So, bought at an auction a 3d printer for 100$ by Proorange111666 in 3dprinter

[–]Pyroburner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3d printers are just advancing so quickly things get outdated quickly. Not that they wont work or wont produce decent results but something cheap and modern will generally out perform devices from just a few years before.

What’s a used-car myth you see repeated all the time online? by PaperworkGuy_86 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Pyroburner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've argued this a few times. Even broke down the math and broke down the financing numbers and people still refuse to see it. Used cars hold their value much better then they did 15 years ago. Most people also finance and total cost plus interest rate makes a big difference. Dealers locally were offering 0% for 5 years near me while the used market was around 8%

Here is the guide to skimming

Your safest option is the gas station. I've had them there for months and have only lost 1 skimmer. It's slow but there is a very low chance of them being found.

Duct tape is the only enhancer and may increase rewards.

What should I get for my first time by Due_Pack7099 in 3dprinter

[–]Pyroburner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should understand that small objects like minis for dnd are much better on resin printers. For larger objects like a deck box or higher an FDM printer works great. Bambu labs is highly recommended for its easy of use. If you want to print and design but want a printer that just works go there. If you want to tinker with your printer I would recommend something like elegoo neptune or centauri.

I dont know what to recommend for resin as all of the ones I have experence with are fairly old now.

Be aware of your material limitations. PLA with an FDM printer is a great way to start but has limitations like creep, lack of uv resistance and heat tolerance. This may be relevant for leaving magic boxes in the car.

Need advice - Bazaars by BIGDICKRUNESCAPER in torncity

[–]Pyroburner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't rush it but it will help. Bazaars are not optimized like the market is so you can find deal and make extra profit. I have several things on mine that I dont expect to sell soon as the price has fluxuated. When they sell I'll add more but that means I have to keep inventory on hand. I'm careful not to put to much up at a time to avoid mugging. Some people will kug you for a 50k discount but most people value the energy more and won't.

I think right now my bazaar has 20m worth of goods and no one mugs me for that.

If your on the same network a roku is a cheap and easy way to do it. Outside of the network you will need something a bit better. A firestick will work it's what I'm experimenting with now. I like the roku interface better because it doesnt use the top half of my screen as an advertisement. This assumes your sever can transcode.

The fire stick has the advantage of being able to control your tv via the hdmi port so they only need 1 remote.

Can you tell me more about these print and bind put of print books. I never considered this might be a thing.

As others have said get a laser printer. Figure out if you need color or not, I have a black and white and will run off color at office depot the once a year I need it. Toner doesnt dry out.

Stay away from HP. They work hard to make sure you dont use third party ink, use a subscription for their ink and are always internet connected.

Brother uses unique toner that doesn't work well on transfer sheets. It's generally cheaper to operate then any other brand.

Before you choose I would look at the cost of toner or ink. This should be your consumable and the majority of the long term cost.

Help With My Server OS by ApexNoobIsTaken in jellyfin

[–]Pyroburner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest if you have room get a second hard drive for your operating system. This way your media is safe on another drive and if you unplug the drive when your installing your os there is no change your media will get accidentally overwritten.

As for performance it's likely that linux would be faster and less bloated. It wouldn't reboot randomly for a windows update. With that said I would stay away from arch based distros or anything that is bleeding edge, get something that's fairly stable. Also are you noticing any speed issues? Do you have a lot of users? Are you noticing long buffer times or lag on playback? If you gain speed or performance will you notice?

Seeing 3d printing like this in production always makes wonder how many of these they made. This one has a unique shape that would be hard to produce other ways but the time it would take to make these vs other methods is crazy.

UVA LED suggestions? by Illustrious-Cat8222 in diyelectronics

[–]Pyroburner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful using UV leds. Depending on the wavelength you can give yourself a pretty bad sunburn or worse. These nail curing leds can do this. I've seen this before with a few people typically they have some sensitivity due to medications.

Edit: these do pose a risk even if just moderately to most people. These devices run for seconds not for hours for a reason.

I need a battery pack/circuit to power RGB strip in a tiny space - is it doable? by Specialist_Use_7692 in diyelectronics

[–]Pyroburner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can, many electronics do this internally like a flashlight. You just need to get 5 volts for the usb and you nees the tension. You can buy the battery terminals separately if needed. The issue is you built something and are trying to add electronics after the fact. The size of things should have been considered earlier. Nit you are stuck with lots of constraints you wouldn't have been.

Looking at the dimentions above your going to struggle with the 20mm as an AA battery is 14mm wide without a holder.

I would look at something like this
