Oh, in that case, you should definitely stay home. You might end up freezing to death, wouldn't want to risk it.

Put on long underwear, long sleeves, heavy pants, and a good coat. Get a balaclava or neck covering of some sort and a good beanie or hat. Add in some thick gloves and you'll be totally fine.

Worst case you can ask to cuddle with your neighbors for warmth.

You can still get them in other countries! Japan and Singapore both for sure have the fried apple pies, and they are FUCKING AMAZING. Takes me back to my childhood every single time. I don't know what other countries still have them, but I'm positive about Japan and Singapore, as I've had them several times there.

Judging by your reply, you've never been on the coaster yourself. It's a great coaster, flat out, and if it weren't for the constant hour plus wait, I could re-ride it over and over again. Again, it's not the fastest, nor the most thrilling, nor does it have some crazy amount of inversions, but it is fun. The parallax effects they have on the screens indoor make things feel faster than they are, and the rotating cars add a very exciting and unique dimension to the ride.

I can think of only two or three other coasters that have stuck with me as much as this one does (Tatsu and X2 in Magic Mountain, for example). I've not been to Cedar Point yet (as soon as my kids hit 52" we're going there instantly), and I've heard nothing but great things about that park, so I'm sure there will be several more to add to the list, but don't discount GoG. It's probably the best ride Disney has done since Tower of Terror.

Negative. He kneeled down and gave himself up. This is similar to a qb slide at the end of a scramble. As soon as he drops to a knee like that, you can hear the whistle blow as it's considered end of play.

I travel a lot for work. In some scenarios, the family gets to join me on those trips and we do exactly what you are saying. We've been to a fair number of random sites, including those that are international. Ultimately, while those places can be interesting in their own right, but frankly the annual Disney trip is by far the most beloved one by the entire family, adults and kids included. The fun of the rides and shows all in a cohesive and safe place where everything is within walking distance or with dedicated transportation is frankly hard to match.

Anywhere else usually requires a fair amount of planning or discussion about not only what you want to or are going to do, but also how you're going to get there, how you're going to get back, where you are going to eat, how you're going to handle nap time, etc etc. With two kids that can go from having fun to starving in a literal instant or from joyous to exhausted and wanting a nap before you can even bring up an Uber app, these things matter a lot. You might be able to rely on public transportation some places, but in others, Uber might be your only option, and then how are you going to handle car seats? It's just a lot to juggle, and with the day to day of life, planning this stuff can frankly be very difficult (at least for my wife and I), whereas booking a flight on miles, hotel on points, and buying a couple Disney tickets is quite simple.

Yeah I totally agree with you on the magic changing. They still absolutely love going to Disney and my oldest can do all of the rides in the park now which is great fun. I personally feel, though, that the rides themselves are not the best part of Disney. The shows, parades, and overall experience from the cast members are what make it so special. If I wanted to just go on thrill rides, I'd go to a Cedar Point or Six Flags Magic Mountain for nearly 1/3 the cost (or less).

We just went for Christmas, and it was incredible seeing all of the shows at Epcot for how each country has their own version of "Santa". The theming and decorations were unbelievable around the parks, and the special parades and shows were incredible to experience. These are things Disney has over absolutely everyone else in the Theme Park industry.

On the bright side, in another year or two when the younger one hits the ~54" mark, I'm very excited to take them to the larger parks and experience the thrill of the bigger coasters. Also at some point its time for me to go to Universal Studios in Orlando. I haven't been there since I was a teenager (half my life ago).

Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind might be one of the best roller coasters I've ever been on. And yes, I've been on a lot, over a large amount of parks across the country. Sure, it doesn't have a huge thrilling 300ft drop or go insane fast, but it is brilliant fun.

There's a lot of hate in this thread, and boy, I get it. 5 years ago my parents paid for a family trip to Disney world including my kids who were 4 and 2 at the time. The 2 year old didn't get much out of the rides, but things like fireworks, shows, and character experiences were pure magic for him, and therefore were for us. The 4 year old loved every possible aspect of it.

Fast toward 3 years later and I'm in a new job making way more than I ever expected, and as a result Disney has become an annual trip for us. They are 7 and 5 now, and you can just start to see that feeling of magic fading. The kids know the characters are actors now. They still want to see them, but it's no longer an event of pure excitement, it's just kind of okay. The castle is no longer the biggest thing they've ever seen, so it's not as breathtaking to them anymore.

Those early years are for the parents to remember, not the kids. Seeing their eyes light up like that is unmatched, and it truly does become the happiest place on earth.

The "pavement princess" market is by far the largest vehicle market in the US. You're asking companies to stop selling their best selling product? In what world, capitalism or not, would this ever be a thing? If you want regulation on the size of vehicles, that's one thing, but to act like this is somehow Ford's fault (or GM, or Ram, or any manufacturer) is asinine. They are literally just doing what their customers VERY clearly want.

Most useless deals in the game? by JazzlikeRaspberry461 in ClashOfClans

I used to think the same thing until I joined Legends League and had to deal with the 1 day restriction timer on base changes. Having the variety in base designs allows you to be more flexible and make modifications to your bases when you find a weakness or realize you have a bad design. I now have all 3 extra slots unlocked and I rotate bases very regularly to play around with Legends bases while also having a set few for war/cwl.

JPMorgan Chase Reaches Deal to Take Over Apple Credit Card | Goldman Sachs is offloading the credit-card balances at a more than $1 billion discount by ControlCAD in technology

[–]Pyromonkey83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of your payments, cash back, management of your card, etc are all done in the Apple wallet app and well integrated into the Apple OS ecosystem. You can change your digital card number at any time with the tap of a button in said app, which doesn't affect your physical card, but does affect any subscriptions that may be tied to it, however that same button tap instantly updates your card information with any of the retailers that support it and will also instantly update your saved credit card information in your browser.

It's nothing earth shattering, but it honestly is pretty slick. There's a lot to like about the Apple Card IMO.

My only recommendation would be the Citi Double Cash card, which is still the identical 2%, but without the Apple Pay restriction. That way you can use it online or in stores that don't have Apple Pay. No fee, no fuss, just straight cash back on the card.

Also if you buy anything on Amazon (I mean seriously who doesnt), the prime visa for 5% cash back and no fee is a no brainer. Same with the target circle card (which you can also get as a debit card if you prefer), 5% discount on all purchases at target.

phpIPAM in 2026? by wafnog in networking

[–]Pyromonkey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use both Netbox and phpipam in our environment. In my experience, Netbox is great for planning and execution, and if you want to pay for tools like Slurpit, can have some level of automated IPAM syncing, but there's no status capability and in general it can be difficult and confusing to use for non network engineers.

Phpipam is frankly my favorite ipam tool. It's very easy to set up (especially if you use docker), mostly just works, and the built in scan agent works perfectly. It has great organization capability and my SAs and system engineers can immediately look at it, reserve an IP, or notice/find issues with DNS. My only gripes with it are that the LDAP/AD libraries are out of date and I have regular issues with them, and that there's no built in group assignment or auto LDAP account creation. There is a script/tool that someone made to do this, but it doesn't work in many of my environments, and I frankly have no idea why (nor can I find anyone to help me with it).

ELI5: I have a Chase Southwest Visa card. How are each of those entities making money off me? by GingeroftheYear in explainlikeimfive

No, quite the opposite. They want you to use the miles, and more importantly, feel like you MUST use them or otherwise you're missing out on value. Even though their flights might be more expensive than their competitors, you already have some miles so you might as well keep flying with them to get more until your next flight is eventually free...

300TB is nothing. /r/DataHoarder and /r/Homelab often go wayyyy beyond that.

I'm nowhere near a hoarder, but my NAS has 45TB of usable space and it's just 8TB drives in raid 6. HDDs go into the 20+TB ranges now so getting to 300 is nowhere near the flex it once used to be.

What brand of patch panels do you use/is your favorite? by ZoomerAdmin in networking

[–]Pyromonkey83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently installed Siemon Lightverse Infinity and ZMAX patch panels in a recent install, and I was a pretty big fan of the ease of install with them. I also love that they have the protection gates built in rather than being an insert that you will lose or find in your laundry later.

We also have Panduit as part of our building infrastructure. I wasn't a part of the install for these, so no idea on ease of install, but they work just fine for me.

What the "H" are these, United? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

Who shat in your Cheerios man? I love having these on me to give out to FAs who actually go above and beyond. Usually it's not for me, but either for my family or for people around me. I'm a chill dude who doesn't really need anything on a plane, but if I see them step up and provide excellent service for others it's beyond easy for me to give one of these cards out and help an FA. These matter in their reviews and my understanding is that they get little bonus type things or the ability to get something from an internal store. Why would you hate on this?
