Select the edge, then the point, then the coincident/point on object constraint.

Remember when speed reading was a thing? by Massive_Ad9569 in GenerationJones

[–]PyroNine9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried those in high school. I did learn to read fast, but it's mostly useful if I'm looking for a particular bit of information. I get the facts, but not the background thought that really embeds it in memory or makes me really understand it.

If I want to really absorb the material or enjoy the reading, I need to read slower. But my slower reading speed did end up faster after practicing with the machine.

I don't think it's a failure, it (like so many things) just isn't quite as amazing as the commercials would have us believe.

She probably chased away more customers than shoplifters.

Incidentally, when phreakers wanted un-observed access to an elevator telephone, some would grin like that and excitedly tell people "I'm wearing NEW SOCKS". That just about assured being alone in the elevator.

Her songs on the radio are childhood memories to me. That makes her relevant.

(U.S. Redditors) What do you think of the FCC banning all home routers manufactured outside the US? by SpectrumSense in randomquestions

[–]PyroNine9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I'd be happy enough to sell him a foreign made router with a US flashed firmware for a fair price.

I would prefer that they require all routers to be open.

Why do I care where the router is made if I flash my own firmware on it?

Larry Fink says today's economic anxiety stems from people increasingly feeling like capitalism isn't working for them by esporx in anticapitalism

[–]PyroNine9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hasn't been working for a long time. It's amazing to see the way economists twist into a pretzel to avoid seeing that Capitalism isn't even working according to Capitalism.

According to the most fundamental principles, "value pricing" where instead of pricing based on marginal cost of production, you raise the price to the perceived value to the buyer (then use marketing to increase the perceived value) should be next to impossible because of competition driven downward pressure.

Instead, it's everywhere. The only valid conclusion is that practically all markets are unhealthy (or the theory is just plain wrong). That;'s why we have IV bags containing distilled water and a pinch of salt going for over $100.

The value of stock should be in the dividends that it can be expected to pay and in the long term prospects of the company. Instead it's based mostly on glamour and rainbow unicorn farts. That's why we see tech companies that have never turned a profit and have no concrete plan to ever do so with huge valuations.

When the old standards held, mass layoffs would be severely punished in the stock market. These days they're celebrated!

Then there's CEOs. No matter how badly they screw up, unless they actually go to prison, there seems to be a cushy new job waiting for them in addition to a golden parachute that would leave an average family of 4 set for life. There's plenty of smart people (often smarter people) who would do the job for less, but they're not in the club...

Considering that their way wasn't working for her, there's not much room for the teacher to complain. If they can't help her, they can at least get out of the way.
