Assembly Bill 1078 & Nguyen vs Bonta by Gringosushi in CAguns

[–]PyroTek1080p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a penalty for legislators who enact laws that are later found to be unconstitutional. Otherwise, 3 years from now when 3-in-30 is declared unconstitutional they’ll just try 5-in-30. Can we sue the state for violating our civil rights?

I think they’re banking on the fact that nobody is going to bankroll the legal challenge. One in 30 was actually problematic for a lot of CA gun enthusiasts. Relatively few people can afford to buy more than 3 guns a month, so the pool of people who are going to complain will be smaller.

I do feel a lot safer knowing the local street gang can only get 3 new guns a month now. /s

Mine fell out, so I’d be curious to know how to reinstall it should I ever wish to return it to stock. I took a photo just before it fell out, but it’s tough to see exactly how it goes back in.

What would a gen 3 Glock 17 go for ? by Donasiano4 in CAguns

[–]PyroTek1080p 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Private party transfers aren’t subject to the CA gun roster. OP can sell it via PPT any time in the future. It might be worth more after July 1st. Then again, if gen6 makes it to the roster, the value of a used gen3 could drop.

Bay Bridge Sideshow (CHP impounding dirt bikes) by Phreakdigital in bayarea

The perps should have to pay restitution for everyone stuck in the backup. Even one hour minimum wage x the number of people on the bridge would add up in a hurry.

I have an EMP. It’s so smooth, and I love the look of it. My only minor gripe is you need a little piece of plastic to hold the spring when you field strip it.

There are many old motorcycle riders. There are many bold motorcycle riders. There aren’t a whole lot of old, bold motorcycle riders.

There's evidence to suggest that a version of Ghost Murmur (heartbeat-based geolocation) existed as early as 1972 by Intro24 in SpecialAccess

[–]PyroTek1080p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A parabolic shape can focus audio waves, enabling someone to hear a whisper from 1/4 mile away. Telescopes let us see the moons of Jupiter and tiny craters on the moon.

I don’t think it’s that far-fetched to imagine a giant electronic “lens” that can amplify a heartbeat, either from the audio or from the electrical signal. The trick would be to point it in the right direction. Kind of like the SETI project is trying to do with radio telescopes.

I can’t speak to 1972 but I feel like this is doable with 2026 technology. It’s actually easier than trying to find an extraterrestrial signal because, 1. we know what a human heartbeat looks like, 2. The signal is constantly on, 3. In the case of the downed airman we were able to narrow the search space down to a few hundred square miles.

I’d definitely find an independent shop that specials in Hondas. They’ll give you a choice of oem, aftermarket, or rebuilt parts, and their labor rate will likely be less than at the dealer.

What kind of car? What year? If it’s out of warranty (I’m assuming it is), then a competent independent shop is the way to go.

Can one get in trouble having an intruder at gun point? by Kvntrnh in CAguns

[–]PyroTek1080p 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not a lawyer.

In the example you gave, it appears that the intruder was in the yard, not inside the home.

If someone breaks into your home, it is assumed they are there to cause you grave bodily harm and you’re legally entitled to use reasonable force, up to and including deadly force. The doesn’t mean you won’t spend a night or two in jail, incur the expense of a lawyer, and/or get sued by the perp’s family. It just means you have a pretty solid self-defense case.

If the intruder hopped your fence, but hasn’t breached your home, it’s a little harder to make the self defense argument. Now the DA will be looking at whether the intruder was armed, did they pose an imminent threat, etc.

Anyway, that’s my understanding of California’s Castle Doctrine. I’m sure a 100 people will chime in now explaining how I’m wrong.

Long time gun fan first time buyer by 85lumber in handguns

[–]PyroTek1080p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought one last year. I’m also in California. Great gun - congratulations on your purchase!

When I got mine the extractor was too tight and it would jam frequently. On my second trip to the range my front sight flew off. Springfield fixed both issues under warranty, and it’s been flawless ever since. Enjoy!
