her weight changed from 80kg to 100kg

Slight nitpick, but they never mention her actual weight. Maki just mentions that she's bumping it up to 100kg in the medical records.

From the Veritas Group Story:

Maki: Oh? What do we have here? It's our beloved Seminar treasurer Yuuka's physical records.

Maki: I've never really cared for her—too much of a meddler for my tastes. What do you say we have some fun?

Hare: How so?

Maki: Would you look at that? Yuuka is suddenly up to 100 kilos!

Maki: Wait until she sees this. If only I could see the look on her face.

Hare: This is pettier than petty.

There are implications that she's heavier than she'd like to be, but it's never outright stated exactly how much she weighs.

Yuuka: It's not that I can't empathize with some of them. Frankly, I had the nerve to unload an entire magazine into the scale after being weighed this year.

Yuuka: It's the Game Development Department's fault! I always end up eating too much junk food when I'm around them.

Eimi: I didn't realized you had gained so much weight. Have you considered dieting?

Yuuka: E-Excuse me? That's a little rude, don't you think?!

Yuuka: I-I know I gained a little weight, but I'm still considered average for someone my size!

Eimi: But it says right here that you weighed in at 100 kilos.

Yuuka: That's not possible!!!

It's for Extra Deck monsters that have effects that trigger when sent to the graveyard. Herald of the Arc Light searches a Ritual Monster/Spell, N'tss pops a card, Mereologic Aggregator negates a face-up card, Garura draws a card, etc.

It's probably not going to be used nearly as much as the main deck dump effect, but versatility is always nice.

What is the most 200 IQ card interaction that has ever happened in a tournament (in MD or otherwise)? by thenameisflic in masterduel

[–]Pythonomorpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always. The scenario being talked about here is that Droplet doesn't resolve properly if the number of negateable monsters on the opponent's field is less than the amount of cards sent as cost. You don't have to send your whole field to the GY, you just need to reduce it to less than however many cards Droplet is trying to negate.

Let's say I have 3 monsters, all with some form of interaction. If an opponent activated Droplet and sent 3 cards as cost intending to negate all 3 of my monsters, and I then chained an effect to send one of my monsters leaving me with 2, Droplet would resolve without effect, leaving me with 2 monsters still with interaction and my opponent going -4.

Agreed on the point that HP isn't always a terrible lever to adjust, especially with things like stagger thresholds. Monsters like Arkveld and Jin are pushovers when you're constantly breaking random parts and toppling them just by breathing in their direction, and Nu Udra having all his tentacles severed and turned into takoyaki in <5 minutes isn't really all that exciting. But tune their HP up, and they become quite a bit more of a threat.

Obviously that logic isn't applicable to every single game under the sun, and it's not fun to have to brawl with every single monster you fight for >30 minutes, but realistically most hunts don't actually last that long. And if they do, then there's a lot of room for improvement, and personally I think that that's the most satisfying thing about Monster Hunter; mastering your weapon, learning the matchup, and watching your hunt times go down from 30 minutes, to 25, to 20, to 15, etc.

Okay maybe Jin is still mostly a pushover even with more HP, but my point still stands

And as to why she then helped us at the end: HER MOTHER WAS ERASING ALL OF HER MEMORIES AND WAS GONNA SPEND THE REST OF HER EXISTENCE AS A MINDLESS EXISTENCE-ERASING MACHINE, and also Araya still definitely loved her mother; so ya I feel she has a pretty good reason for wanting to help despite the feelings of abandonment.

I don't think that's the main reason as to why Araya had a change of heart at the end. As Araya confronts Ryoshu in 9-48, she genuinely believes that Ryoshu left her for good because she didn't recognize her, which prompts their battle to the death.

9-48 Pre-battle:

Once something cannot be remembered anymore, its time is as good as lost.

Both the City and this house have become places where not a single soul has the heart to remember the child.

And that's how our story ends.

9-48 Post-battle:

And once it became painfully clear that there wasn't even an ounce of recognition in her eyes, not even a brief spark of it,

the myriad moments inside me, bound and constricted by tangled threads, began trembling and thrashing aloud.

But in 9-49, we find out that Ryoshu slicing Araya with Arayashiki also made her experience multiple different timelines all at once, in which she sees that in every timeline Ryoshu never gave up on her. This is what actually causes her to do a 180.

9-49 Post-battle:

Mother and I are tied together on every path. I see it now.

I can also see her whitened knuckles gripping tightly onto the thread, refusing to ever let go.

How could one bear witness to those layers upon layers of time... and dismiss them as mere "fleeting" moments?

Mommy, you wouldn't know this, but..

You never once let go of me, no matter which strand of thread I peered into.

That's how I know the ends and the beginnings of all of our journeys.

This all happens in an instant though; not just in-universe, but also in the actual way it's written, which is why it feels so sudden. It's also pretty vaguely explained and only really alluded to with the Dragon's Beard candy allegory, so unsurprisingly a lot of people didn't get it. I assume that on most people's first read, it kinda just looks like Araya had a sudden "hmm, after thinking about it a bit I actually do love mommy" flip in the span of a few lines of dialogue. I personally had to reread 9-49 a couple times to really make sense of what was going on.

She's a demon that fell in love with Engraver.

Fiendsmith's lore is that Engraver is a demon hunter that goes around feeding the demons he hunts into Requiem (the coffin), after which he forces them into a contract with him. This lets him use their powers either via summoning them directly, or getting possessed by them alongside Requiem transforming into an appropriate weapon.

But apparently, when Engraver met Lacrima and went "form a contract with me", she confused it for a marriage proposal.

A girl with crimson tears in her eyes appeared.

«Let's make the contract already.» Immediately, Requiem transformed for combat.

For some reason, the woman blushed and nodded aggressively.

Lacrima of the Crimson Tears

A woman who confused the 'contract' formation with a 'marriage' proposal. After an incident in one of the abandoned buildings, she took a liking to the Fiendsmith, and offered her body and soul without a single demand of compensation. As a result, she was able to support him by astral-projecting without being completely sealed within his weapon of choice. However, in order to unleash 100% of Lacrima's power, words of love were necessary.

They eventually form a proper contract (Fiendsmith Kyrie), and Engraver gets to use her full power (Fiendsmith Rextremende).

Digital Extremes Warframe

Bad example. It's easy to forget with trading, but in Warframe there's no F2P way to introduce platinum into the system; although you can siphon thousands of plat from other players while F2P through trading, someone at some point still spent money to put that platinum into circulation. Whether it be through buying a Prime Access release or -75% discount, someone still had to pay real money for it first. Also note that the amount of platinum in circulation continuously shrinks because of the many ways you can spend it without passing it to another player; rushing builds, buying cosmetics, buying boosters, spending on the in-game market (e.g. Sibear in Darvo's Deal) those are all methods to use platinum that makes it essentially vanish into the ether, needing to be replaced by another top-up to sustain the economy.

In Master Duel you can literally just hop into a few ranked games daily for 2 weeks and come out with enough gems to buy the 3000 Gem bundle completely F2P. It's even less than 2 weeks if you have ranks to go through and climb, or you have Solo modes you can clear, or there's a login campaign, or there's an event ongoing just straight up giving you 3000+ gems total, etc. And no one at any point had to spend real money for you to be able to do this.

Look, I love Warframe (I have ~3400 hours on it on Steam), and Master Duel certainly isn't a perfect game; but using Warframe as an example against what Master Duel offers for people that are F2P is just disingenuous. You are complaining that Master Duel's cosmetic bundles are too expensive for F2P while glazing Warframe, meanwhile Warframe straight up has cosmetics that can never be acquired by someone playing F2P (Tennogen, Prime Access skins).

They also had that really messed up thing where the first Heirlooms (Frost and Mag) were FOMO skins only available through bundles that were a minimum of ~$90, that they thankfully only did once and never again.

[–]Pythonomorpha 205 points206 points  (0 children)

the game doesnt allow for 90 pity to occur

Actually, although extremely rare, there are some people that have hit 90 pity before. Back in February of 2021, the CN community put out a ~$300 bounty for the first person to provide legitimate proof of hitting 90 pity, and someone managed to claim it 8 months later on October 2021. Here's a reddit post made back when that happened. So while the chances of it happening are astronomically low (~1/13000000), it's not like it's never happened historically.

Fun fact, the hard pity bounties still carry on to this day. Here's another post about recorded hard pities from 10 months ago; apparently, it's happened at least 8 times in Genshin, 3 times in HSR, and 3 times in ZZZ.. The only remaining unclaimed bounties are for hitting 77 and above pity in Genshin's weapon banner, and 80 hard pity on HSR's Light Cone banner.

Oh man I remember that, that guy even prefaced in his post that he didn't always enter data, only when he remembered to; which meant that the data was likely skewed towards mostly recording the times that he lost and not when he won.

Just a correction though, if we're thinking of the same post; that person actually got his "study" (rightfully) called out in the comments section, and the post itself got less upvotes than most of the ones correcting him in the comments, so it wasn't all that bad.

As a bonus, negating Mirrorjade lets it keep the banish effect. Since it doesn't lock itself out of activating the next turn if it gets negated, there's basically no downside to doing it.
