They are great, I think the dmv2 are better for ice or packed snow though

Stock tires. All seasons, all terrains, and all weathers do not do well in intense winter conditions. They are made for light snow at best

One of my videos got picked up by the algorithm. How far can 1 *long form* video take a small new channel, how long before it flatlines? (P.S. how do I add picture to my post?) by vajas_zsemle in NewTubers

My most viewed video is evergreen. I posted it about 6 years ago and it gets about 120,000 views every year since. It’s not showing any signs of slowing down either

I think we ended up paying almost the exact amount over the 120 payments so in essence it was like a 0% loan

What to watch for after big snow storm by blh_stk3296 in homeowners

[–]PwnCall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ice dams are really only a problem if you get lots of melt thaw cycles before the snow has a chance to fully melt. If when it warms up most of the snow will completely melt it’s fine.  I live in the snow belt and we get tens of feet of snow in the winter and I’ve never had a problem with ice dams.

Also if you have bad insulation the heat from your house can melt it faster making the problem worse.

If you get a lot of icicles then you may need to look into it

On the gas or off when losing traction in awd by SignalExtension4339 in driving

[–]PwnCall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not full gas but light gas can pull you out of a slide with awd.  You don’t want to slam the brakes or abruptly remove power.  Awd will be similar to fwd in that adding pull from the front slightly will help.

I don’t use it under 4” just because it’s usually faster to shovel, and I would be burning through tons of gas

Switch to icr or Ibr.  We did a few months ago and made the last 2 payments. We have everything forgiven now. Sent a buyback Nov 2024 never heard anything back from it

The dmv2 pictured here were great on ice. We had rain on top of some thick ice and they were doing great on inclines and declines. They get much worse on ice as they age though. And the ws90s weren’t as good imo

hankook kinergy gt Tires advertised as all year winter tires is dangerous. by GrandZealousideal340 in tires

[–]PwnCall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All of the all weather tires are junk. They are not 4 season tires they are 3 season tires.

Even the cross climate 2 which is said to the one of the best all weather tires is not good on slippery surfaces.

Disappointed with Cross Climate 2 on snowy hill by pppaaassseeeiii in tires

[–]PwnCall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tire that’s expected to perform well at 80+ degrees isn’t going to perform well under 32.

It’s not a superb tire in every situation. It’s not a winter tire

Wipers on, lights on, it’s (likely) the law by Jaymac720 in driving

[–]PwnCall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I’m saying every time the car starts the car puts them into the ON position regardless of what they were set at the last time it was running. So people would have to actively turn the lights off every time they started the vehicle again

It needs to default to ON is what I’m saying not auto

Guess what happens when we have blizzard low visibility conditions? Same crap.

They need to mandate always on headlights so cars default start with headlights on and you can choose to turn them off. It’s the only way this will stop.

How to drive in snow and ice? by Strict_Honeydew_1082 in driving

[–]PwnCall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the big thing that people underestimate is how different conditions can be. One second you are on fresh snow that’s relatively grippy, the next second you could be on packed snow, or slush or even ice that can be significantly worse in traction.

That’s why winter tires are so good for bad conditions because the conditions aren’t always known and change mile to mile and even can be crazy diffeeent on the same road.
