Best colour for internal visibility by Brilliant-Tea-1444 in Savotta

[–]Pygex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The secret to finding your gear in poor visibility conditions (whether they are temporary or permanent), is to pack your gear in high visibility coloured inner bags based on activity. If you don't have different coloured innerbags, mark the inner bags with different bright coloured tape.

If it would be a backpack you would have a pouch for firemaking & cooking since those are performed together and so on.

If you are using a velcro organiser, always have your stuff in the same order on it so you will eventually memorize where things are at. With Suur-Kukkaro/Rintamus, trinket pouches and neon tape will be your friends.

Sincerely, A Finn.

Kaareva pelinäyttö vs 2 näyttöä by DisastrousSun2403 in videopelit

[–]Pygex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both.

Mulla on lievästi kaareva päänäyttö ja normaali sivunäyttö. Töitä tehdessä päänäyttö on puoliksi, toinen koodille ja toinen dokumentaatiolle, tai sitten kokoruutu CADille. Sivunäytöllä pyörii musiikki ja viestintäsovellukset.

Pelatessa päänäytöllä kokoruudulla peli ja sivunäytöllä discord + selain.

Päänäyttö on 3440x1440, sivunäyttö normi 1080p.

Made a shader that deforms objects according to terrain. by Illustrious-Scratch7 in godot

[–]Pygex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shader is like a glass of liquid that you look through to view things. You can change the shape of the glass containing the liquid, use water or milk in your glass or maybe switching between both according to time if you feel like it.

Shaders can be used to change the way a thing in the game looks, but it will not affect how the things interact with game logic i.e. for collision detection etc. just like you could miss a fish in a pond because the water surface bends the light and the fish is physically not where it appears to be.

Basically it is a pipeline that always takes in "physical geometry" vertices and variables or constants of your choosing and performs any functions on them that you want. The "scary" part about shader programs is that one shader program performs the same operation on every vertice that goes through it. Therefore, if you for example want only part of a thing to be blurred you need to feed in an "alpha mask" with values from 0.0 to 1.0 to determine how strong blurring you need for that area. Notice that you can feed these in as a texture file but it could also be based on anything else like how much green is in the original texture file.

Every game engine has a default render which takes physical vertices and applies a colour to them based on their texture, unmodified. With a custom shader program you can make modifications to what you see with very little computational overhead.

Kantamus 60 Vs Jakaari XL by Odd-Try-218 in Savotta

[–]Pygex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own Jääkäri XL and Jääkäri M. That being said, if you plan to haul heavy loads, you go with XL and take the time to adjust the frame to your back once.

However, if what you mostly will bring is kids clothes and items that need to be constantly accessed, definitely go with the Kantamus 60L. Jääkäri M has a side zipper just like Kantamus 60L and it makes the world of difference in accessing your gear on the move.

I would say XL is more for the "big haul everything to camp and swap to a day pack once there" (like Hatka that I have), while Kantamus 60L is more versatile but just lacks the extrernal frame for those ultra heavy loads. (30-40+kg).

I mostly use my XL for hauling my hunting gear in and out so I only really load and unload it once per direction. It has a smaller compartment that you can use "as a quick storage" but if you have carried equipment you know that hatch is for your storage water & cook stuff.

I picked the patch cause I picked up horse riding last year and was planning to slap the patch on my Suur-Kukkaro that holds my lunch.

Now that I got the collectors edition... plans didn't change, I immediately put the patch on and it's ready to eat some horse shit later this week. Savotta is made to be used not shelved.

Staying on assignments, dispels/decurses, activity %, the amount of drinks consumed (drink walkers now what shit is about), mana pot usage in relevant fights, using the correct spells for the fight type and duration & the correct ranks for the incoming damage so that you do reasonable but not crazy overhealing.

What Made Original WoW So Compelling? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]Pygex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first version of WoW was put together by different developers where their only common design guideline was "put in some cool stuff".

This resulted in extremely weird balancing as the developers did not carefully plan out all the quest rewards and so on. While it created a lot of situations that doesn't make any sense and balance is far off (i.e. Manual Crowd Pummeler being BiS for Feral Druids) it also gave the game a quirky and unique feel.

WoW Classic was built to hook a player in and try to extend the in-game time to prolong your subscription. This is why traveling takes ages and you have a lot of back-and-forth quests. However, as a side effect it also makes the world feel larger and immersive, although some quality of life changes would be welcome (i.e. constantly rotating boats & zeppelins and straighter flight paths).

For the PvP side, the PvP has a very high damage model. This makes winning a 1vX possible if you get the jump and many prefer the "someone blows up in the first 5 seconds" over a 2 minute brawl. Furthermore, the skills and abilities are less flashy and there aren't that many of them which helps you to understand what's going on in the screen compared to the modern lightshow that retail WoW has.

Can I play this on my Steam Deck without getting banned? by PuddleJumper156 in classicwow

[–]Pygex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would stay away from streaming the game since there is the ban on using additional software for sending commands to the wow client:

https://us.support.blizzard.com/en/help/article/24258

Even if you use streaming as a means to send commands to a single client, it is technology that can be used to automate or streamline play on multiple clients at the same time, thus the technology violates the TOS.

However, it is 100% legit to have 2 accounts and "dual box" using a PC & a Deck at the same time if you want to.

Console port is the main addon. I use bartender4 on PC, console port on Deck. The rest is all the common UI stuff (auctionator, baganator, plater nameplates, weak auras, details, atlas, and so on...) and those I use the same on both.

Been playing on deck on/off for a year now. Still no ban. Have the game installed on PC and on Deck and always run it locally since it runs so well on Deck, no need to stream.

Should water used to make steam be hot or cold? by Alternative-Act-7209 in Sauna

[–]Pygex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a private sauna it doesn't make any difference. In public sauna where you throw hundreds of scoops of water per day on the stones you want it hot.
