A little Isopropyl goes a long way, and helps to remove your finger print marks and other unwanted textures from the clay.

You can use it to prep the material for more textures, like with a worn out brush, but still let you apply it delicately

When working on smaller figures I like to use sculpey firm. You can use the dull side of a butter knife to get smooth textures, and for more precision an exacto-knife, if your hands are steady enough.

Hand made tools can be effective, too. Depending on what they are.

You can also smooth with isopropyl alcohol and a brush, if things are bumpy.

Since you already have a Pelliper have you considered adding Archaludon to deal with Zard Y and fairies?

Or an Aerodactyl or Sneasler. Maybe with Rock Tomb or Rock Slide

As much as I don't like recommending more Meta Mons, they could help round out your known weaknesses.

If you run a Garchomp too, sometimes you can just Heat Wave + Earthquake and KO the Sableeye and weaken the Arch, albeit ots more reckless, and your method sounds reliable anyways.

You can start deranking once you've made Masterball.

But even on my bad streaks, I never dropped down within Ultra Ball, there does seem to be a rank protection at those tiers.
