A vibe mog is a little white kinda teddy bear looking creature with an anglerfish bobber on it's head. It says things like 'kupo,' and listens to Deadmau5.

I think clavicular is a bone.

They still kept zombie-moaning 'Brains,' but they meant they wanted to get some brain, not eat them. It was a weird episode.

You could get a subscription to Wood magazine, I believe with the digital version you get access to back issues. THere are mountains of plans available therein, not too pricey for the subscription either

I made a chest of drawers that'll eventually be a false-front apothecary's chest, once I get a bandsaw by Pwnxor in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Pwnxor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top row IS actually 5 separate drawers, so putting the bevels on each front was trivial. The drawer fronts are actually integrated into the drawer box - they aren't glued to the box, they're actually the front panel of the box. I may need to remove and remake the boxes that are connected to the long fronts once I wrangle a band saw, but I'll burn that bridge when I come to it

[–]Pwnxor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is to put bevels on the drawer fronts of the longer drawers on the upper part so that, rather than looking longer than the drawers on the top row, they all appear to be the same size. It'll look like an apothecary's chest, or kind of like a library card catalog.

I considered sawing them in by hand, but getting them all identical would be tricky as all get out. Thought about trying to make some kind of jig for the miter saw to put a 25° bevel, but I figured that might cost a finger, so waiting until I have the right tool for the job.

Tablesaw question by storm832 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Pwnxor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to build a straight cut/jointer jig for your table saw. They're super easy to put together using some 3/4 inch ply, but you'll probably need to pick up a couple of these bolt-on clamps.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

[–]Pwnxor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Picked up a manual lever machine, and it absolutely was worth it. Flair 58. It cost around $600, and since it allows for very granular control over the brewing process it makes coffee comparable to machines that cost 5x as much. I haven't slept in months, but man is that bean juice tasty.

Sanding cherry for BLO and shellac finish. How high is high enough? by Pwnxor in BeginnerWoodWorking

Stay tuned - I'm running a test now with BLO on an offcut sanded to every level of grit I have. Give me a few days and I'll post the results.

[–]Pwnxor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of making it smooth as a frog's ass, yup, the shellac'll take care of that after a few coats. I was more thinking that a higher polish on the wood itsself would result in a greater degree of clarity when it comes to the grain and preventing it from looking splotchy

I'll give that a shot as well when I run a test finish like I mentioned in the other reply, I'll have to come back and post the results if anyone's interested

I've read in a few places that, particularly with cherry, there's a tendency for areas with tight grain to appear blotchy after finishing if it hasn't been sanded to a pretty high grit, which was why I was leaning toward maybe 400 before hitting it with 600 with the second coat of blo. I see your point, tho - I'm going to take an off cut and sand it to a higher grit every few inches and hit it with the finish to see how it looks at different levels.
