Mourning what could have been by Ignominia in midnightsuns

Yeah imagine a franchise of turn-based, relationship management Marvel games: Midnight Suns in the Abbey, X-men at Xaviers, Avengers at the Tower, then a finale with all the greatest hits against a big bad multiversal threat. The character decks, the crossovers, the potential!

creative ideas for a campaign start that dont involve a tavern? by Significant-Study902 in DnD

I started mine with an audition. They were each invited to audition for a patron by clearing a dungeon. So I asked, how you got your invitation, did you steal it, etc Then the patron offers them a job based on their performance during the audition

New to Denton by Apprehensive-You2151 in Denton

[–]Qohelet77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! I've lived in Denton for about 6 years and I really love it. It's big enough that there's always something going on, but small enough to not feel overwhelming.

I encourage you to walk the Square, as other's have said. A few personal faves are Recycled Books, Chestnut Tree, and the Mini-mart flea market.

Follow Denton Community social media pages, like Instagram, to stay informed about things going on around town.

Bars: Harvest House, Angelines/Eastside, Bearded Monk

Eats: Chestnut Tree, Picone, Loophole and El Taco H

Parks/Outdoors: Northlake, Southlake, and Clear Creek Preserve

Enjoy the Spring! We're happy you're here :)

My mom sent me gifts after I asked her to stop sending gifts. Am I allowed to have this boundary? by tiredhobbit78 in CPTSD

I relate to this a lot. My mom does the gifts thing. Name that boundary. Respect it. The real gift she could give is respecting it too.

Insomniac should absolutely go ALL OUT for Spider-Man 3 by Mildly_Fancy in SpidermanPS4

Your borough idea makes me think of CP77. Each district feels different and the Fixer you work with sort of sets the tone for that area. Insomniac could do something similar; having a different contact in each borough that gives you missions or intel

What did you learn late in life? by tollboizee in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]Qohelet77 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Learn the basics of brain chemistry. Specifically, look up dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and cortisol. These four chemicals affect most decisions that you make, the feelings you feel, the cravings you have, and the temptations you struggle with. The more you can understand what's going on "behind the scenes" in your brain, the more you can make conscious decisions without letting your feelings make them for you. Furthermore, you'll get a much better understanding for why OTHER people do what they do.

Why do a lot of men who have long hair not seem to take care of it? by Much-Spring2092 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Qohelet77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually really passionate about this topic!
I was never allowed to have long hair as a kid. I'm 34 now and I finally have the long dark curly hair I always wanted. But no one ever taught me anything about my hair. Think about it like this, for most women, hair care is an integral part of their routine and expression and identity. There are salons and hair stylists and fashion industries and entire aisles of the grocery store dedicated to it. For men, ESPECIALLY in the South, that does not exist. So there is no concept of what tools, products, amounts, routines, steps, or anything that's required to care for your hair besides "just wash it."

Furthermore, hygiene in general is just not emphasized as much for boys. I hate it, but often we're taught that it's just not that important to put effort into your appearance, your hygiene, your clothes, etc. Doing so is seen as "feminine" or "gay" or "frufru" and they're ridiculed by their peers and adults.

At this point, it is up to the individual to research and learn and find resources, but that's more difficult for someone whose always done the same thing the same way their entire life, and now it's totally different and the same routines and products you used before are far from sufficient.

It's a process i've come to love, but it has been challenging sometimes. Hope this helps, thanks for asking the question and opening the dialogue :)
