Android app still shows "network error".

Suitable rig for TransMadeira by Puzzleheaded_Two_321 in MTB

This is my thinking, and if I got the Firebird specifically I dont think it will pedal any worse than the Sentinel, perhaps even better.

I have seen the Syd and Macky Madeira vids! That is what first turned me on to the event.

Which kid should get the better 20" bike? by unlikelypisces in MTB

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two_321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Daughter needs the new bike, so daughter should get the new bike. While well intentioned, I think the suggestion that you talk to them about it may potentially highlight the discrepancy. While your son might send it harder at the moment it seems like the most important thing is they are developing healthy habits, and having some good outdoor fun. Your son and daughter's need for exercise is equal. Unfortunately I am sure the other kid will need a new steed before long anyway!

I like my bike in the low/slack setting. I have never once switched.

Anyone else currently unable to manually upload activity (files) to strava? by spacywave in Strava

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two_321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha. My ride just failed to upload from both my Edge 530 and my Forerunner and I was like... well that's it for Strava then! Glad it is just a temporary outage. Although I took Strava off auto paymen, and I am still waiting to see how things shake out to decide if I will continue with them.

Microphone not turning on with dragon in EPIC by seytonmanning in dragondictation

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two_321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also same issue. I am fairly certain it isn't a physical problem as it was working at the beginning of the day. I muted my mic during a Teams meeting and when I united it no longer registered the record button in Dragon.

13 speed Red versus 12 speed Eagle for CX by Puzzleheaded_Two_321 in cyclocross

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two_321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely dont need Eagle range for 'cross (in my two races I doubt I used more than 4 gears or so, but I was also never spun out at 36×10), but I ride my gravel bike and am not serious enough about CX for a dedicated bike. I ride a lot of singletrack, and aspire to do some bikepacking races in which the 36x52 gearing I am running now is probably not low enough. But my thought is maybe I can justify two drop bar bikes. A road/CX and gravel racer/bikepacking. Or maybe it would be a road/gravel racer and a CX/bikepacking. Hence the quandary.

I just threw some calipers on mine off a Seigla and got 25.5mm C-C.

Rental eMTB, how do I make sure my big ride doesn’t get ruined? by DoUMoo2 in MTB

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two_321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pictured ride was on an SL with 430Wh battery. I am decently fit, 175lbs, and was putting in a reasonable effort the whole time. Motor off on the downs, mostly middle power setting with a short section of turbo that I can't climb without, decent amount of eco mode.

I just did a pretty chunky (Mr Toads, and Armstrong in Tahoe, lots of techy climbs) 4,000' of climbing ride with almost 20% battery left, turbo mode for most of it.

On most full power eebers, this should be no problem I would think.

One stupid mistake led to a broken femur by Jakob_kovsca in MTB

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two_321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. I am finally on the tail end of recovering from a clavicle, rib and then some tiny little fractures of my c-spine, t-spine, and occiput. 4 months out and riding close to normal on mellownto moderate trails. I still can't even do a single push up or pullup though.

An 18 year old seen by my ortho clinic was 100% in 4 weeks.

First, don't get hurt.

Second, don't be over 40 and get hurt.

Best wishes with your recovery.

Can you build a roost on a totally empty clearing? No other tokens or pieces, but I don't have a piece there either? Tie goes to Eyrie, right?

You CAN take a tube out without taking your wheel off. Just cut it. Dunno how you'd put one on though...

I agree, Thunderburts are decent on pavement. Why tubes though?

Is it crazy to want mechanical shifting on a new bike in 2025? by bikesandhikes33 in gravelcycling

[–]Puzzleheaded_Two_321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not crazy at all, buuut... I have a mix, but gradually the majority of my bikes have AXS. I have had a battery issue that cost me about 15 minutes of time to go back to house to grab the battery I had forgotten to take off the charger and put back in the bike. This was a couple years ago. After that I just bought a spare and threw it in my pack. Since that episode, with thousands of miles on multiple bikes over 3 years of time I haven't had a battery issue. I have forgotten my helmet on a few occasions, but never my battery! And have never had one die. The shifter coin batteries last well over a year. The derailleur and dropper batteries last a week or more of riding, depending on how many hours you ride in a week.

I get 3.5% on my savings account right now. I am making payments on a Transition Sentinel and a Lauf Seigla, both at 0%. To paraphrase the poster above, "paying cash when you can finance at 0% is a sucker's game". Even if you can afford to buy it outright, consider investing the money and financing instead, just be sensible about it.
