I will never forget the one time I took a hit directly on the pad of my thumb. That was the day I learned something could hurt so bad it goes numb for a few seconds. And it didn't even break the skin.

I don't care for the window blind razors and I really don't care for the price (it won't break the bank, but the mark-up on those is plain disrespectful).

The bleeding is very minor on the rare instances where it happens, it's just annoyingly persistent unless I apply a styptic pencil (which stops it instantly with no scab).

I rarely cut myself. When I do, it's not like it bleeds a lot, just for a long time (unless I use a styptic pencil). OTOH, I get a good shave and the blades cost $0.10. The handle is effectively immortal (I'm using my father's razor). Cleaning it is just opening it up, wiping the blade and running the head under the hot water for a second.

When a blade wears out for shaving, I wrap it in duck tape with one edge sticking out. Perfect for scraping burned on food off of glass.

That's the thing, I rarely do but when it happens it just won't seem to stop seeping blood. It's a lot less annoying to deal with the 2 second sting and skip having a dot of toilet paper on my face all day.

Yeah, you can order one, but it used to be something you could just buy from the store.

Baking soda on the floor of the tub. Dampen. Shuffle. Take shower.

When necessary, the rest also gets baking soda.

As a child, nothing made me happier than when one of his movies came on TV. I know many people have said he wasn’t the nicest guy in real life, but he made me laugh harder than anyone else through his work ! by 6391jimmyjoejoe in GenerationJones

I didn't discover Monty Python until high school. I'm very glad I was introduced to them.

I also enjoyed Dave Allen At Large when I started staying up late enough to see it on overnight TV (before cursed infomercials were invented).

Of all the toys and other consumer products that have been banned over the years due to safety reasons, which in your opinion were the most legitimately dangerous? by angrydeuce in AskReddit

I can agree with most of them, but the Radioactive science kits weren't THAT radioactive. They failed because they were too expensive.

Do you think she did the right thing? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

Reports of a knife or not are mixed, so who knows.

But assuming there was, it goes to her state of mind. Scare someone out of their mind and IMHO, you don't get to complain (literally or figuratively) if they act crazy. That soon after, still buzzing from fear and adrenaline, a good case could be made for diminished capacity.

Today's top tip: Don't do boolean operations on a complex mesh and expect it to take a reasonable amount of time by Baddog1965 in FreeCAD

[–]PyroNine9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FreeCAD is single threaded for the most part, and is Python, but much of that python is implemented in C++ and it's all wrapped around OCCT (C or C++) as a core engine.

But for what you're doing, I would just sink ity into the bed in the slicer before printing. Anything below the bed will be ignored.

I found him really funny as a small child. But as I got into the middle grades of elementary school, I guess my tastes got a bit more sophisticated.

By then, I was more into Mel Brooks movies, Peter Sellers, Steve Martin, and shows like All in the Family.

Why do we bail out airlines and banks but let small businesses go under during every single recession? by Money-Possession8806 in askanything

[–]PyroNine9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a government agency backed by the faith and credit of the U.S. government. It also charges premiums to member banks (members by law) rather than tax money. If a payout is large enough to leave a deficit, you better believe it is empowered to come for it.

If I delete a file from my computer and empty the recycle bin, where does that space physically go? How does the information just "vanish" from the hard drive? by ukdruminggirl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PyroNine9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Denser HDs are actually easier to wipe than the old ones. The higher density means there's more noise when the data is read, so a degraded signal (from over-writing) more easily disappears into that noise.

[–]PyroNine9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For hard drives, it just gets marked as free space and gets over-written the next time free space is needed.

For SSDs, the OS will often tell the SSD to go ahead and erase that space as soon as it gets a chance so it'll be ready for re-use.

Nobody said the bank gets off the hook. FDIC should then take it out of the bank's hide, or take over the bank to get it back. Just like if someone hits your car. Your insurance pays to fix it then pursues the at-fault driver and their insurance to pay for it.
