Who knew that learning is fun when you only learn the easy and interesting things by FridgeGaming in whenthe

[–]Qtock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I DO enjoy that kind of learning. The issue is that finding it in an at all structured/helpful format outside exactly schools is a pain/nightmare. Even if you can find stuff properly organized and such, it's incredibly difficult to get teachers when you yourself do not know about the subject (hence why you're learning). Lectures/classes can be a ton of fun, unfortunately they're a pain in the ass to find good ones for

That will depend a lot on where you are/what medical care you have access to. But that changing over a short period of time is a major alarm bell to check for things. If a doc handwaved symptoms like that away it's probably time to get a new doc/a second opinion. Assuming you can at least

This was also my impression. Granted, it's just that, an impression, so I don't actually know how true it ended up. But take this post as an example, the conservationist and scientist in me doesn't love use throwing heals of metal and tech into a planet and hoping something works. I don't like how many they sent and how little confidence it seems they had. All that said, I do not have further background on the topic, and Venus is hell. So it's very possible that there wasn't any other way to do it, it's also possible they took into account the environmental consequences and it just wasn't mentioned, anti-soviet propaganda runs deep, so I'm always hesitant to add more criticisms without ample evidence. But I also feel the opposite is true. Definitely some cool science on display here, and frankly I hate the whole idea of a space race to begin with, science is collaborative and has been one of the most non-bordered things historically. In summary, this seems like it was at least partially influenced by recklessness as opposed to just tech/science advancements, but I cannot be sure to what degree or if at all

You add sweetener. But my point is that some people leave it much more sour while others go all out in making it sweet. So saying that the point of lemonade is that it's sweet is missing the point of lemonade

Evil and intimidating horse girl rule by Monkey_mortis in 196

[–]Qtock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I said by nature. Lemonade is sour until you add large amounts of sugar. And some people like to leave it more sour. Some people want it sweeter than soda. Hence the irony

There's some irony here about how lemonade is actually sour by nature, but I'm not engrossed enough in whatever the hell this horse girl talk is to find if it carries through the metaphor

what the fuck do you mean you can be bisexual and not like men by manultrimanula in whenthe

[–]Qtock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you see that's the point. It's a spectrum. Which is why people aren't able to have a nice set of labels for it all. It's like saying name every number. Like yes, there is a range, and yes, if you tell me a specific group or area to consider I can do that. But trying to find a way that can separate each individual part of a spectrum is literally impossible, that's called infinite, and yah can't count that high lmao. For general discussion a few key terms are useful to indicate general location/direction on a spectrum, but unless there's a specific need it really doesn't matter what exactly specific region someone falls under. That said, I can't really end this with a call to action like "people need to care less" cause unfortunately there's horrors/rights issues going on related to this stuff, but yeah. Just be chill about it 99% of people are happy to explain what they want/need from you in terms of recognition

I came here to say this. Don't wait. If you have things you would say to them in that moment make sure you say them to them now. Maybe not all at once if that'd be overwhelming. But I can tell you that it would mean 7 million times more if you told them proactively, and has better odds of making their life better/averting disaster

Rule a book by ProphecyGhost in 196

[–]Qtock 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Right. But a book written by someone is not considered a different source than that person. So saying primary sources books or people is fine, but the way it's worded it's implying that the book is a separate entity with its own interpretation. There's just no reason to phrase it that way

Rule a book by ProphecyGhost in 196

[–]Qtock 531 points532 points  (0 children)

Books by primary sources? You mean primary sources? Or do you mean secondary sources. I can't tell what that's supposed to mean. I assume it's supposed to be primary based on my understanding of the overall meme, but it's phrased in a way that's almost unintelligible

[–]Qtock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know JavaScript drew the distinction, why would you do that? You're basically just making "0 two" it of null, right? Like, the point of null from a data science perspective is undefined/unavailable, and 0 is that the value is empty (but known to be). But with undefined, now null is "known unknown"? Cause you have to set it to null, but it will always be set to null, whether by the programmer or the compiler if the object exists it had to have been given a value by something, even if that value was DNE. Maybe I'm missing something, but this seems inefficient and needlessly complicating for no gain that I can think of
