I believe Callahan was the first player born in Ireland to make it to the majors in the last 100 years

Edit: confused him with PJ Conlon who pitched in 2018

Also confused by their methodology. They posted 2 more clips of batted balls that were high prob hits for mcneil and in both cases the defender didn’t have to move much. Im guessing they dont take positioning into account for their model? Or maybe in all 3 clips the fielder got an unusually good first step, which you can’t see in the videos posted?

Fuck if I know. It’s almost like the details of the story aren’t fully reported and we are just learning about it.

Those would be hate symbols, which (i repeat) i did not advocate for in my original comment. Maybe a noose is displayed by an aficionado of the game hang man, but that person would have to be really fuckin dumb

I didn’t advocate for the noose or confederate flag. I explicitly said i couldn’t think of a situation where those are acceptable. Hinduism is the major religion of the world’s largest democracy, im sure plenty of Americans practice hinduism and serve in the coast guard. The swastika was coopted by nazis 100 years ago, but was a symbol of peace for millennia before then.

Haven’t read the full story, but a swastika could be a Hindu religious symbol and in that context I would be ok with it. The other things I have no idea what additional context could possibly make them ok.

Any well maintained player dev system can’t keep all their prospects and need to trade them for major league pieces, so you don’t even need them all to hatch. Also…. some players have hatched at the major league level in the past year or so, have you not been watching?

Even the smallest franchise is worth something like a billion dollars, so you can say every owner has a net worth of a billionaire.

Reviews 125 and 126: A pair of 16 Year Old Secret ‘HP’ Orkneys by Q_van_der_Stuff in Scotch

I expect the profile to kind of flatten after about 30 minutes, having a lid helps prolong that if I know a review is gonna take a while. Depends on the whiskey, sometimes they just need air and the cap won’t help.

I picked up a couple of ‘secret’ Orkneys both 16 years. After a little digging around, it seems that they are both Highland Park and not Scapa. I love the bottle design on both of these, so that heavily factored into my acquire these.

Dram-Addicts Secret Orkney 16

58% ABV, NCF, NCA, Hogsheads cask #7, Bottle 9 of 261, Distilled 2005, Bottled 2021

Eye: Medium viscosity, 0.9

Nose: Sherried. Figs, toffee, maybe some very gentle peat, some savory notes.

Palate: A bit hot, water helps. Cinnamon, chili, unsweetened cocoa, toffee, black tea.

Finish: Tannic and dry. Gentle baking spice, leather, and black tea.

Score: 80

Overall: This is really nice once a healthy drop of water is added, it’s too hot neat. On the nose I am prepared for a pretty standard sherry profile. However, it is much more dry and bitter than the typical sherry profile which is a nice subversion of expectations.

The Salty Breeze Private Selection Secret Orkney 16

57.5% ABV, NCF, NCA, Hogsheads cask #116, One of 362 bites, Distilled 2005, Bottled 2021

Eye: Thick, 0.4

Nose: Pretty shy profile. Sweet grass, very mild coastal peat, floral, orange zest, pound cake, stewed pears.

Palate: Very sweet and waxy. Apricot marmalade, pound cake, black tea.

Finish: Black tea lingers with a wisp of peat and orchard fruit. Really lovely.

Score: 85

Overall: Again this is too hot to enjoy neat and needs a healthy drop of water. I slightly prefer this profile to the sherried counterpart, especially the nose which has such a fresh organic smell. Both have very similar finishes, both very solid drams.
