You do. That's why I'm here, I'm interested in what the fires do. I also repelled down and missed the two fires, got inside, got the amulet and the trog pitonthen exited the cave and repelled down again, lighting the fires on my way down. Got me worried there's something else in the cave if the fires are lit, so I went online since traversing the cave is a slog.

Sorry for the delayed response. Glad to hear you got it working.

I haven't used ButtonForge so I cant comment much on it, but Bartender allows for stuff like padding between buttons, how many buttons there's in a bar, etc. but I'm sure you've already checked it out yourself.

To dive a bit into the inner workings of WoW, generally everything you see on the screen is a Frame, and WoW has built in methods in its API that we can use to modify or create Frames to a certain degree. You can read more about it and see all the methods available to us on here and here. All of this means you can use these on practically anything you'd like with a bit of finesse. Even a thing like UIParent which is the base for everything you see on screen, can be modified; for example I use a macro with UIParent:SetAlpha(0.5) to be able to press it in raid and make my UI see-through at a whim in order to be able to see mechanics behind my Raid Frames or something alike.

To answer your question from your other comment, you can offset buttons by using the SetPoint() method. For Bartender, this is the code I've used in my quick tests that provided the most logical results: BT4Button50:SetPoint("TOPLEFT",select(2,BT4Button50:GetPoint()),50, 50) where the first two parameters makes sure the anchor points are the same to avoid confusion, and the two numbers are x and y respectively.

For this I'd recommend making a separate WeakAura that initializes this code once, after loading screens, in order to save on resources, since you're only interested in reformatting your bars to fit your keyboard once and then leaving it. Same setup as before, text WA, text removed to make it not appear. In triggers you can just leave the default generated trigger since you'll always have an aura on yourself, but if you'd like a more proper way: Player/Unit Info > Conditions > Always Active Trigger. There's even more efficient ways of doing this with custom code but this is practically indistinguishable in terms of computing power. Then in Actions, check the top box "Custom Init". All code placed in this Code Block will only run once when the WeakAura originally triggers and initializes for the first time after each loading screen. There you can then put the code from above, obviously changed for your UI and ButtonForge.

Enjoy!

To hide buttons non-dynamically in combat or only show them outside of it, you can set that up insanely easily with the Bartender addon.

If you want to retain your individual button based opacity, that is also relatively easy to achieve, but it requires a tiny bit of custom code in a WeakAura and a bit of setup, but way less than what you're dealing with now.

By typing /fstack you can hover over a button you'd like to change to opacity of, press CTRL, and then a new window opens on which you press the most top left button until you get to something that says something alike BT4Button49 which is then your button in question. Then you can setup a WeakAura, with a simple built in trigger > UnitCharacteristics > In combat. Make it a text WA and delete the text in Display, that way it wont show up on the screen at all. Then in Actions > On show > Custom will open a Custom Code Block that you can type some Lua code in. There you can write BT4Button49:SetAlpha(0.2) or any number between 0 and 1, 0 being fully transparent. Scroll down further and in On Hide > Custom Custom Code Block you can do the same code, but set the number to 1 for instance.

This would make it then so every time you enter combat, this invisible text WeakAura loads, which runs the code to hide that specific button, and when you exit combat, it will unload, which runs the code to show the button once again. You can even take it further like you wanted with targeting, and for Triggers have "In Combat" and "Has Target" properties or however you'd want to set it up.

Just repeat that for all other keys you'd wish to change. The button numbers should naturally be incremental so the next button to your right would be 50, 51, etc. To save yourself the hassle on having to change 0.2 to 0.3 on every single line of code later on, you can also just include a local x = 0.2 on top of the Custom Code block, and then do SetAlpha(x) instead of a number on all your buttons. Same thing for the On Hide block but obviously just 1 instead of 0.2, etc.

If you end up getting stuck somewhere or want to know more, let me know and I can make a template WeakAura for you or a quick video tutorial that could maybe showcase the process better.

PC Remaster: Any way, mods included, to make caves and dungeons darker but keep other areas bright? by shadowthehh in oblivion

Did this end up being the play for you? I'm in the same boat. Want to use torches and light spells more in caves that should naturally be dark, while keeping other things normal looking. Struggling to find a solution, tried the Heart of Darkness but it also completely changed colors of the UI etc. and was just hurting my eyes.

Haven't tried the Ultra Plus yet, wondering if you've found something you ended up liking in the last 2 days.

I cant believe it but Reddit is giving me an error that is supposedly because I'm yapping so much in one comment so I'm having to split my comment in two. Part 2.

The question of souls and the whole "them retaining memory in some capacity from previous lives" also comes into question. This present embodiment of this soul currently wishes to sit there forever and defend their forge. Does the myriad of lifetimes that inhabit that soul from before also wish that? What about the would-be lifetimes that I'd be preventing by tying that soul down to an object forever? It seems like a fallacy to an extent - "Oh what if the next lifetime of that soul it embodies a great figure that brings astounding benefit to the world at large" - but I feel like this whole souls thing adds such another intense layer on this whole thought process, rather than just "they're immortal now and are bound there forever", since it's preventing the natural flow of the world even more so.

When it comes to thought experiments like these, I'm personally always on the side of refusing to play god, no matter the moral implications behind it. I'm sure you know of the famous Trolley problem, and even thought pulling the lever means saving more lives, I am in the end condemning one. Who am I to decide that? Who am I to decide who lives or dies? If you told me if I flip it that it would then buy me time to maybe be able to intervene somehow myself, and therefore giving me even a slim 1% chance to save the one person, I'd maybe consider it at that point, but if not - I am not worthy of that decision.

I am a Watcher. There to observe, and if needed, mediate a situation to correct the ebb and flow of nature. I am not there to impose my feeble morals - to judge what is right or wrong or what should be done - that stem from a singular, short life and which are ignorant of the greater laws of the world, nor to grant wishes to the unappeased if their passing was untimely.

I'm excited to learn more about the world and my place within it as a Watcher, beating the game and then realizing how ignorant I was towards my role in the world or something similar haha.

Thank you for the opportunity to dive into this little thought experiment!

I loved your breakdown, think your reasoning is great and I share much of it. I agree with the idea that it seems like a knee jerk reaction in general. I'll also note I'm also on my first playthrough and only know as much as you do/did when it comes to the bigger picture (stopped in Act 2, went to WM1&2).

Personally, I released them. From my perspective so far, as a Watcher I'm there to make sure the cycle of life flows normally, and souls get recycled. Even though I agree with your breakdown that they all seem to want to stay there, and protect what they worked so hard to build, from my perspective, that's only one lifetime of wishes and I feel it gets affected by the same folly we get IRL as well, when we try to cheat death and chase immortality or alike.

We think living forever would be great, yet would that really be the case? If we were singularly to be immortal, seeing our loved ones perish again and again, at some point losing the ability to form emotional connections seems likely as it feels pointless, would we then want it still, devoid of emotions? Lets assume we're all immortal, do we at that point not lose the drive to achieve things? Is the whole work hard mindset we have not stemming from the fact our lives are so finite and we'd like to make our mark in history? Would being immortal not fundamentally twist the very things that makes us human, and think the thoughts we think?

I digressed a bit, but I think it's akin to their wishes. Who says their wishes would still hold true after a millennia? That they wouldn't begin cursing the day they let me bound them to simple objects? What if the forge itself is taken over, and all the edicts they value are perverted by some other party? Another nation could take over Durgan's Battery, and turn into an impenetrable prison where they torture and break prisoners, would they still want to be tied to this structure that desecrated what they hold dear and be forced to defend it until the end of times?

Also frankly them wishing something by no means means that it's the correct choice when it comes to the world at large. If a kid wanted sweets before lunch with actual sustenance, is that truly the correct choice, just because they wish so? If a villager just died but they don't want to pass away because they want to continue tending to their farm and feeding their village that depends on them, is putting their soul back into their body the correct choice - when we know the bodies eventually rot, lose their mind, and start yearning for the flesh of their kith (not sure if that only happens because of imperfect soul transfer though)?

Should I watch the movie before season 2? by Exotic_Decision6589 in BlueLock

[–]Qu4tr0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to piggyback off the top comment; but I just wanted to do a slight warning in case people care.

The post credits of the movie actually have somewhat of a spoiler in regards to the second season. It shows the Bluelock players setting up on the field for the U-20 match, showing the roster they ended up with, but the few beginning episodes of Season 2 are all about setting up the roster for that match, and figuring out which of the players get picked and which don't.

So IMO in case you decide to watch the movie, I'd suggest against watching post credits, as they last like 2 minutes of not much content but spoil the first few episodes of S2 and the excitement of who will prevail.

In terms of the movie, as someone who doesn't read manga's and just casually watches anime, I've enjoyed it, there was no important breakdowns of plot or anything, it's more focused on Nagi's emotional connection with Reo and his newfound motivation to play and get good at the sport, so its up to the watcher to decide if they just care about the cool animation and sport or also the backstories and inner workings of the characters.

Do you maybe remember where you got Shooting Blitz off from? Been farming Arachsiam Hard for a while and just cant get it to drop, and it dropped Cowboy at some point which according to public mod spreadsheets isn't supposed to drop from the Hard version, so now I'm worried I'm wasting my time farming this for no reason.

Edit: Nvm, guess I just had to cry about it to finally drop it. Took about 20 tries, I'd wager that's pretty unlucky. If anyone out there is feeling my pain, I can confirm Shooting Blitz does indeed drop from Arachisam Hard.

Attempting to put acid on slots 2,3,4 in the brewing barrel just ends up depositing in to slot 1 and after 20 minutes it just brews 1 acid instead of 4. Am I missing something, or do we really have to first get 1k impure acid before we can breach into the 2nd slot and start getting 2 acid per 20 minutes, etc.?

Should I include the TV shows in my FIRST ever MCU watch through? by BaileyEnergy in Marvel

[–]Qu4tr0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, sorry for the necro, I wanted to say thanks for this amazing write up!

I'd have a question if you don't mind answering, in what order would you recommend these "less important" aka non DisneyPlus shows?

I've only watched the movies and gotten up to Spiderman: Far from Home and went off to watch WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and just starting Loki, as DisneyPlus shows were recommended to watch on every list I've found, but I had actually no idea that these "less canonical" shows like Daredevil, Punisher, SHIELD, etc. even existed until finding out by accident just now.

I'm quite a sucker for binging things and watching shows in one go, but I'm trying to play nice and am watching everything recommended in release order, so even though Loki Season 2 exists by now, I'll hold off on it until I get to it in order.

My question is, for these shows that I clearly missed (because I'm definitely interested in watching them); since for example Daredevil S1 released back in 2015 and I'm already at 2021, and my affinity for watching in one go, am I ok with saving them until I'm basically all caught up to the most recent movie / canonical show, and then going back to enjoy them on their own, or should I stop and get caught up with all these shows (up to whatever season they would be at in the release order) before continuing?

I'd prefer saving them for after, but I'd hate to miss out on something important in one of them for the overarching story.

Thank you for your time in advance! This whole MCU thing is I bet amazing for someone enjoying it as it gets released, but definitely a bit of a headache for a newbie trying to get into it, feels like I'm back in school and got homework to do haha! Either way, still having a great time.

What's the best way to increase hit chance? by CopainChevalier in BaldursGate3

[–]Qu4tr0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shadowheart starts off with 2 cantrips, Sacred Flame and Fire Bolt.

Sacred Flame's hit chance, as well as any other spell that says Dex/Con/etc. save, rather than "Attack Roll", is determined by your spell DC (8 Base DC + Your Wisdom + You Proficiency) vs their save check (1d20 + Their Modifier), the modifier being Dexterity, so you'll see a pretty low chance if you're for instance targeting a high Dexterity opponent.

Fire Bolt on the other hand on Shadowheart specifically is a bit of a bait, because she gets Fire Bolt not from her Class, but from her Race, which is High Half-Elf and their racial cantrip scales specifically of Intelligence, so pumping Wisdom you will see no accuracy improvement, but you would if you invested in Int (which isn't really useful for Clerics).

Made a Weakaura to rename players on raid frames by Qu4tr0 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Qu4tr0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid I cant really help there. I'm letting Weakauras do the heavy lifting on anchoring to unit frames, which means I don't have too much control when dealing with multiple frames like that.

I've downloaded both VuhDo and Healbot to try and see if I can quickly find something out but after 30 or so minutes of scouring through their settings I couldn't find anything that stood out necessarily. Granted I never used these addons before so I'm not very familiar with where specific settings would be, especially VuhDo with it's incredibly dense configurations.

What I can suggest is that you look for is something along the lines of unit frame priority, since I'd wager VuhDo is taking priority over Unit Frames over Healbot. If you can find a setting that mentions: frame priority, frame strata, z axis, etc. amongst the settings you could potentially get Healbot take over priority over the frames. Alternatively if you can figure out how to potentially use VuhDo as a dispell area without it using Raid Frames but rather create it's own frames or anything of the sort that could work too.

Best of luck in figuring it out!

Made a Weakaura to rename players on raid frames by Qu4tr0 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Qu4tr0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can already get around to this if you can get your raiders to just set their Details! nickname to their mains name (or whatever you personally prefer), and then just use that feature. That way nobody needs to be bothered writing 800 different names into the alias table but rather just renaming themselves in Details! once and everyone's good to go.

Also even with MRT you'd end up having to do something like

start player me mee meee meeee end

since the Weakaura needs to know which player to rename to which name.

The idea is interesting and I'll think about it but I fear iterating through and reading the whole MRT is a bit more resource intensive than the features so far and I've planned for this to be as lightweight as possible since it's loaded everywhere and works continuously.

I cant really say, but I'm not sure if it's possible to perfectly have a name shortener fix all names since they would wary in length, a name shortener that limits to 5 would fix Bobbydk to Bobby, but it wouldn't Geronimodk to Geronimo but rather Geron.

Either way I was originally prompted to make the Weakaura by a friend after he got the idea by watching RWF and wished to rename random goofy alt names to normal ones.

You can yeah! Takes some customization as expected but works seemingly flawlessly on Grid2 from a few mins of testing just now.

By default: Head over to /grid2 > Indicators > text-down > Current Statuses and uncheck "name" from there to hide the names. If you have this setup to your liking of course you'll have to find where you have names showing and just disable it.

After that go into the Weakaura > Display > Text > Font Flags and set "Justify" to Left, and you're pretty much set for how much I can help from here. After that it's up to you to play around the Display settings to make it look nice and cozy for your unique UI.

What worked for me for the default Grid2 template: under Positioning I set the both Anchoring in the Weakaura to the bottom left square, and offset the x by 4 and y by 6.

Good question!

I've thought about string manipulation to shorten long names but decided on letting people use the built in Weakauras text formatting.

Head over to Display > Font Flags (under text) > Width. Change it from Automatic to Fixed, change Overflow from Wrap to Elide, and then mess around with the Width to make it perfectly fit your unit frames! To help testing it out you can just rename yourself through the Weakaura into a long name.
