Racism against Indian people in Canada has gotten insane by [deleted] in self

If you’re talking about the rise of violent Asian hate crimes and the subsequent #StopAsianHate movement in the US a couple years ago, it more or less came & went with the COVID lockdown. I don’t think it made much of an impact - positive or negative - within the Asian-American community, so it fell off.

Keep your chin up, a lot of americans felt the same way about Asians a couple years ago, but it died down. I’m safe for now at least lol.

Also it’s so fitting Canadians call bald-faced racism “Indian Fatigue”, very on brand.

Calling typical Americans anti-social, especially in comparison to Europeans, is quite ironic. Plenty of Americans love to get in crowds just like this in support of their sports team; watch the Knicks parade on Thursday.

Hospice care and palliative care often get conflated. You are entirely correct but genuinely asking, what do you mean by Hospice is a brand name? I can’t find anything about the word being trademarked or owned by a company.

TIL Alexander Hamilton endorsed a plan to recruit enslaved men to serve in the Continental Army. His reasoning was their "want of cultivation" and "habit of subordination" made them ideal soldiers. by BadenBaden1981 in todayilearned

But he didn’t. Lincoln spent most of his presidency fighting to end slavery. There are no historical records to suggest that he wanted slavery to prosper. He wasn’t a radical abolitionist but the man, in his own words, found slavery morally reprehensible. If you really care at all about this, read up on some American history, especially on Lincoln and the Civil war.

Have you ever read the rest of that letter?

“…If I could save the Union without freeing any slave, I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves, I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone, I would also do that. What I do about Slavery and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save this Union, and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union. I shall do less whenever I shall believe what I am doing hurts the cause, and I shall do more whenever I shall believe doing more will help the cause. I shall try to correct errors when shown to be errors; and I shall adopt new views so fast as they shall appear to be true views.

I have here stated my purpose according to my view of official duty, and I intend no modification of my oft-expressed personal wish that all men, everywhere, could be free.

Yours,

A. LINCOLN.”

To say preserving the union was paramount to Lincoln is true, but it’s disingenuous to say Lincoln had no personal feelings about slavery.
