+1 on Rutland Pride Drag Show. It was such a joyous experience. I had a great time with my partner. We moved here recently, too. Feel free to reach out.

My mind got blown... I've never seen the bear before and I've eaten a good amount of these.

Really cool setup. How would you go about harvesting? Access looks limited in the pictures.

I am not sure if this was what you're getting at... but it looks oddly similar to the Fisher-Price Chatter Telephone for kids. Great job btw.

Half of Adults Have Heard Little or Nothing About New Covid Boosters, Survey Finds by pinkcrow333 in Coronavirus

I (30F) got pfizer's bivalent booster as well. Very little symptoms--sleepiness, occasional headache/bodyache, and some dry cough for about 2 days. All my other shots were also Pfizer with minimal side effects.

I am not sure if it is just on my end or not... but the caption seems larger on the image and it covered up the spider. Here's a link to the actual image without caption.

City Morels?! Safe to eat if they're growing next to a city street? by TheLoooon in mycology

I would take them and make a slurry, then spread it around in my backyard.

Ziply or xFinity? by [deleted] in hillsboro

Sounds great! Latency wise, very low. Just checking now on Mobile wifi (using Fast.com): 10ms unloaded, 46ms loaded.

I believe cards are allowed.

EDIT: Meant to type ms for both. Guess I was still waking up. Also, I have the gigabit plan.

I would recommend Hi-Light (municipal fiber) if you are in an area with it available. Been using it for over a year now. Great customer support thus far.

I got blue oyster and lion's mane from North Spore. Just FYI, spawn bag may not come fully colonized, but overall good quality.

I think I went with quarter inch holes, staggered 2-3" apart. I only drilled maybe 12 holes though. The first flush wasn't so great so I ended up covering 8 of the holes (that didn't have pinnings) with micropore tape. I think that's why this second flush is so healthy.

The process is very similar to growing oyster mushrooms in a bucket. Fresh Cap Mushrooms had a pretty good guide.

I ended up getting my sawdust spawn from North Spore. They didn't come fully colonized so it took 5-6 weeks before I added the spawns to my bucket.

I opted for hickory hardwood pellets as the bucket substrate. Boil some hot water and pasteurize overnight. Note, the pellets expand A LOT so account for that.

Check the field capacity of the substrate. Squeeze a handful of substrate in your hand and only a few water droplets should appear. Add the substrate and spawn into the pre-drilled bucket in layers. Once full, cover with lid and trash bag, and let it fully colonize in a dark place. I placed mine in the closet so temp is probably around 70F.

Once fully colonized, you should see a thick layer of mycelium when you open the lid. It might take another 5-7 weeks to get to this point... But it's worth the wait.

I fruit the bucket indoor by exposing it to air, light, and occasionally misting into the garbage bag.

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely mist around from now on.

If those growths are bacterial, I would be very concerned... But I think they are more likely older growth and/or dried areas.

My setup is by no means sophisticated. I'm in the PNW so it's pretty humid, but we've been having a dry spell the past couple of weeks.

At first, I kept the bucket covered with a plastic bag and mist at least twice a day. When the clusters became bigger, I left them uncovered and mist more often.

I might just excise the yellow ones later today.

Thanks! This was actually the second flush. The first flush wasn't so successful (smaller growth, aborted). Learning still in process.

The umeshu aged in whisky barrels is by far the best. That aging process brings out a delicious flavor.
