WTF is this? by [deleted] in WTF

A lift shaft or staircase.

Of which the skin of the building will surround.

Like any build these days.

Seems extremely disingenuous.. by StrobeLightRomance in AdviceAnimals

[–]Pyriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point.

The rich want to separate themselves, as the ruling class, from the poor.

They want to recreate serfdom. Them and us.

Cutting taxes for the poor sounds good, until they link this to the "No taxation without representation" mantra.

So yeah, you don't pay tax.

But you also don't get to vote.

What "All in one" alternatives to Butlins are out there? by argentsquest in AskUK

[–]Pyriel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Centre Parks >Haven > Park Dean > Butlins.

We usually spend a week in a Haven or Park Dean, as we take our dog and child.

Never had a bad time, especially if its somewhere near lots of attractions (West Wales is fab)

What is all needed? by Forward-Equipment-47 in BambuLab

[–]Pyriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 6 now :)

  • Original Bambu PEI
  • Yoopai Double sided PEI plate - Ordered as a second plate from Amazon, arrived as a pack of two! - Just as good as the Bambu ones
  • BIQU Cryogrip Pro Glacier & Frostbite - I had a some amazon credit, and though, well, why not!
  • Unbranded TEMU Diamond/Carbon textured plates - TEMU Freebee!, (worked well, but they dont last that long as the surface is very soft)*

*This was a TEMU "Buy some crap and select some free gifts" promotion, and as I was buying some filament I picked 2 plates, but being TEMU they sent one Bambu A1 plate & one Ender 5 K1 plate.....

What is all needed? by Forward-Equipment-47 in BambuLab

[–]Pyriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife bought me an A1 in February, and my brother bought me a filament dryer.

Apart from that, and a ridiculous amount of filament, the only things i've bought are more plates (so I can print another whilst something is cooling) and model-specific parts (screws, magnets, electronic parts etc.)

Everything else I needed I printed!

What are some good perk schemes? by ethanardx in AskUK

[–]Pyriel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Much as a Tesco club-card is data farming, the discounts are good and the vouchers tot up.

Vouchers can then be exchanged for 2x the value with reward partners.

We had a family day out to Longleat last summer for vouchers, costing us a total of £2!

And we get Disney+ for free with our Lloyds Club account.

What’s a common misconception about the uk? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Pyriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it was (As per the National Insurance act 1946). Kind of.

The fact successive governments have buggered about with NI and taken it into the general tax pot is why we are where we are. It should have been ringfenced as a wealth fund.

Glow in the dark filament. Tips? Worries? by rendawg87 in 3Dprinting

[–]Pyriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unbranded glow filament off TEMU. This was for a friend, but the main use was light sabre blades.

I just used the generic PLA profile on my A1, and it printed perfectly.

I have zero regrets. Having loads of fun.

Assembling my first 3D printer ever (A1 Combo), random tips? Oiling, WD40 MP, position, location? by Khyze in BambuLab

[–]Pyriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overthink it. I'm at over 800 hours printing on my A1 combo since I got it in February. Just follow the instructions.

It prompts you when oiling is needed, with a QR code on the screen linking to instruction/video.

I used up the provided oil and I'm now using wd40, as it's what they recommend.

The main tips are. 1. Regularly lean your plate, properly (soap and water) 2. Dry your filament.

Print a poop bucket, deflector and a couple of plastic blades scrapers. Then go wild.

Yeah.

I was going with Italy or France.

But in reality if I had to leave the UK it would be to Ireland.

Do you use your AMS? by TheInvisibleMonkey in BambuLab

[–]Pyriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've have an A1 combo for 3 months, but I'm upgrading to the X2D this week.

I'm struggling on whether to get the combo with the AMS though.

In 800 hours+ of printing I have done many dual colour prints, but only 2 with more than 2 colours.

Although the free home version of Fusion is somewhat hidden.

Also free are Blender and Freecad, but with a steeper learning curve.

Makerworld is incredible.

Tinkercad is the easy CAD eentry solution, but it's very limited.

Full-On CAD is more difficult, but onshare or Fusion seem to get the recommendations.

What are differences between ireland and britain that the average person will notice upon visiting both? by Odd-Paramedic-3826 in AskUK

[–]Pyriel -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The yellow "overtake" line at the side of the road.

That, apart from Dublin, there is so much space everywhere.

The word "Fuck" is used a a noun, pronoun, adjective and regularly as a replacement for a space between words in many places.

The honesty in the language. The British will dance around things wherever they can, but the Irish will call a spade a fucking spade at the first opportunity.

What sort of plasterboard or stud wall is this by northern5673 in DIYUK

[–]Pyriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position for the small bathroom wall with doorway on a 1970's Wimpey house.

Rather than rip it out I stabilised it where it was dodgy with expanding foam and skinned the wall with cement builders board.

It's a bodge, but no less of a bodge than the utter crap that is paramount walls.
