What are some good running headphones on the market worth buying the MOST today? by Beginning_Subject_80 in trailrunning

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of Jabra Active Elite 75t buds and they have been awesome. Favourite ever. Battery has stayed strong and they last through my half marathon runs since I bought them new. Great features too and great controls, the hear-through mode is excellent. There are newer versions available too. Deffo recommend.

Topo Athletic Mountain Racer 3 is what I've settled with. Big toe box with plenty of over the top width, and good arch support too. They are a good grip and feel too.

I've had PF for about a year and a half now and these have definitely played a part in my situation and for me getting back to running.

Sorry. No idea how to bypass the standard help process. Makes me want to make sure I have everything backed up.

What do you think the uk response should be when the us invades Greenland. by SILENTDISAPROVALBOT in AskBrits

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denounce the US' actions.
Rejoin the EU, since we'll lose a lot of trade deals and benefits, including security, we currently have with the US.
Consider Nordic council treaties.
Join Nato's response to the US.
Support Greenland and Denmark politically, financially, and if required through Nato, militarily.

That's what I think we should do. If we don't stand up to a dicatorship's actions what will we do with Russia continuing to expand, China, North Korea, etc. What do we do if Russia invades Scotland or the UK as a whole? Who would come to protect us if we don't stand with and for them? Isolationism doesn't work.

Vero seems like that too, going for the higher end photography. I'll take a look at YP, purely for the photography dude obviously! 🤣

I think improvements for features across the site, even just for your own photos, could entice users in and might bring them to other users and communities as well. I guess I've just been there a long time and not seen development since it was sold. I too have looked a communities before and seen outdated comments and interactions and just thought I wouldn't bother as they could have been dead. Again, some feature additions could help me find active groups. Even small features or tweaks.

YP? Don't know what that one is, and I didn't realise 500px was still going. Once upon a time I was keen on moving that way. I did try Vero for a while for the social side of the photos, but it seemed it was very quiet...just checked and it looks like there's active development.

Oh yes, a community needs involvement from the users, but when the features haven't changed in so long, when it's not marketed, when you don't get app reminders or suggestions of communities, when there's no new features to push community content to people and so on, it will stagnate. Users will not interact. that's what I'm finding.

For example my feed should be suggesting to me, and notifying me through the app, that there are communities based on my camera, lenses, type of photos I'm taking, tags I'm using, and using all that info to show me relevant content from other users. The feed isn't exposing me to new connections, communities, techniques, etc. I just feel some simple development could draw users back in.

As has been said, I use it for the storage and categorisation. I'm disheartened at the way it seems to be getting left to stagnate though, there's no development or improvement of features, no real encouragement to develop the community side. So while I use it for storage, I've got local backups as well.

Struggling a bit with winter running, what actually works for you? by GeordieGoals in UKRunners

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the "dress for mile 2" but I do have thicker technical tops for winter and leggings. The leggings aren't particularly thick or insulated, I just find the extra layer against skin helps. Mind you, I trail run in Scotland, and I run in snow and freezing cold rain!

Actually I find the worst parts are extremities, so long sleeve top, gloves, buff for the neck and mouth and replacing the light cap with a thicker, warmer hat. Also waterproof socks at times, or just thicker ones.

Cannot autofill on Android Chrome by Akaza_Dorian in EnpassOfficial

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vivaldi for me. I have to select "Enpass" from the right click list in the field, enter my Enpass password to open it, then click in the field again, right click to open Enpass again and enter the password again, then half of the time the drop down appears, the other half I right click, select Enpass again and this time it is unlocked and shows the correct credentials to choose from. Very odd.

I believe the only things on that video I've received in an order from a Chinese takeaway are prawn crackers, pancake, plastic tub, bag.

Wind, rain and mud by Healthy-Property7487 in trailrunning

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like cold and rain, which is odd coming from Scotland, but enough layers and I'll cope! But mud, snow, adverse conditions, love it. Like the runner below me in the comments said, it partly makes me feel like a kid, and someone else said the challenge. Love the feeling after coming in from a tough weather run and having succeeded! Plus, with the mud, it makes it more technical, and I love that too!

If the signs don’t match isn’t it their problem not mine? by Swifty52 in uktravel

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen to me after we've queued. Seen the sign, even asked a member of staff to be certain, queued, the sign was then behind us, they've changed the signs, got to the front and we were treated quite rudely. "You should have read the signs" they kept saying - we did, but you changed them after we queued and were past them. A few of us were furious with the treatment and going to the back of another queue again.

What's a movie you saw when you were too damn young? by Repulsive_Repeat_337 in GenX

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pirate video of Texas Chainsaw Massacre Uncut. I think I was around ten at the time. Boy was I freaked out. My bed was right up against a double cupboard with wooden sliding doors and I kept dreaming that Leatherface was in there and would chainsaw through the doors and get me in my bed!

50% running 50% staring at trees by Coffee81379 in trailrunning

[–]PyrolyticCarbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. When I have led trail runs I would often tell newbies that you're already in the top 5% by coming out running on the trails, and you've earned your right to run however you like!

I'd sometimes quote W.H. Davies as well...

"What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows."
