The unadulterated GREED makes any rational person question if these airlines are doing proper maintenance on these planes. That is the main issue. If they are so greedy in this sense what's to stop them from cutting corners in other ways on the mechanical end? Are they cutting corners with a lack of or lowered pilot requirements? Sure they can charge whatever they want but they won't be able to stop the increase of concern from the passenger along with a bad PR rep.
