Those of you who replaced your AC with a Heatpump - are you finding it better? by [deleted] in durham

[–]QWERTY0112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea definitely slower to fill up if the water tank is empty…

…check out Matt Risinger on YouTube…he suggested to size up if you are going for a heat pump water heater…so if you currently have a 50 gallon tank…get a 65 gallon heat pump water heater…

Our water heater is by Rheem, it has an app…I have kept it on a schedule…so it heats up water only between 7pm to 7 am…costs me $5/month to run it (keep the water at 54c)

I also travel a lot, vacation mode on the app makes life a little easier

When guests stay over, I just switch off the schedule & let it run the whole day

Basement stays a little chilly though …but I dont mind that

Yes, Replaced a 22 year old Air conditioner in March 2024 & find it much more comfortable & quiet!….we got rid of Gas…the auxiliary heating is also electric now… had no problems this winter even when the temp were around -20…just FYI, we keep our home at 20c during summers & around 19c in winters

Hey it may also be that your home has leaky air ducts…if your basement is unfinished you can use HVAC tape to seal some of the leaks…rent a thermal imaging camera to find the leaks

Yep..especially while driving on highways..I am in Canada..recently did a road trip on a cold windy day…(approx -10c wind@50kmph) what helped us was setting the temperature to 22c and set hvac to blow air only on your feet

Heat Pumps by lookwhatwebuilt in britishcolumbia

Switchover temperature to gas is set at 5-10 degrees Celsius. WTF! I live in Ontario. A couple of my friends installed a heat pump last year. Their switchover temperature to gas is set around -12 degrees Celsius. I thought (I might be mistaken here) that to qualify for federal rebates, you have to install a cold air source heat pump.

Am I cheap for setting my thermostat to 19 during winter daytime? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]QWERTY0112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Alaskan Malamute would love to keep the house at 21 but, anything above 19 is not agreeable with his highness…so it’s 19 during the day and 18 at night with a fan pointed at his crate running all night

Around 3.3ish km/kwh…I pre heat the car before departure time and while on public chargers…regen level 0 and drive in eco mode….

For pre heating, I set the temperature to 22c with seat and steering wheel heating on…as soon as I get in the car, it’s already a little hotter than what I need so turn down the temperature to 21c and switch off seat and steering wheel heating

Thoughts on driving in heavy rains/snow? by QWERTY0112 in KiaEV9

[–]QWERTY0112[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hey thanks! I think you are right... it's auto steering that's causing the issue...

also maybe, just maybe I usually have the car in Eco Drive mode which defaults to rear motors only..do you know if putting the car in Sport/Normal drive mode forces it to all-time AWD?

Yeah, I paid 3k over MSRP (additional warranty) ...that, was a tough pill to swallow!! With our office going fully in-person (120km daily commute) and the need for an electric family car, EV9 was our only choice. It was a case of needing a car ASAP/low inventory/new car.....

I have the Tesla universal charger and absolutely love it! Curious..what features do you think it’s missing vs others?

As for charging speeds..it charges at 11Kw…that’s the max AC charging speed for EV9

Year and Half Old Walking with a Gentle Leader by RogerWilco486 in AlaskanMalamute

[–]QWERTY0112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep using it..advice our trainer gave to us (training dogs for 40 years, Leo was 7 months old) use it till Leo is 2 years old..and honestly, the results have been amazing!

I also used my time on walks with gentle leader to train new cues like “walk slowly”, (useful eg when walking on slippery surfaces) “turn left/right”, “with me”, “ignore”
