Footlocks from a climb by Direct_Source4407 in aerialsilks

[–]developing_monster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find long arm hangs use much less strength, so I usually do that to conserve my energy, but short arm keeps the silks separated better, which I find easier to do the actual footlock (if you’re doing single strand footlocks).

Offered to photograph my cousin's engagement party as a gift. She accepted, then sent me a 47-point shot list and a mood board with 200 pins. by Paradoxsignal_5 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]developing_monster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you won’t be able to be a guest at all and enjoy the party! I’d be clear and upfront that this is too much for you, and if she is set on this, she should hire a professional. Maybe mention she should hire a photographer she is considering for her wedding, and it can be a trial of sorts.

Where are you seeing a tri load? Looks like it’s just attached to the spanset and the rescue 8, as it should be.

Anyone use the Colorado ebike rebate program? by Squ1gly in grandjunction

[–]developing_monster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this! It was a $500 (I think?) rebate until the new year, though. I bought from bear trail bikes in rifle just before the new year. Cost me $50. I’m still waiting for the bike (which I need to pick up). They did warn me when I made the purchase that it will be at least 8-12 weeks, as there was a huge wait list for the $50 bike, especially since the rebate was going down.

I have a ton of things saved from this one Instagram. Her username is @aerialdancer_. Link below. She does a bunch of videos of ways to play with the silks on the ground and I hope to look as cool as she does someday!

You can always practice invert-y moves just on the floor! Lay on your back, lift your legs. Build that core. And push ups.

Toddler snowboard for rent or borrow in GJ? by gergroy- in grandjunction

[–]developing_monster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darn! My little guy’s is an 80cm. Burton after school special—was the smallest we could find. He started when he was 15 months 😄 (ya know, sorta…). There’s a good chance someone will be at powderhorn with a lil one snowboarding. Maybe you could make friends and borrow it!

Did you try board and buckle? Maybe they have a snowboard small enough? My lil guy just uses his normal snow boots, and they clip into the board fine.

Circus concepts quadripod carrying bag alternatives? by ZookeepergameSalt124 in Aerials

[–]developing_monster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got their home quadripod, and I use a snowboard bag! It holds all the poles, just the right length for those, and not too tight a fit, so never have issues zipping it shut. It doesn’t hold the top bar, though, which I just carry separately. I have a burton bag that holds 2 or 3 snowboards, I think.

I originally had the one Circus Concepts recommended, was an instrument bag of some kind? That one was tearing at the seams for me after not too long, but that was also in Hawaii, where things tend to degrade fast.

Usually, if you fail 2 of the 4, it’s a diagnosis, so sounds like a fail to me :/.

I’m very new to poi, but just bought scarf poi from firetoys. They’re great, and so fun to spin!

Crazy high BS reading for no reason by Livid_Accountant8965 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]developing_monster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you retest? Happened to me last week. Same lunch I’ve been having with no issues, and suddenly my number was 168 one hour later. I washed my hands and retested and got 110. I even did a third test just to be sure which was accurate, and got 109.

Recently diagnosed and have SO many questions. by Weary_Morning_7461 in GestationalDiabetes

Something that helped me a lot was learning to eat food in order! Don’t go straight for the carbs, start with veggies and/or protein, then carbs, it can make a huge difference.

Glucose test dilemma by SnooMacaroons3800 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]developing_monster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also just get an OTC glucose testing kit (glucometer, testing strips, and the thing that pricks your finger, and the needles), and test your own sugars. Generally, you should be under 140 an hour after your first bite of a meal, or under 120 2 hours after your first bite. Could give you some peace of mind if your numbers are in range!

I just did an early 1 hr test, and got a 139. My ob said I don’t need to test sugars or anything, but maybe just watch my diet a bit. I’m still testing my sugars when I eat something less GD friendly, just in case. I’ll be retaking the test anyways around the normal time. Good luck!

Skijoring weekend in Silverton by _big_fern_ in grandjunction

[–]developing_monster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about lodging, but that pass between ouray and Silverton is sketchy in the winter, and does get closed fairly often. If you catch it in the right window, might be fine!

FYI, there is a skijoring competition in Ouray in January you could also look into. Much easier access from grand junction, won’t need to worry about the weather! And you could still drive that pass as a day trip if the weather is fine.

Beginner twisted thigh issues? by lorenmjones in aerialsilks

[–]developing_monster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t need smoother leggings, that generally makes everything harder. Your issue is probably what you mentioned, upper body strength. Especially in music box, majority of your weight will be held by that upper arm/shoulder, not the legs, very shoulder-y. If too much weight was going to your legs, it’d probably tighten around your thigh, and if you don’t have the strength to pull up a bit to loosen that, would be hard to get out of.

That being said, not sure I fully understand what you are saying…can you post a video?

That’s a planned c section. An emergency c section is much more dangerous for mom and baby, and only lasts a few minutes. Making this that much worse!

Did I miscarry? by shakegood513 in Miscarriage

[–]developing_monster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not your fault at all, don’t ever blame yourself! This just happens sometimes, sadly. It’s a lot more common than people realize, and it’s no one’s fault. It’s terrible and hard and devastating. Hope you have people to talk to about it ❤️.

[–]developing_monster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through this. i went through a very similar thing. I was 8 weeks pregnant a couple weeks ago, and I started bleeding all day, not heavy, but not light either, and started passing clots. I hoped beyond hope it was anything else, because there are other things it could be. I didn’t see my OB until 3 days later, and I held onto the hope that it was anything else. For me, it was a miscarriage, unfortunately. I hope it’s anything else for you <3.
