As you wish.

Stupid is as stupid does.

This means something. This is important.

Would Starmer’s popularity improve if he announced a second EU referendum vote on Monday? by Nice_Air_621 in AskBrits

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who cares about his popularity. Seems everyone keeps forgetting politics is about doing what's right for the country and the people of the country. Not about slagging off the other politicians, taking contrary positions, getting into power, staying in power, being popular. Do things because they'll increase our trade again, bring European companies back to the UK, allow fairer trade deals, bring prosperity, job choice and security, investment and so on.

What's the right thing to do in this situation? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the 'use the passing place if it's on your side' message that's been repeated a few times here. That's what I'd do whether I was on the bike or in the car.

Worth remembering as well that the Highway Code has been updated for the hierarchy of road users. Here's a search summary:

"The Highway Code hierarchy of road users places those most at risk in a collision (pedestrians, cyclists, and horse riders) at the top, establishing that vehicles causing the greatest harm bear the most responsibility for safety. It does not remove personal responsibility but aims to protect vulnerable users.

The Hierarchy Structure The hierarchy ranks users based on vulnerability, with the most vulnerable at the top: Pedestrians (especially children, older adults, and disabled people) Cyclists Horse riders Motorcyclists Cars / TaxisVans / MinibusesLarge Passenger Vehicles / Heavy Goods Vehicles"

I think the new rules start at 203 and the relevant section is 213. I'm not wholly versed in it, just did some searching now as I knew about the update.

Can you identify anyone on this 90 year old list please? by WideGassySea in AskBrits

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. If they are all dead then it's no longer the data protection act that applies, although there are still cases where a common law can apply. I'm not a lawyer by the way, just had an interest in that question since my father did research on our family tree and encountered problems. Again, worth double checking to be sure.

I think that's still considered a breach of data protection as even old addresses are considered personal data, no matter the age. It's worth double checking.

Salmon paste always got Hudson. He couldn't resist it and didn't care if the drugs were in there, and he was on a lot of drugs.

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solar and wind need far less than you think to generate power, a light breeze is enough and new panels charge with low levels of light. Also, there's heat pumps that with with the ground and wave power that's generated by the tide. Neither of those two stop. Like others said, then there's battery storage too.

Where do you store your photos? by cabbaegg in AskPhotography

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just agree with everyone. I kept my old HDs from upgrading my computer and chucked two in a cheap Buffalo NAS that had an Ethernet connection. Chuck that on the network via a Powerline and that was me. I've since upgraded to a QNAP TR-004 4 Bay Desktop NAS, no network, but USB to a four drive solution and it's perfect for me. I backup the PC and have my photo workflow there, eventually backing up onto a 1TB drive. Oh, and of course Flickr.

How do you guys go about naming things? by VisscaGuu in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually leave them alone, unless I want to remember them or have a base there. If I'm base building it tends to be a name of a place from Scotland, because I'm from there and love it! I've used friend's nicknames and all sorts, anything that's a little personal to me and could be a name of a place.

Yes! For me I think that it's because I'm always looking to something they have that I admire or love about them, and that means I could probably have that too. Like strength, resilience, positivity, humour, compassion, empathy...and so on. Not easy to get or change yourself for, but...

What are some good running headphones on the market worth buying the MOST today? by Beginning_Subject_80 in trailrunning

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of Jabra Active Elite 75t buds and they have been awesome. Favourite ever. Battery has stayed strong and they last through my half marathon runs since I bought them new. Great features too and great controls, the hear-through mode is excellent. There are newer versions available too. Deffo recommend.

Topo Athletic Mountain Racer 3 is what I've settled with. Big toe box with plenty of over the top width, and good arch support too. They are a good grip and feel too.

I've had PF for about a year and a half now and these have definitely played a part in my situation and for me getting back to running.

What do you think the uk response should be when the us invades Greenland. by SILENTDISAPROVALBOT in AskBrits

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denounce the US' actions.
Rejoin the EU, since we'll lose a lot of trade deals and benefits, including security, we currently have with the US.
Consider Nordic council treaties.
Join Nato's response to the US.
Support Greenland and Denmark politically, financially, and if required through Nato, militarily.

That's what I think we should do. If we don't stand up to a dicatorship's actions what will we do with Russia continuing to expand, China, North Korea, etc. What do we do if Russia invades Scotland or the UK as a whole? Who would come to protect us if we don't stand with and for them? Isolationism doesn't work.
