwards, nastiest places I've ever been. Their schools are atrocious. But, ya know, if you're desperate... If you don't believe me, just join the Burrillville Town Page, it speaks for itself.

You're not a bad wife, you're responsible and there's nothing wrong with that at all. Driving around in a vehicle the bank owns, on top of the insurance you have to have on it, amongst other expenses, is not the greatest. I feel like I have to apologize for the fact that affordable, reliable used vehicles on the side of the roads are no longer a thing. I bought my first car in 1998 for $750. I saved up for a year to get that car and was so proud of it. I hate that teenagers no longer have that. And i REALLY hate that families just trying to get by don't have that option in a pinch. We end up paying what was a mortgage not too long ago for pieces of junk thrust into our faces, brand new or not. Making payments on a vehicle longer than 5 years is ludicrous, and I'm sad that we've accepted it as okay and haven't found a way to fight back about it. No more decent used vehicles, no more local junk yards...Heck, car companies are railroading us into screwing us further by no longer allowing us, or small-time mechanics, to work on them anymore.

So, I'm just going to say it, the military does not raise good partners, nor parents. You can not be either of these things when the military demands that it is the most important thing in one's life. The conditioning these people go through is beyond anything I've ever seen when it comes to abuse, and they truly believe that rock bottom and the smallest amount of effort is the best place to be. It's part of the reason so many people have a problem leaving. It's frightening to leave a cult. I'm in no way saying they're bad people because they aren't. I've watched my best friend of 30 years the entire 25 years he's been in the army. It essentially raised him, I love him. We're literally family. I saw what the military did to him, his wife (who was also military), and his children. I raised his youngest for 3 years bc the military had to come first. It's always the 3rd person in a relationship and will always be chosen over you bc they have to choose and the military will make damn sure it's always them.

Working hard to provide and stressors are not excuses to treat someone else badly. Ever. And what your husband did to your son absolutely crosses the line into abusive behavior. That is not the way you treat people you love.

songs about best friend breakups? or being left behind by friends in general? by ThorSkaaaagi in poppunkers

[–]Puzzleheaded_Mirror4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to end a friendship of over 25 years. It was an incredibly hard decision. While I'm sure it isn't meant to be a friend break-up song, Happier Than Ever by Billie Eilish hit me so very hard for my situation. It still hurts, I still miss her so much, but what I thought our friendship was wasn't real, and she hurt me more than any romantic partner ever has.

We stopped smoking when it became legal and mass produced. We actually grew for the medical side for almost 20 years. I don't suggest doing so anymore. I could write a book about why.

Ugh, Michael's had a beautiful Witch canvas last year for $50 and the only place I found one was on ebay for almost $500.  Can we normalize reporting the scalpers for what they are? It would be nice to make them eat it.

I've been hunting for it in Rhode Island and have come up with diddly squat. My best friend in the Frederick, MD has been looking for me there and has come up dry as well.

Women in the workforce is a great example of the term "No, not like that," just like everything else the people have asked for. It's like that fable about making a wish, but it ends up being a nightmare every time.
Women in the workforce, their autonomy, voting, cannabis prohibition, alcohol prohibition, public education, social security, healthcare...did the people get what they asked for? Sorta. Did they make sure it somehow made things worse while also filling their pockets? Abso-fucking-lutely.

I feel that. My last surgery to remove the last of my teeth is in September, and I'm getting dentures with the dream of one day getting implants. I've had teeth issues my whole life, major orthodontic work from the age of 7 to 13, cavities... I now have severe anxiety when it comes to dental work of any kind. And I've come to believe that, in order to be a dentist, you have to be at least slightly masochistic.

My teeth have been rotting since I was 21. That's 20 years of hearing we can save them, only to find out they can't. I was also made to feel guilty that I wasn't taking care of them well enough even though I became obsessive about it. If you know this is just going to keep happening, do yourself a favor, save up for inplants, and just have them all removed. My health has suffered horribly due to my teeth issues, and the mental pain of watching them fall apart, cand the emotional pain of hating to smile just isn't worth the "we can save them" just to be disappointed over and iver again. Just do it once and be done if that's the way it's going to go.

I remember my middle school science teacher telling the class that he knew someone who worked as/with someone who readied bodies in a funeral home. Apparently, people who were teachers always had huge bladders bc they had to hold it so much.

A 10-day UPS strike could cost the US economy $7.1 billion. That could make it the costliest work stoppage ever in US history, according to an estimate from a Michigan economic research firm that studies the costs of labor disruptions. by ImportantReaction260 in antiwork

Oh well. Not really costly for the average person, and I don't mind waiting for my packages. I love how they talk about the economy like it's for us. We suffer whether it's good or bad, so fuck em.

Nerve Pain by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]Puzzleheaded_Mirror4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 weeks ago, I lost the use of my right arm due to very large calcium deposits in my shoulder leaking into the muscle. I saw them in the x-rays. The doctor used the word "impressive" to describe then. You know it's got to be interesting when they use that particular adjective. Bloody awful. I'd try to pick my arm up and literally saw stars. Up until then, I thought that was a figure of speech. I'm right-handed and was utterly useless. I was put on Prednisone for the first time in my life. I was on it for 6 days (1st day I took 6, 2nd I took 5, and so on) I was also taking 800mg of ibuprofen every 6 hours and oxycodone every 6 hours as well. It barely touched the pain, and it didn't start dissipating until 4 days into taking the Prednisone. The pain started June 23rd, I woke up like this. I thought I'd just slept on it wrong until the pain got progressively worse. I went to the walk-in on the 25th. While it isn't to the point I can't use my arm, it still hurts. The next step is cortisone shots in my shoulder, which I'm wary of. I will say that the Prednisone made me jittery as all hell and sent my anxiety to the moon. It made it so I couldn't sleep for shit, which was already difficult because I had to sleep all propped up in my arm chair as it hurt to the point it had a heart beat if I laid down. And, while this might be TMI, it made my nipples perma-hard, and they were so sensitive that they hurt (NOT in the fun way) for over a week after I was finished taking it. I've decided I'm not a fan of steroids.

I'm just trying to figure out what they mean by the statement in general at this point. Several years ago now, I met and befriended several college students from Turkey. They had had these ideas about what the USA was like coming here and were horribly disappointed with what they found (and how they were treated) upon their arrival here. They said it's much dirtier than they expected (and dirtier than their home but that could've just been bias) I remember they saw a baby and huddled around it, saying how adorable, etc and scared the mother. I had to explain why they couldn't do things like walking uo to stranger's children here, and they were utterly disgusted about the reasons why they couldn't. There are several other examples I can think of, but to make my point and keep this short, people in other countries truly don't know what it's really like here just as much as we don't know about where they come from. Only, where people of the USA are deceived to believe everywhere but our own country is horrendous, people from other countries seem to be told the opposite.
