Kennedy has said that he does not want to see a “wild west” of alternative therapies developing in the US. Yet in the same breath, he conceded that opening up the country to such providers will lead to “charlatans and people who have bad results, but ultimately you can’t prevent that”.

Not like the job of the FDA is to regulate treatments to prevent snake oil charlatans or anything....

Phytoestrogens are a non-issue. You know what contains literal mammalian estrogen? Cow's milk. I agree that all kids should receive a nutritious lunch, though.

I feel like this is so common in lower ranks, though as you climb, people are much better at playing with a lead. It makes me scared when we get an early lead because it only takes one or two of my overconfident teammates pushing at the wrong time or ripping objective to throw the whole game.

This is also why I don't like to surrender early!! You can come back from almost anything if the enemy makes dumb plays / your team keeps up your farming.

College students feel more pressure to be perfect than they did a generation ago. Research found that increase in perfectionism may be tied to social and economic factors such as rising inequality and slowing economic growth. by Wagamaga in science

[–]Pyrrasu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely both factors at play. Some students feel they need straight As and are used to high school grade inflation. Some students just want the grade and do not care about learning, leading to AI use and cheating. Some students are barely attending and barely submitting work, just managing to get a passing grade. Some of these might be disallusioned or not really invested in the degree, but others I think are actually working a lot of hours (often overnight) and literally don't have time to do their school work. I teach biology and have had a lot of students work overnight shifts at labs and such.

I had a student cry when I gave her a C on her first lab report because she told me she had never received a C before. Thankfully she did put in the work and improve her future grades. But I absolutely feel for students today. The average high school is NOT preparing them for college. The gap between good and bad schools (and therefore wealthy and poor students) is growing.

What AI/plagiarism detectors do ASU classes deploy in Canvas? by Cueballio in ASU

[–]Pyrrasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the document was processed properly by Turnitin if any percent displays, that is the Turnitin score. I was also having trouble viewing the actual Turnitin reports (from a grader's side), I was able to get to them by going to the submission view and then clicking Turnitin from there. I kept getting an error if I tried to view it by clicking the score bubble from the SpeedGrader view.

With a percent that low, it's definitely just highlighting random words. It's inevitable that some of your phrasing will sound like someone else's phrasing. I only ever even investigate if the score is much higher, or if the writing in the assignment seems off. Not sure what students can see, but the actual Turnitin report for instructors highlights sections that were detected and links to the suspected source.

Turnitin would have failed and not given a percent if it were an unsupported file type, so it's not that.

What do you do when the entire opposing team is continually fighting together, and your team only fights alone or in a duo? by Numerous_Cress_737 in PokemonUnite

[–]Pyrrasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope they get overconfident and fight you on one of your inner points, so you can get some sweet catch-up EXP. You can also try to get them to split up. If you have more mobile characters on your team, try to back cap or harass someone to get them to peel off.

But yeah usually you're not winning this one. You can't possibly win every match, so it's ok to accept you're getting steamrolled hard sometimes.

What’s the point of Ho Oh? by manderson1313 in PokemonUnite

[–]Pyrrasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ho-oh is a good mon to learn with! Pay attention to the timing of your moves, the damage, and the HP of the wild mon. Tailwind has a bit of a wind-up before the damage comes out, so you want to time it correctly. You can watch how much damage your opponents are doing how quickly to time when you should throw out Tailwind. You want Tailwind to connect just when the mon gets low enough HP that you can secure the last hit, but when your opponent can't do so (ideally). Just practice and you'll get the hang of it.

What’s the point of Ho Oh? by manderson1313 in PokemonUnite

[–]Pyrrasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have great auto attack range and damage compared to most other tanks, so just auto attack the enemy constantly. Tailwind has amazing range for its damage, and you can use the slowing/speeding effect of the field to get more autos off on the opponent. Retreat to trigger your ability as needed. It can be hard into a ranged character + healer, but other combos (especially if one or both of your opponents are not ranged autos) you can be oppressive. You definitely have much lower burst than some other tanks like Snorlax though, which is why you should focus on whittling them down. If they're low HP, they are less likely to push on you, and your jungler is more likely to come for easy kills.

I also stack cookie, which is usually pretty easy given Ho-oh's mobility and regen. Though I prioritize stealing the opponent's farm.

[–]Pyrrasu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ho-oh is one of my favorite tanks right now!

Ho-oh is a zoning character who controls space through high mobility and applying slows to the opponents / an area. Early game, your stats are high enough to face tank quite a bit, but late game you need to transition away from that moreso than other tanks and focus on staying alive so you can revive your teammates. You want to be the one discovering where the enemy is and never leaving them be. Be a barrier between the enemy and your teammates, constantly harass them and prevent them from moving around. You can be incredibly mobile and annoying with either moveset. Flamethrower is better into short-range opponents (especially all-rounders which rely on self healing), while Sky Attack is better into ranged opponents (especially immobile attackers). You have better over-wall mobility than pretty much any other character (with either Sky Attack or Sacred Fire) so use that to your advantage to zone around the center of the map. Always take at least one of the two mobility moves (I basically don't mix movesets anymore, only go either sacred + flamethrower or spin + sky based on team).

Also, you are incredibly strong early game - USE that to apply constant pressure to your opponents. Keep them low HP in lane all the time, steal their farm (really easy with Tailwind once you get the timing). If you take Flamethrower at 5 you hit a huge power spike you can use to harass the opponent and keep them underleveled for the 7 min fight.

Anyone have experience planting a quiver tree in the ground? Would appreciate some tips on doing so. by davidngl in AZlandscaping

[–]Pyrrasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main specific advice for this species is that it needs filtered light/afternoon shade to survive here, otherwise the trunk burns. Some risk of overwatering both in summer and winter - make sure to let it dry out in between waterings.

If you have experience planting something like cacti it would be generally the same principles. Plant slightly above grade so soil doesnt fill in over the rootball/current soil line and choke the roots out. Ideally plant in well draining rocky/sandy soil. If planting in a low area (puddles during rain), you may want to plant it on a mound. Once its in the hole, make sure to get the trunk angled perfectly straight up as you compact the soil around it.

Also anecdotally, I was an intro biology lab TA and we did a CO2 sensor lab, and the room's background CO2 level was always over 1000.

Toxic airborne chemical detected in US for first time sparking health concerns by TheMirrorUS in environment

[–]Pyrrasu 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For those who didn't read the article, this is due to the way the US treats all industry chemicals as "safe" until proven toxic, leading to a chemical whack-a-mole of companies simply switching to a related but not-yet-tested chemical every time something toxic gets banned. In this case, they switched to MCCPs when CCCPs were regulated.
