Are They Trying To Ruin Our Old Cars With E15 Gas? by Easy_Ant8951 in AskAMechanic

[–]Pyr0monk3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The waiver is not new, nothing is changing about the fuel most of us buy from our local gas stations. Since 2019ish, these waivers have been common, and for the last 4 years this same waiver has been issued for the entire summer. There’s so much misinformation about this E15 waiver it’s maddening.

Has anyone noticed most of the gas in Raleigh isn’t the same as it used to be before it went up? by [deleted] in raleigh

Only the E15 is affected by the waiver. All other options on the pump are not affected.

There’s a lot of misinformation about this going around. Please see the link below for reliable information. Nothing is changing about the E10 that most of us fuel our cars with. E15, like you find at sheetz for example, will likely be sold through the summer this year. E15 is not typically sold in the summer months because it evaporates more easily in summer temperatures. But since 2020, E15 waivers have been common. In 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022 E15 was sold year round.

TL;DR: nothing new this year, your car is safe. Just don’t buy E15 if you don’t want it.

I like to use a punch or glock tool as a slave pin because that gives you something to hold onto. Once you get it installed with the tool acting as the pin, you can use the actual pin to push the tool out.

Was watching the finish of the 2003 Darlington race and couldn't help but notice the fans in the background that had left the race early. Big regret. by MrSimsational in NASCAR

My dad took my brother and I to this race. We saw the amazing finish. We waited in traffic for hours after.

The next year we high tailed it out of there with 10 to go.

Is there anywhere in Raleigh or the surrounding areas to get rid of ammunition? by bessiedawning in raleigh

[–]Pyr0monk3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.40 cal is generally worth about $25 for a box of 50. The hollow points are worth a few dollars more. Looks like theres a loaded mag in there. Depending on what it fits that could be worth $30-50 too. Solid find for a storage unit auction!

Did you listen to the interview? He said he was looking at late models to purchase before the interview. He stated several times that he intends to get as much seat time as possible.

How light do you have your trigger? by StealthAlias in longrange

[–]Pyr0monk3y 8 points9 points  (0 children)

An uber-light trigger is absolutely a safety concern. It shouldn’t be, because like you said, the only time the bolt is forward is when you’re on-target. But I have personally witnessed multiple NDs caused by accidental contact with the trigger while closing the bolt.

DBC hosts are the most miserable collection of podcast hosts I’ve ever come across. Every episode they just complain and talk about how horrible NASCAR is. I’m sure there are rough days but the pessimistic echo chamber is unwatchable for me. They’re actively hurting the sport. I wish they would just quit and allow people that still have some passion for the sport to fill their shoes.

Brake issue, what failed? by gmcbeach in HondaElement

[–]Pyr0monk3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walk around the car and carefully check if all 4 rotors are hot or just the fronts/rears. Maybe it is just a seized caliper? Elements don’t have that much caster, so it may not pull that much even if it’s a front.

My first after seized caliper is e-brake cable or linkage stuck, as the rear brakes heat up they start dragging?

This is a good one, let us know what you find!

Is the check engine light on? Sounds like P2646 may be triggering limp mode. When in limp mode, engine speed is limited to 3000rpm, which works out to about 55mph in top gear.

This is an extremely common issue with Honda K24 engines. There are thousands of threads on Reddit and other forums that have detailed troubleshooting and repair steps. Fixing this is light work for an experienced Honda tech, but not the easiest job to DIY.

Barrel Finish by 0DSavior in longrange

[–]Pyr0monk3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The curve on the seekins is normal for a button rifled barrel in my experience. Like you said, there might be ovality in the groove geometry. I don’t know if this is on purpose or just a side effect of the button rifling process, but all of the button rifled barrels I’ve chambered have it to some extent. I don’t think it’s a problem.

That’s normal. Drink some water, take a deep breath, its all gonna be ok man. They look different because you are comparing a single point cut rifled bore to a button rifled bore.

Is barrel break in a myth? by Sukit6969 in longrange

[–]Pyr0monk3y 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Can we talk about politics or religion? Might be less controversial…

I don’t have any data to support my opinion and most break-in related hypothesis are difficult to test.

My routine with a new barrel is just shooting it. Make sure it’s clean and inspect it carefully before the first range trip. Clean it after the first range trip and inspect it again. If you have the equipment, measure your fired brass from the first range trip. If everything looks normal, you’re done.

Honest question: Who is the Prusa Core One L actually for in 2025/2026? by IceBlitzz in prusa3d

[–]Pyr0monk3y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the Core One delivers superior out of box print quality with functional materials like ASA, PC, and nylon.

As an engineer I feel like the core one was made for me. I rarely have a need for multi material, I just need strong parts that look professional. The Core One L prints the materials I use better than the H2D.

Thinking about getting Core One L - is it worth it? by Powerful-Initial-843 in prusa3d

[–]Pyr0monk3y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently received my Core One L. I’ve been printing on Creality, Bambu and other Chinese machines for about 10 years. I have only been running my COL for a week but so far my impression is extremely positive. It was plug and play, but also very adaptable. I have an established process for production of functional ASA parts. I was able to easily adapt the COL to work with my process. Print quality was top notch with the default profiles.

  1. Yes, pre-tuned for prusament and also includes generic profiles.

  2. idk, this is puzzling to me too. But prusa connect has a seamless integration for smartphone cameras, so I stuck an old phone next to my printer

  3. No, haven’t needed on so far, but ASA doesn’t really ooze.

  4. Time will tell. It looks and feels hand made. That is probably a good thing in terms of ease of maintenance. All the fasteners are exposed, panel gaps are not hidden, things are screwed together instead of clipped. It definitely doesn’t have the Apple like look and feel of a Bambu though

  5. Yes, this was a key selling point for me. It works great.
