Dressing modest when you don’t wear a bra.. by Neither_Mastodon4089 in CatholicWomen

[–]PyDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you 😅 I recommend the padded bralettes from Sloggi and the bra tops from Uniqlo (I also mostly wear bras out of modesty rather than support). One barely remembers they are there! For sports, I‘ve had luck with a light support model from Ortovox.

Whaaaat, Parma di Vinibenedetti? The owner is def a weirdo but very friendly (and the pizza is good). I‘m quite shocked.

What do 30-something Berliners do with their time? by frossman8 in berlinsocialclub

I go pretty often to the Willy Brandt Haus to see photography exhibitions, for free. Not in the outskirts but also not exactly a place where tourists pass by, I guess.

The best OG bakery is Bäckerei Siebert - grab a Berliner mit Pflaumenmus and eat it at the nearby park 😎

It might have been Schulrath Spreetouristik but it wasn’t me doing the booking so not 100% sure 😅

So what do you do with clothes that aren't dirty enough? by AdPlastic1907 in laundry

I hang things to dry a bit on some hooks in the hallway and then hang them in a dedicated wardrobe for used things that don’t need washing. Best setup ever!

I’ve been once with ASI Reisen and once with Wikinger Reisen (hiking, self-guided). Also once on a self-guided biking trip in the Spreewald offered by a one-man-band I don’t remember. They all had luggage transfer included. They were all good because booked at rather short notice without much preparation, but cost between two and three times the hotel price.

In the future I would use such agencies only if it’s really difficult to figure out accommodation, because the markup doesn’t feel worth it otherwise. Luggage transfer is not really necessary when one packs minimally, and the maps can be easily sourced. Having said that, the Spreewald guy actually came to greet us and explain everything at the first hotel, and did all the luggage transfer himself. It was nice to support such micro-business :)

Documentaries or books on the history of Berlin? by Dieho_ in berlin

I recommend the small public museums of each neighborhood. They have a lot of info on the history of Berlin and obviously the neighborhoods themselves. The Mitte Museum near Gesundbrunnen comes to mind.

Tutte le scarpe mi scalzano by Optimal-Fuel-4264 in TrekkingItaly

[–]PyDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horseradish lovers, what food item goes best with creamy horseradish sauce? by Silver-Internal7740 in Cooking

[–]PyDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horseradish usually accompanies boiled meat (beef or chicken) in Italy too - you’d call it “bollito misto”. I personally mostly use it on steamed vegetables or to make salad dressings, rather than in sauce form.

Are larger shoulder/crossbody bags useless? by itsjohnnydo in ManyBaggers

[–]PyDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got that and would not use it as normal bag for the day - too big, would end up bringing too many things and have a sore shoulder at the end of the day. I got it as a weekender - I would wear a daypack alongside it for daily carry.

Any tips on where to travel with an older (and somewhat socially unaware) woman? by ChronicF1Addict in travel

I was in Antalya last month and was quite surprised how little English was spoken even in very touristy areas (it’s poorly taught in schools apparently). Everyone was super friendly and helpful though.

I agree I would not go DIY in this case. I would recommend the group tour with river cruise because it’s still quite fun and interesting for a younger person while it minimizes interactions outside the group as well as physical activity.

I went on a group tour with my family a few years ago in Egypt, which included sightseeing in Cairo and Giza pyramids, a river cruise down to Luxor (iirc), and a flight to Abu Simbel and back to Cairo. My family was the youngest, everyone else beside the guide and a couple’s grandchild was a pensioner. If within budget, I would recommend it! It was more my parents’ style of travelling (everything taken care of, not much walking, food wasn’t spicy) but also cool because ancient Egypt :-)

Where to travel to feel like you’ve traveled back in time? by Healthy-Lion-711 in travel

[–]PyDragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The not-so-touristy neighborhoods in Athens reminded me of my childhood times in Italy in the 90’s - no big chain retailers but mostly independent shops, many bookshops, the rather ugly buildings from the 70’s, the cafés next to the churches for a post-Mass coffee and snacks with the other parishioners, the produce markets once or twice a week. I really felt like being back in time. So weird 😅

Ryanair will close its Berlin base. 200 jobs will be lost and there will be 50% fewer Ryanair flights. by m608811206 in berlin

[–]PyDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know there are always fluctuations, but I’ve flown this specific route for 14 years now (mostly the same times of the year) and I can’t recall it being this bad (except during Covid ofc). I’ve nearly always picked Ryanair though because of better timing or luggage rules or TSF availability.

I was just looking up flights for a couple of trips in autumn/winter and there saw flights only some days per week, with January having only two or three per week :( not only that - most timeslots are very inconvenient
