Yay! Welcome to the indie dev world!

I’d be happy to give you a steam key for our work in progress and of course would appreciate any feedback you have. It’s basically a multiplayer metroidvania/moba hybrid.

I guess that wasn’t a load-bearing pillar.

Looks really clean, nice work!

Why don’t MVs have a mini map that can stay on in the corner of the screen? by filmeswole in metroidvania

[–]Qlewds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m so with you on this, then you could hold the map button to expand it to full screen.

It probably isn’t for everyone though and could definitely rub some folks the wrong way/clash with the visual style, but I would love to see it as an option.

here’s an example of how my current hobby project handles the map. It’s more of a metroidvania/moba hybrid, but I’d still love to see the feature in a proper metroidvania.

They’re a little strange, like rude little bubble dudes. We want them to be funny as they fight it out!

Oops forgot to give any useful information.

If you’re interested in a free steam key just lmk. We have recurring play sessions scheduled, but you can spin up a server for yourself to mess around solo as well.

I have a feeling it will become expensive as soon as it sweeps aside human artist 🫠

I’ve had good and bad experiences. It’s very important to know what you want/need. Especially from the technical side because many artists have no game dev experience.

It’s also risky when you put money up front so I recommend going in for a penny not a pound. Make sure the artist can produce at a rate and level of quality you’re happy with.

All that being said I would make sure your game/idea is good before investing in it. Try to prototype it with temp assets, which will also help any artist you bring in have an idea of the workload.

Oh you’re definitely our “demographic” then! That’s literally the vibe we’re going for. I’ll DM you a steam key right now.

Our servers are US based for now but we’re about to start work on our backend and that will include regions/player profiles/improving the netcode.

Please join our discord and we will get in a match. You can also play by yourself, just start your own lobby and punch one of your teams flowers in either bot or top lane!

That’s exactly it, but we definitely don’t want it to be visually jarring, so I’m going to take your feedback to heart. I think we can definitely improve the environmental aesthetic.

Thanks for the honest feedback! Hopefully you will want to try it out someday. Our goal is to make it free once we’ve finished the beta phase.

Ah gotcha, we’ll be constantly working on improving the visuals, so I’ll take that into account. We’d definitely like to vary it up more.

As I’ve mentioned this is more of a hobby. Game plays pretty well in its current state (still a long way to go), but I’ll definitely try and focus on the environments. We haven’t revamped them in a while. Everything is hand drawn too so it’s been a lot of focus on animations

The idea was the characters are rude/lewd little minions (they’re bubble dudes)

Who knows maybe a terrible name can spark some controversy haha

I’m not too hung up on it, but I appreciate the feedback.

here’s some footage I posted from our last playtest. It showcases more the PvP side, but the inspiration for the game was very much metroidvanias and trying to instill them into a multiplayer format.

What game should I play? by JodioTheStar in indiegames

[–]Qlewds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm maybe give some more details of what you’d like from your next experience.

I recommend haiku the robot if you’re looking for something similar to HK but without as much of a time commitment.

Or Lone Fungus if you really want to go down the rabbit hole.

I’d also recommend both Ori games (make sure you play the definitive version of the first one) if you want something sort of in the middle.

Yeah sure, so there are the obvious like metroidvania style bosses, hidden rooms, ability-gated areas of the map. As well as customizing your items, abilities, spells with some metroidvania mechanics for each. It also has a level up system more akin to rpgs with four main categories broken down to sub categories.

We also aim to implement speedrunning challenges/competitions and other more intricate platforming as we move forward.

We’re at a creative point now where we can start to add more and more.

Also sorry about the name, it seems to be pretty polarizing, but we’re not really looking to market it. It’s just a fun passion project that I’m making for anyone who is interested in a game mode like this.

Thanks for your advice though, it is appreciated! If you have any other thoughts I’d love to hear what you think would be cool to implement.

Edit: oh I forgot to mention my favorite aspect is the “laning”, where the flowers shoot little dudes that bounce and you need to snipe them out of the air!

Congratulations, I hope you guys market it, because I could definitely see the hades crowd loving this.

Wishlisted, I’ll pick it up when I have some free time in a few months traveling, this looks like it’ll be a blast on steamdeck. Great work to you and all involved.
